You should cross rip it due to the spacing on since it has never been done before. Do a test plot and see if there is any difference from just doing it one direction. Pick your knownest dry spot on the farm and do a small test area to see if there is a difference. Just a thought! Would be interesting to see if it would or not!

We started ripping a quarter of it each year with a Great Plains unit; it has helped so much production, you can see the areas that have been ripped contrasting the non-ripped ground. This fall we start to rip the ground re-ripped 4 years ago.
Great to see Big Bud still going after all these years pulling modern equipment and with addition of modern technology adapted to it. Big Bud engineers should be proud of this. Old tractor outdoing new ones.Love watching them working in fields.

We tend to do tillage on most of our ground here in Michigan . We found that notill farming works but not for long term . So we notill for 2 years and then on the 3rd year we run our johndeere 2730 ripper across the fields . We run a vertical tillage disk on corn stalks and soybean stubble to chew up the residue but yet still leave the soil minimally disturbed. With soybeans we get a 5 to 10 bushel yield increase by doing tillage . The hard pan stops moisture and roots . You guys will probably conserve moisture by deep ripping those fields. Nice video stay safe and farm on my friends !
Its always awesome to show off equipment but that new bud 600 really stands out above the others. Shes a thing of beauty and very strong to get the job done as long as she stays running.
You will have a yield bump guys. You will be doing all your acres eventually. Yes you have to pick the bigger rock, but i would use a roller in the spring after seeding to smack the smaller ones back down flush with the surface for easier combining. A 60ft roller at 10mph will cover alot of ground. Plus it will give you better seed to soil contact for the best germination. Our ground here is alkaline and a little salty as well. Drain tile here helps. Tile only gets rid of excess water the ground cant hold. Deep ripping will get your salts down deeper, but you still need tile to wash them away so to speak. Awesome sunset shots by the way.

Cultivate/soilsave, disk, plant, spray weeds, rock pick all sumer, harvest, roll beans, V-rip borders and hilltops, spread fertilizer fall/spring, spread lime fall if needed, fix equipmentand store for winter.

Here in Illinois our rippers are set on 30” spacing. We pull a 9 shank case 2500 with case Steiger 550hd. We have found old farm foundations that we never knew was there.

Oh man I love that big bud!! Another positive thing when youre tearing up the ground is that oxygen will have a better access to the soil, which will help the new plants in spring to grow better. Love all youre vids btw👍🏻👍🏻
Nothing like a deep ripper for finding rocks. The good thing about fracturing the soil is the roots go down which helps the plant but also puts organic matter deeper in the soil helping to deepen the topsoil layer

Hello again fellows , when you are deep ripping its best to keep your speed at around 4.5 miles per hour, gives you better results, also less chance of breakage, I know you have big acreage but less speed is more with this work, you have hard pan and maybe the ground is hard from the permafrost as well, those big lime stone looking rocks will also do a lot of damage to the points if you travel much faster, it might be better to add a couple of extra ripper tines be a little wider to make up for lower gear at 4.5 miles to me 4.5 miles per hour is a sweet spot for the Big Bud, its doing a hell of a good Job, Best Wishes & Regards Trevor.W.Bacelli.
