Great video. I will add once the power is reconnected it will likely trigger the SGM (security gateway monitor) in the vehicle thus losing many functions like backup camera, temperature controls, passenger heated seats, and Uconnect will lose half the features. I’m called Uconnect, they were clueless. The solution is patience. Everything came back within a few hours good as it was. Might take longer for yours, but from what I’ve researched it’s extremely common.

great video, just want to add that I will need to keep looking to figure out what to do with my 2nd battery, maybe you want to do an update one day! you the man. Thank you for this much :)
Thanks for the vid it helped. But battery wasn’t dead lol. When loosened neg term got power. Think water was cause a short of something. Left sunroof open couple days ago and rained. I had power though for couple days tell a short or something and everything was dead. Only thing that wrked was power seats I wonder if that because you need to move seat to get to battery.
I have a 2019, the auxiliary battery is down there as well. After changing the main battery I went to start the truck and there is no power anywhere. Been researching for the last couple hours with no luck.
@@djcichlid7746that’s to vent gases from the battery to the outside. Since the battery is inside the passenger compartment they need this so any gases that come from inside the battery don’t build up inside the Jeep.
This isn’t “every” battery for this generation. 2016’s, and probably every year earlier has a regular sized and an auxiliary battery instead of a super long one.
Thanks for the vidio! everything was the same, even the part with the coins. BTW, I got the bracket from the diesel model and got the battery from the diesel, that is bigger too :) THANKS
Thanks for the video - I have the battery bracket out, vent tube disconnected, negative terminal off, but I can't seem to get the wire disconnected from the negative terminal @ 3:10 mark, does it just pull off or does it have a release, I don't want to break anything.
Can you still get the battery out if you have manual seats that do not tilt ? Mine has 2 batteries in there which makes it real fun . I have seen a couple of vids that say to remove the 4 seat bolts and tilt it "backwards" .
Are there any pointers on removing the battery when the truck is fully dead? At this point, this truck is trash. I have fuel leaking from under the passenger side.
Attach jumper cables to a new battery and connect to the jump port under the hood. It will provide power to the electronics and you'll be able to move the seat.
2:11 to 2:13 how did you remove it? why cut this part of the video? my battery is completely anchored to the bottom and you skipped the part where you removed 😫😫😫😫😫😫
@@LJsGarage because there's is a bracket with two bolts and screw to remove with deep sockets and extension, or the battery doesn't move...you skipped that part and i was confused 😂😂😂😂
@@LJsGarage I have a 2011 Grand Cherokee, and the battery finally went bad, when I opened the cover that's when I saw all the water, I never heard it sloshing because the stereo Rocks!

Thanks for the added info!
Why did they put battery under the seat ? Because they hate ppl?
Haha battle between engineers and mechanics
They put the battery under the seat because Jeep sucks. My wife has a 2016 Cherokee and it will be our last. P,OS. @@LJsGarage
@@genemoorman3065same this will be my last jeep as well
Because Mercedes

Great, great video, straight forward to the situation, no crap or trash talk
Thanks my friend!
great video, just want to add that I will need to keep looking to figure out what to do with my 2nd battery, maybe you want to do an update one day! you the man. Thank you for this much :)
Thanks! and that aux battery isnt too bad once you get to it
Appreciate it brother.
Anytime!
Great video, saved me guessing what sockets etc... and i wore gloves so i didnt do my knuckels lol
Glad I could help!

Thank you so much sir! Lifesaver❤
Glad it helped! 🙏🏿

Good luck I'm not sure what that could be
Its a lot faster to just remove the seat, just four clips that cover the bolts, remove bolts, move seat forward now you have access to batteries!
If that works for you def a reasonable method!
Thank you sir. Job complete.
All the best!
what is the function of the black piece with the plug in terminals on the ground terminal mine broke off
I believe you are talking about the battery sensor.
Or is he talking about that vent plug. I wondered what that is for also
@@djcichlid7746that’s to vent gases from the battery to the outside. Since the battery is inside the passenger compartment they need this so any gases that come from inside the battery don’t build up inside the Jeep.
Good video it worked for me thanks
No problem 👍
Somehow my vent tube broke off . Does that come with the battery or it’s part of the vehicle
Part of the vehicle :/
Sliding the seat forward instead of back definitely worked 😂thnx🫡
This isn’t “every” battery for this generation. 2016’s, and probably every year earlier has a regular sized and an auxiliary battery instead of a super long one.
Thats true thanks!
All have two if it has auto start stop but most don't like this feature and disconnect anyway .
WHY THE FK THEY PUT IT THERE
OMG
😂

Thanks for the info! haha on the coins
How does the plastic cover come off, do you need to pry it, is there a release tab or button?
Sorry for the late response I just pulled them off
Good video
Thanks 👌🏿

Np! it should loosen with the nut and then slide ride off
Great video but I do have to ask the main battery not the auxiliary where exactly are they located. Passenger seat or driver's seat underneath
The aux battery should be under the passenger if you had the stop start and all that
Can you still get the battery out if you have manual seats that do not tilt ? Mine has 2 batteries in there which makes it real fun . I have seen a couple of vids that say to remove the 4 seat bolts and tilt it "backwards" .
Yeah you can they should slide and raise up high
Basically we needed to see you do it omg 😂
😂
So because there are two battery's how do you know which one is dead or do they both die at the same time so do I need to replace both?
Where's the two batteries? It's only one I know of it's just a really big battery
Usually the secondary is for emergency systems and stop start and all that so you'll usually be able to tell
Thank you 👍
Anytime!
So you didnt need a memory saver before changing the battery?
Everything was good to go I didn't need one
How long was your battery unplugged for bro? Im just wondering if i shoukd buy a memory saver
Did you have a H7 or H8 battery? Looking for my jeep and can’t find out which I should use
H7 is what I went with but you can bump up to an H8 if you want more CCA's
Are there any pointers on removing the battery when the truck is fully dead? At this point, this truck is trash. I have fuel leaking from under the passenger side.
Fuel leak is a mess :/ if you have power seats get a jumper pack it only needs a few volts to get it to move the seat
@@LJsGarage thank you for replying! I will definitely look into that.
And I thought a Dodge journey with a battery in the fender was a dumb one. Id love to get in a good accident with my battery in the cabin with me.
haha right good point
Thanks.
Welcome!
If the battery is dead the seat will not move. What to do?
Attach jumper cables to a new battery and connect to the jump port under the hood. It will provide power to the electronics and you'll be able to move the seat.
Second the jumper cables, thanks
No stop start battery.
Correct
this era of Grand Cherokee is basically a Mercedes ML series
True that
What if our vent plug accidentally breaks.
As long as it's not exposed to crazy high temps not much it'll just decrease the life of the battery. By how much I'm not sure.
2:11 to 2:13 how did you remove it? why cut this part of the video? my battery is completely anchored to the bottom and you skipped the part where you removed 😫😫😫😫😫😫
Haha sorry my friend! I had to basically lift and flip at the same time it took all my strength
@@LJsGarage because there's is a bracket with two bolts and screw to remove with deep sockets and extension, or the battery doesn't move...you skipped that part and i was confused 😂😂😂😂
Battery dead seat doesn’t move forward. What do I do
Jump the car. Move the seat forward.
What the comment above says, sorry
So your Battery Box was Dry?
Possibly I had it checked at the dealership and voltage was low
@@LJsGarage I have a 2011 Grand Cherokee, and the battery finally went bad, when I opened the cover that's when I saw all the water, I never heard it sloshing because the stereo Rocks!
My cover is super hard to remove
I wonder if someone bent it prior.
Same
Maybe they will start putting batteries inside the trap door in the oil pan
hahah I sure hope not for our sake
Mine has 2 batteries, a little battery, and then the bigger battery
yeah the auxiliary is the smaller for stop start and a couple little things
This is currently a pain in my ass lol
😂
Which side
Passenger
I just took the seat out. Its only 4 bolts and a plug
That works too!
Oh no not a 10mm
Lol
