It’s allways pleasant when your partner takes you serious , suppurts you and backs you up ! Makes the jobs so much easier! 😂😂😂 love the chemistry between you both! Get well Ian ❤️🩹! 🫶👍🏻👍🏻🆙
Betty continues to be my fleet favourite. Not only because of the previous international trips, but because AU Fairmont, which according to my Aussie friends, are starting to become a bit of a cult car and are becoming cool. I'm not sure how Iain feels about accidentally being cool, though.
Hey, guys... Great vlog! I PARTICULARLY loved the "5 minute job"...(that...I'm GUESSING..took a LITTLE longer..!!!) 😜🤣 A special mention to you, Ian, for your very professional modelling of the HubNut merchandise; well done, sir! 👍😄 🇮🇪❤️🏴
Hey, the other wiring connector is for wagon models. I had a 2000 AU2 Fairmont Wagon and that's where the rear washer pump plugged into. To confirm this I now have a 2000 AU2 Fairmont sedan and that wiring connector is tied back (not used)
The water pump coming off on the water bottle made me laugh 😆 Miss HubNut laughing too.. just carrying on filming the shenanigans. “What’s this thing.. a screen wash sensor” 😂 I keep replaying it, keep up the good work it made my day
Regarding clearing out the washers from the pump onwards... I had a 2006 Kia Sorento with completely blocked washers. I disconnected the hose to the jets at the bonnet hinge and blew compressed air back down the pipe, through the blocked filter into the reservoir. The resulting fountain of muck completely cleared the system. This idea might help in the future!
Even though it went a bit HubNut, it was a "no parts required" repair. Ivan of Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics would be proud. eBay beckons for some of those items.
Get well soon Ian.I haven’t posted your gift yet. I will this week. Carly you laughed heartily at Ian’s misfortune. Ps happy birthday to you mother Carly. Have a great long weekend
Great little tinkering video Ian and Carly #teamhubnut sorry to hear you are not so well again Ian, the wife has whooping Cough,.so that seems to be doing the rounds the now. Hope you have a good few days away.
Good idea to put an old pair of tights/stocking over the nozzle of the washer bottle reservoir before you pour the washer fluid in as the netting will catch all the bits of grime and snot in the washer fluid
If I was being laughed at like that while struggling there would be a trip to the Bristol Royal Infirmary for the surgical removal of a washer bottle 😆👍
The other disconnected wire could be for the wagon version. That version may have a second pump for the rear window installed in the bottle and not needed for the sedan model you have. Not 100% sure through.
My old BF Fairlane had a weak stream, turned out the washer pump pickup was plugged with a slimy algae coating. Easy fix but a pain in the ass to remove the pump.
I little tip in very cold weather I always put a drop of Methyspirits in my wash bottle to stop freezing I find even the most expensive screen wash liquids freezer but not when you put Mets in also you don't need much when the warm weather comes i along just back to the normal stuff 14:04
Correct, the extra connector is for the second Pump on an Estate. Fitting parts to Betty would make Adrian Happy......I have no idea what you are talking about 😂 Get well soon Ian 👍
Two words for you Ian, Jeyes Sanitiser. The stuff you sanitise baby bottles with. A small amount in your washer bottle prevents gunk and algae growing and blocking the pump, filter screen.
I've had this happen to me twice in my motoring history: once was by mixing screenwash with alcohol as the anti-freeze agent with screenwash that used ammonia as the anti-freeze agent - this caused the detergent to precipitate out and block everything. The next time it was with the E60, where the generic screenwash I bought got some bacterial gunk in it and it stank to high heaven. That entailed a thorough cleanse of the whole system and since then, I have only used BMW's own screenwash (which isn't that expensive) - and I have had no further problems. Why do manufacturers stick screenwash bottles and pumps behind wings though? By the way, La Yaris Détéstable may soon be no more...🙁
@@HubNut It's sprung a leak in the radiator and now it's blowing past one port of the exhaust manifold... and there's a hole in the catalytic converter casing too. My sister is most likely going to let me have her 2010 Fiat 500 but really, I should get the BMW back here.
Windshield Wiper Blues..... You'd be AMAZED at just how many people ignore their Wipers and the associated Hoses and Hardware. When I was a kid people then would actually take them apart and clean them. This was usually part of the Sunday Wash The Car and give it a looking over thing...... not anymore😐😏.
One of the things I've discovered about screen washers is In modern cars, when you pull the washer, the wipers automatically come on. Not so with older classic cars. And it's something you really do miss.
New variant of Covid ( called FLiRT ) arrived in Ireland this week - wonder if it was with you guys before getting here ??? Hope you don’t have that, Ian
You've been using UK soft water in that car, It is pining for good old Aussie hard water, Find a creek abd fill it up with water from that, a bit of algae or pond weed mat also help the home sickness, A pinch of table salt may help. Best wiches from Australia.
Those snotty nose bug things are awful aren't they? We stopped, a few years back, in one of those those well known posh (ish) hotel chains that feature on TV with lots of peeps playing archery and having a darn good time, We came back with covid ! Not long back we stayed in another one and I developed similar symptoms which must have lasted about two weeks and then my wife caught it but tests indicated it wasn't covid ! I hope you shake it off PDQ Ian.
I won’t watch them … just patronising worthless spam that devalues the channels and their followers…. pushed by TH-cam for their own purposes… asking for a “Dislike” not a “Like” IMO…
I agree. And as a long term viewer of the channel I honestly can't say I think that the Mrs adds anything at all to this content. In fact I find her annoying.
I wonder if he packed up because you’ve got a load of shit in them🤡 what you put in out of the bottle🤡🤡🤯 don’t you anything with Bolton especially wheels👍 thank God he’s got you miss Hubnut 😂
Mrs Hubnut, you're a genius! Your laughter makes a boring repair so much more entertaining 😅
Every time 'Pure' by The Lightning Seeds comes on, I'm always reminded of the Vauxhall Sintra for some reason.
Happy Birthday to Mother-In-Law Hubnut, and wasn't it your birthday recently too, Ian? A belated happy birthday to you too.
I like watching Ian tinkering, because as bad a diy mechanic as I am, he rather makes me feel quite competent!
It’s allways pleasant when your partner takes you serious , suppurts you and backs you up ! Makes the jobs so much easier! 😂😂😂 love the chemistry between you both! Get well Ian ❤️🩹! 🫶👍🏻👍🏻🆙
Ms Hubnut laughing made my day.
Same here loved the giggling 😂😂😂
Who says Hubnut doesn't have success? Marvellous things achieved
That dirty laugh in the background haha lol
Betty continues to be my fleet favourite. Not only because of the previous international trips, but because AU Fairmont, which according to my Aussie friends, are starting to become a bit of a cult car and are becoming cool. I'm not sure how Iain feels about accidentally being cool, though.
There is no such thing as a five minute job. Go and have a cup of tea, you've earned it.
Absolutely brilliant video Ian miss hubnut ❤👍well done fixing bety especially while unwell get well soon my friend brilliant

Its like a shopping channel
Best Friday entertainment. 🤣🤣🤣Thank you, guys. And have a nice weekend. See you soon --- Martin

yeah it is used on my AU1 Fairmont Wagon
So satisfying when a repair is quick & easy and requires no parts 😀
Good name for the Smart, Big Red
The water pump coming off on the water bottle made me laugh 😆
Miss HubNut laughing too.. just carrying on filming the shenanigans. “What’s this thing.. a screen wash sensor” 😂 I keep replaying it, keep up the good work it made my day
Miss Hubnut enjoyed your tinkering on Betty and l just use tap water in my windscreen washer bottles and never had a failed at all
same here but Melbourne water is pretty good quality.
Regularly having temperatures below 0 C precludes the use of straight water
@@ianmontgomery7534 So is Sydney water
@@OneDullMan Not many areas of Australia have that problem.
To flush it out try a tin of Foster's and a curry.
Works on the pommys most weekends!!!?
Yikes, had that happen on my 850. Clogged up the check valve and partially flooded my trunk. I don't cheap out on washer fluid since then haha
Regarding clearing out the washers from the pump onwards... I had a 2006 Kia Sorento with completely blocked washers. I disconnected the hose to the jets at the bonnet hinge and blew compressed air back down the pipe, through the blocked filter into the reservoir.

I think you have your next shirt or hoodie slogan
"It's 5 minute job
5 minute job = many hours job
All my Vauxhalls have had a filter built into the pump/tank grommet. 😉
Even though it went a bit HubNut, it was a "no parts required" repair. Ivan of Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics would be proud. eBay beckons for some of those items.
Hoping you get better soon Mr. Hubnut.
Get well soon Ian, another fix done and some fantastic mug modelling 😅
Easier than the later FG Falcon. The washer motor is down inside the fender, access is via the wheel liner.
I would love to have the landcrab manual
This can be arranged. Please email ian@hubnut.org in the first instance.

another great video has always Ian and Carly miss/mrs hubnut and hublets and hubmutt 👍

Ms Hubnut’s asides and chuckles made this video 😆. Top entertainment.
It's the "Carry on" grade laughter
Hope you soon feel better Ian. Miss Hubnuts giggling made me smile. Keep the vids coming.
Ian, I was expecting a "Not my excavator" (A La Sierra) caption on the digger ! Get well soon.
Correct, the extra connector is for the second Pump on an Estate. Fitting parts to Betty would make Adrian Happy......I have no idea what you are talking about 😂 Get well soon Ian 👍
This might be the best hubnut video ever. :)
30 seconds to pour the gloop in and 30 minutes to get it back out! 🤣
I am currently dog and house sitting for one of my children. Just a few doors away there is a Matiz which appears to be being used as a daily driver.
i think you are probably right with that spare connector.
Been putting the same job off on #myvolvo, however did get the headlamp washers working well. 😊
I seem to remember screen wash bottles that were easily detachable so you could fill them under a tap.
What happened to those days?
Perhaps a siphoning tool might be worth investing in, for the future? 😮
Hindsight's a wonderful thing!
Well now I know what to do if my Fairmont wagon ever has washer problems.
Two words for you Ian, Jeyes Sanitiser. The stuff you sanitise baby bottles with. A small amount in your washer bottle prevents gunk and algae growing and blocking the pump, filter screen.
Hearing Miss Hubnut laugh is the best thing, awesome stuff guys, Do you have caps for sale.😊👍
Ford AU HubNut proofed their car's! 😮
The wagons have their own bottle and pump located in the back of the car.
I've had this happen to me twice in my motoring history: once was by mixing screenwash with alcohol as the anti-freeze agent with screenwash that used ammonia as the anti-freeze agent - this caused the detergent to precipitate out and block everything. I remember working at halfords as a teen and you could buy just the rubbers instead of the entire wiper. Far less wasteful
Don't say Elly isnt capable of a 200+ mile drive! Remember she did the trip down to Croatia!
Oh she'd do it no sweat. But I worry about safety and the overall noise levels for more than just me.
AY UP MR AND MRS HUBNUT
Ian could always get a job demoing on The Price Is Right....
I thought walking home was going to be punishment for the obscene cackles of merriment at the beginning of the video.
One of the things I've discovered about screen washers is
In modern cars, when you pull the washer, the wipers automatically come on.
Not so with older classic cars.
And it's something you really do miss.
It's a pain if the wipers operate and the screen wash has run out though...
Hope you recover soon 👍, but it may not be wise to visit older generations , when you could pass on the infection.
Taking precautions. Only so long you can keep postponing stuff. I've been unwell for a month so far!
Modern Fords still have a washer / filter on the pump.
Great Success! (and miscellaneous auto parts) 🥳🙌
CARLY dont laugh , some of us do leak as they get older😱
Good video 😀
Happy 40th birthday to Mrs. Carly's mum.
that would be a thirty several birthday rather than fortieth.
Weird, I've had Tesco screen wash with bits floating in it. Looks like mould but I don't see how, screen wash mainly contains alcohol.
A Fairy Liquid bottle filled with water and kept in door pocket or glove box never gave any problems.
Please take care of your health Ian. That is one thing we do not want to go all HubNut.
I see the BottomBot has diversified into other miscellaneous body parts.
Sadly so. Busy deleting!
Copyright strike from Furious Driving for “Junk in the Trunk” ! 😊
choose 1 brand and stick to it- mixing different washer fluids can end up with a bottle with schmoo at the bottom to clog everything up
Weird weather hasn't helped. Hot cold warm cold.
IS THAT angelic after in the backgroung??
You should have emptied the washer bottle the good old fashioned way using plastic manky tube and suck the end until the liquid starts to drain.
Delicious... 😉

It's fun, tinkering with cars where everything is illogically put together.
If you're driving down a dirt road in the middle of nowhere you don't need washers.
ian whats wrong with smarty she was running ????????
We've got boost issues. Have some vacuum piping to replace in the first instance.
awwww.... i thought that was a real AU Falcon....'till i saw it's got 2 cylinders missing!!!!!.................jokes....AU's rule!
By the way - take things easy and get well soon. Is your GP sure you need antibiotics and it's not a virus of sorts?
I'm not 100% but they are helping.
Goo dto hear Carly offering sloid vocal moral support
Loving the sardonic laughter 😆
Mr. Hubnut missed his modelling merchandise vocation!
Enough with the annoying shorts already ! TikTok is ->that way ?
We don't expect everyone to watch the shorts, but we're going to be experimenting with them in the coming weeks.
I won’t watch them … just patronising worthless spam that devalues the channels and their followers…. pushed by TH-cam for their own purposes… asking for a “Dislike” not a “Like” IMO…
Turned off the bell for hubnut, too much push notifications drove me crazy.
I agree. And as a long term viewer of the channel I honestly can't say I think that the Mrs adds anything at all to this content. In fact I find her annoying.
Ian looks to be in need of tea and sympathy. But he wasn't getting any sympathy. Or any tea. 🤧
Get well soon.
Might be worth buying a Cvid test befoe seeing the Inlaws?
Pretty sure they've had whatever this is before me. Staying away from the younger relatives and keeping my distance generally.
Sorry your apparent recovery was a false dawn. Hopefully you can do it for real soon.
There is no such thing as a 5 minute job, never,..Even, EVER!
I think ms hubnut was amused 😂
Everything is a 5 minute job on the au, 5 minutes to fuck it up and get a professional to fix it.
5 minutes????????
