- This video was taken at the 2016 Alvordton OH Plow Day. Featuring a Big Bud 525/50 and a DMI 21 Bottom Plow. The plow day was held on August 13, 2016.
For those of you who don't know, a plow day is where people bring their antique tractors and plows and spend the day plowing a field for fun and nostalgia. There is almost no actual plowing done on a large scale in this area. This event is used as a fundraiser and fun event for people to come see how farming used to be done.
This Big Bud and DMI plow are owned by a local farmer. He brings it to this plow day for people to see one of the worlds biggest plows in action. The tractor stock is about 525 hp but this one is turned up to between 600-650. The plow is a 1 of 1. It has 21 bottoms and has a hydraulically swinging draw-bar that allows the plow to cut between 21 and 40 feet per pass. My understanding is the plow was made for the Farm Progess show back in the late 70's and I know that is came from North Dakota before arriving in NW Ohio.
This was filmed with a DJI Phantom 3 Advanced and a GoPro Hero 4 Black.

me and my son went to this.very awsome to see in person i have some videos myself and the farmer is a really nice guy a pleasure i got to go 😆
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing!
When triples are only just enough. My god that is pulling hard.
@ 1:33 the tractor on the other side of the field plowing is like "What 'bout me?😟 Nobody wants to watch me and my 3 bottom plow😢. Everybody is over there lookin at da big 'un!😞"
We used to pull a 12 bottom DMI with our AC 8550. They called DMI equipment over engineered because of the weight of the things and they weren't kidding. By far and away the heaviest implement we pulled. Head lands were no fun, neither was transport.
I liked The Mike Less video on this better. No music just real engine sound. You covered up the best part of the video with music.
Not to mention the fact that some moving Parts need grease. Somewhere down the road they'll come to the realization grease is a whole lot less expensive than metal parts! The music would have been nice for an opening what are all the gear heads want to hear that engine run. Would have liked to seen a closer look at the plows as well. Other than that not too bad.
Yessiree bob, there's no better way to destroy biomass than to plow, plow, plow. Keep up the good work. SARC.
Cougar Land If you do any edible vegetables , they demand moldboard plowing .
thats a beast. takes an acre to turn around
Paul C compare to the jd in the vid
that little bugger now she's a pullin hard.
Forget the music lets here it grunting now that's music
Cute. There’s a case steam tractor that pulls 50 bottom plow with ease.
That's amazing!
Makes harvesting (e.g. corn) tricky when the pattern gets all screwed up on the turns.
who is driving this tractor? Steve Wonder
I wish my plough could play music like that
my horse, knickers, and I will keep up with him in our ol single bottom plow.
Makes a lot of work I can't get to the end of the field is too big and I'll tell it's fine and dandy if your laptop is miles long and you got to do it in a couple of passes but when it's short like this field and you leave all that untilled soil at the end there's another tractor that has to come out and finish the job
For all the armchair farm simmers worried about headlands, this set up was made to plow multi square mile fields for wheat. This tractor is too big for your puny farm lol!
Right on tell them how it is
WOW! What Power !
Is that the plow that kinze originally built to test the new repowered John Deere
Midwest Allis Fan Thumbs up just for the Allis Chalmers!👍
Damn whats with all the golfers, u pulling up there green?
To be fair, this video is about the tractors pulling power, not ploughing, it's obvious this is a shit job at the ends, but great demonstration of over the top equipment. Luv it.
Andrew Bibby could you say me why? I am interested in how plowing works, or do you have a video or website somewhere where they explain it good?
It's like a planet or a star. Is so big it has satellites/moons or planets. That's funny as hell.
Does the farmer use it for field work?
What sorcery is this?!
Tres belle ensemble ! Mais il lui faut 10 hectares pour tourner en bout de champ !😅
I love working on my own. little city farm I have be even better to work with u guys be hard but fun in a way
Talk about Holy tractor & plow Batman
Less music and let me hear that diesel load down and pull thru the drag of that plow.
So amazing!!!🙆👍👍👍👍👍

ciao woooo😀😀😀super super video ciao
The Sod Buster !
So Eric not too many schools for you neither. I see. Dont get mad jr. Ive plowed a field or two, just never had too many people hanging around, guess the description tells why but i just dont get it.
Awesome !!
So how wide is the cut from this and is big bud actually fighting for traction pulling this?
The width of this plow is adjustable. It could be anywhere from 21' to 40'. Yes it was struggling to pull it when set wide.
The area of this land is how many square meters?
to ma być orka?
Tracktor Needs More Weight on it,, its pulling sideways and slipping.
Profesionales en grabar está bien gracias por enseñarnos esos inventos si están bien no que anden fabricando bombas químicas y otras armas
This has 14L Cummins?
its the 1,150 ci KTA cummins.
yayaya1193able i used to drive a big bud 525/50 with a tile plow had a kta1150 Cummins
It’s not plowing....the ground is just turning over in respect of a real tractor.
seems its too big even for farms in the usa looks like it needs too much room to turn compacting the ground
fiona summer lol there are tractors bigger than this working the fields where do you thank that food in the grocery store comes from
what a fast u turn
Hardest pulling plow I have ever seen
quite the audience
Incredible people don't realise this is a demonstration, like ffs it doesn't take a genius to figure that much out
So do they actually employ this monstrosity or is it just a testament to human ingenuity and innovation?
less music please
Not very practical.
Time consuming with not being reversible plough and too long.
Each row end has around 15-20sq.m unturned.
and im sitting here with my Fendt Farmer 200S and a 2bottom plow :/
BlackForest Biker / Fendt Farmer 👍
Thought this plow was big. Then I found the worlds biggest.
And the 747 just got new shoes. Will be leaving museum and back to work in MOntana. Look up Welker Farms
wow look at those head lands!! the time it take to turn and get in tune with the next row is too long. ik its at a show and its still kinda cool to see something that big, but in normal field work, it would be more time consuming and stressful to operate something like this
Kinda puts my John Deere 318 garden tractor to shame.........
Gary C ahhahaha
Gary C this thing puts everything on the farm circuit to shame !
Dave H nah the big bud 747 puts everything to shame it has 1100hp and is one of a kind.
no se usa más arar la tierra , siembra directa muchachos
My farmall h can pull that plow
Looks like he just making a mess . Can't even keep it in the furrow
now that's plowing
How in the hell did i end up here ..
Liam Tremmer I'm just as dumbfounded but then retracted. Was watching a boxing match then somehow thrilla on the hilla. Apparently since we were in Canada next was a moose logging, now this. TH-cam's sick and twisted
Всю съэкономленную солярку он сжёг на развороты, да ещё и землю вытоптал😢
Hp ?
Devran Zobu 1100
Omg
The Big Bud 525/50 has "only" 525 Hp
The 747 have 1100 and the one that was working hage 525
If you read the description it tells you how much it has and what it's making
I want to move there and work like slave all day long
Faumer Contreras
I'd like to rather be and work as slave on my own.. ((:
Bon Jovi - Blaze Of Glory

Tug o war Big Bud vs Cat D11 😀 which would win?
I think the Cat. If you're talking 747... well... thats gonna be interesting :)
Who ever got better tracking I'm betting on the bud
D11 weighs over 230,000lbs. Big Bud 747 with the max ballast weights 130,000lbs. Big Bud has no chance at winning.
D 11 for sure
Wouldnt like to be putting diesel in thst big bud lol
fucking beast, what engine and power?
spoony spoonicus cummins power and like 600 hp
Does anyone know who made the plow?
Legends say it was forged by the Devil himself
DMI
Ok yeah i see what you mean but still cool though
Murica f $@#k yeah.
is it effective?
Well it ploughs.So yeah...
da ??? witch way Howie ???? (:
Cool looking setup but it's obsolete and unnecessary. Get rid of it while you can, before it becomes a fence line decoration.
Don Thursby - I'd say they don't use it regularly for in service work. For show so calm down
It's like getting rid of a classic car, because It's unnecessary...
Non reversible plough like that is completely and utterly useless. This video demonstrates that quite well.
Douglas Nisbet too big for reversible
Traktor belarus
What a sorry mess. So how do they propose cleaning up the headlands after?...The end of run are not even anywhere near consistent.
David Brewer it's not supposed to be neat or professional-looking they're just doing this for fun and Nostalgia as well as a fundraiser
Плуг надо регулировать!
мтз 20 предплужников на 15 см .также
потянет.
Really impressive but headlands are massive,, and all the replough to cover, to plough up stubble. Shit really.
I suppose he knows what he's doing at the ends? Looks like a mess to me!
Manorfarmdenton my thoughts exactly, have to replow field to do end rows
Having had another look, I wonder whether he was having trouble pulling the plough when he got to the end. At around 2:20 it looks as if the tractor is beginning to lose traction - look at the tyre marks its making, and just before that it began to crab badly. That could be due to the operator having got too close to the furrow, but elsewhere he's keeping pretty straight? We all sometimes lose concentration though :o)
That sort of ploughing must be more for spectacle though, or in enormous fields where the missed areas would be insignificant? Goodness knows what they do about the wide joins between ploughed areas too.
I'm guessing they were letting some guys play who had not run it much before. Even if you have experience running big equipment, each one has a learning curve. Biggest one I've run was an 8 bottom and with the hydraulics, you can make it straight on the ends. You'd be running at least 3 remote levers and stairstepping them down unless they had locks with flow controls. I agree having the end tires basically in the air over the dead furrow isn't helping. I too noticed the heavy cleating at times. It's a heck of a drag, that's for sure. Different soil types through the field along with wetness will pull you around. In my opinion he was not pulling up soon enough on some of those. 3 or 4 outside rounds would be way into the field and would make his end turning easier. It is awesome to see it pull that thing and appreciate them showing it.
KJ - you're right. Its possible other people were having a go - didn't think of that. Certainly lifting out and dropping in again neatly with a plough that size is a skill that takes a lot of learning! I agree about leaving a 3 or 4 round headland too - it would be huge with that plough! Possibly though an outfit of that size would only realistically be used in fields so big that headlands didn't matter anyway?
And you're right too that it was good of them to show it. John.
Manorfarmdenton it is for fun and nostalgia so I don't think they're really going for neatness
Vs big roy 😉
this plow and big bud shits on my 135 massey an 2 furrow plow
dumb idea, I pull a 6bottom with a challenger on gps at over ten miles an hr and by the time he covers the disaster hes made on the ends he wont be any further ahead of me.
george almeida how big is your challenger cause 10mph is too fast for a plow
agree youd break something! dont matter the size of the tractor. Faster aint always better, i like to take my time and make it look nice
george almeida your full of shit 3 MPH is the maximum for any plow I have worked on a farm you obviously just pilot a desk
10 mph creates shock loads that a 6 bottoms frame was not designed for. Speed at the cost of maintenance or destroying equipment saves no time. The Big Bud and a 21 bottom was only a show of power and a one way plow useless in that tight field.
Kać paralan o çekici
Canavar
That will make short work of the plowing effort.
Motor hangot ne zenét könyörgök

910 beygir
There's 1100 horsepower at the moment
Headlands are to big
so you need one support person per plow.......
and then a crew to come back and clean up the mess..
total horseshit
Bryan Keith that really upset you. Hahah
Bryan Keith spettacolo di donne
Bryan Keith considering what they're doing is for a fundraiser I don't think they're going for practicality or neatness might want to read the description next time
plow thats set up correctly doesnt take much horsepower to pull. but With a 7 bottom behind a challenger can almost do 3 passes to one of this and be home while your doing your ends and folding up that flimsy noodle
No oesi nyt ollu jokukaa kivi pellossa.

The time it takes to turn I cld have had the field done wirh smaller more efficient equipment. Sorry, terrrible sales job.
but if you had a long field .. you make more progress
Ferma Enache ....i see ur point, but thats so much te at each end...still think half the size equipment wld be more effiecient....and the Fuel fir that Big Bud...holy cow
JD Lewis yeah .. but is America .. the bigger the better .. :))
th-cam.com/video/J300vkPlinQ/w-d-xo.html The french can make same size plough but reversible. And with that - useful!
bazgino that I would have to see we use 12 bottom, that would be 1 hell of a roll over
10 см норм че
Purely for demonstration. Another plow would have to finish the ends. Nice to watch, but not practical
Depends on how many acres and how long your field is. Nobody would buy a 21 bottom blow and a triple'd big bud if it wasn't practical for their farm.
It was designed for the BIG fields out in Nebraska, Iowa, the Dakotas etc. Not the small fields we have in the great lakes area.
gonna burn it out😠
This was the weakest BigBud in HP.
seems useless if you ask me, perhaps on the big as fields where you don't have to turn for a few km, when he turns he even drives over the already plowed ground, plus the machine weighs so much the ground below gets way to compact and stuff will grow less good
Wesley Bakker it was never meant for production it was only made for one show back in the late 70 or maybe late 80
lenahren
farmall skittle there we're over 10,000 big buds manufactured in America the biggest being the 747 of which there was only one made and it was made to work a farm like all big buds by the way I have rebuilt the engine on one I wished all my pictures of it did not get burned up
Wesley Bakker
Clearly you don't understand how tractor shows work.
This tractor is very slow plowing
Not slower than the rest
Helo
Has to let all the idiots in the utvs and chase cameras get outta the way. Get outta the field, I don't care if you bought a $1,000 fuel ticket fer entry!!!
