An enthusiastic physicist is always brilliant to see! I'm going to university later this year to study physics! Yaaaayyy!! Can't wait :D I love maths and physics so much haha...
I find physics to be the coolest science ever because it gave us so much technology and physicists are the people that will discover new tech and create new industries as Michio Kaku said in a talk.
Thanks Fran - I loved this vlog! Physics was the only subject I didn't get on to well with at school but after this vlog I feel like I should give it another try :-)
Yes yes yes! Definitely do! Physics is admittedly very difficult (especially at university level), but I've found that nothing compares to the feeling of working through pages and pages of abstract maths to finally end up with a result that manifests itself in a physical reality. It's truly wonderful to see numbers evolve into real observations and I would definitely recommend giving it another go!
Fran Kirsch You make it sound utterly irresistible so I'm just going to have do that! I'll hunt for a friendly book on the subject and make sure I read it :-) By the way, I'm hoping to be able to pop by and say hi to Simon after his talk at the Physics Society on Thursday evening. (Unfortunately I can't come any earlier, as I am already attending a lecture just around the corner.) Am I right in thinking you are likely to be there too? Just wondering whether I may potentially meet two vloggers in one evening :-) That would be surreal and wonderful in equal measure!
You study God and you study people... People answer everything... they write books and stuff.... I'm in the room... humanity is the room... humanity knows everything... so by studying humanity... I know everything! Weird.... Now theology also is ethics so justice and fairness... so solves everything... finally, my dreams are coming true PS if people were always nice to each other that would solve all human issues
+Syed Tihaam Ahmad Where do I start? Physics research, teaching/lecturing, accounting, law, economics, finance, analytics, engineering etc. etc. Depends, you can go the mathematical route, but you can ditch that and go into humanity studies. Only a few go into Physics, but STEM in general is the main opportunity (for money and enjoyment).
Fun fact - if you look in Steve Simon's notes on Condensed Matter theory, I'm listed as an acknowledgement :)
damn, this was 5 years ago. She might even be a Dr by now.
"Physics is just so awesome!" :D
You perfectly summed up my own love of libraries
I KNEW I RECOGNIZED YOU FROM SOMEWHERE!!!!! I saw you in the Oxford physics introductory video! Great videos! Both the one here and there
Physics is the greatest!!

Yay Fran! Glad we get to see a video from you! :D
I want to be a physicist
I like that you have the poster for a Steve Blundell talk on the wall :)

Kendra Johnson I will be there, giving a talk as well, in fact! It would be great if you came along.
True... super conductors are awesome :)
Physics is truly awesomeeeeeee :D

@gabriel No, not at all. She's gorgeous! haha
What about job opportunities?

Syed Tihaam Ahmad Engineering is better. money-wise.
Hmm.. I was really confused. I started electrical engineering and will continue to study physics on my own.
