Perhaps, blue smoke would suggest that engine oil is being burnt. The only way I can think of this happening would be worn out piston rings which would allow oil to seep past or a very high oil pan pressure (which could be caused by a malfunctioning PCV valve).
If the pvc is not working. And is blocked do you get smoke from the exhaust ?
It's also one of the symptoms of blocked pcv valve
