lol, my TH-cam app wasn't working so I force stoped it and deleted the cache, opened the app again and this video was on top of my feed... destiny

Force Stop is kind of like when you close an app on Windows using Task Manager

You need to tell people that "Clear Cache" is ok but that they should normally stay away from "Clear Data".

Romeo Diyong it erases your data from that app, for instance, clearing data on the facebook app will make you log in again when you open it again, like a fresh install

Romeo Diyong clear cache shouldn't affect facebook. Since most of the Cached data is used for loading pictures or posts you viewed before faster. It won't affect Facebook from working properly.

hey Gary so is it advisable to clear cache frequently... does this in any way hampers OS of phone... I usually do this for my FB, chorme and snapchat app as they store lot of data in cache...!!!!

cs entry is stoped in my tablet when I system update it. I have stored many data in cs entry if I do clear chase the apps my saved data will be delated or not?
This video seems to be aimed at people who have come to Android from Apple, as this is very simple common knowledge to most Android folks! lol Also, it is exactly the same as on Windows you open Task Manager and click 'end task and close'. Common sense and everyone knows it (unless you use Apple products...)

This is AWESOME!! So glad I found you! No one else has explained anything so clearly so it's easy to comprehend! I'm pretty smart, but I'm only minimally techy. So this makes perfect sense without the usual condescending arrogance or unnecessary blather. Can I just CALL you when I have a question?!! :) :) I recently did something and when I was done it said, "All 352 apps are safe." THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY TWO??!!! I thought I had 30 or 40!! Maybe they should have asked if I have a family before they force in the Family app...and so on and so on...
What about if the SETTINGS are misbehaving , like whenever I try to give an app permissions of "display over other apps" everything crashes and the settings tell me "settings keep stopping" that's it. And not just the display over other apps even other stuff like install unknown apps and it really annoys me but I'm not sure about what's gonna happen when I force stop the settings so that's why
My game app wasn't working. I clicked on it, and it just didn't come up, did force stop, and still doesn't let me click on it
My clear cache button is not working. I was trying to clear it because my Google is sending me the message “Unfortunately Google has stopped”. Pushing the force stop button didn’t do anything.
And again, when I push clear cache it dos the same thing as when I push the Google search bar, nothing, it won’t respond at all.
Even in settings (the settings button wasn’t responding), I had to drag it up to the top of the screen to apps in Order to access the cache button which doesn’t respond, & the force stop which when I push it, it does push and it goes backs to the apps screen without correcting anything.
Can you help ?

Why when i delete an app are stil some files in internal memory? I first force stop,delete data and after that i uninstall the app itself. Can you explain? Thank you for your amaizing videos.
Decebal Trandafir all apps that have storage permission can write and read from /sdcard folder (not actually on a SD card, it is just named this way for historical reasons). all files that you can see through file explorer apps are in fact within this folder, provided you are not rooted. this folder is like a public forum or dust bin for apps. all of them can read and write everything there, so apps tend to litter there and it is impossible for them to take care of it when they are uninstalled. you can simply delete all the files you can see, provided that you back up all the important files like pictures or downloaded music.

so when clean master empty some space on my phone by deleting cashe files , does that mean it's a waste of time since the apps will download the cashe files again as i open them ???

Question - Till Android M, tapping the "Clear cache" button on any app's info screen used to leave behind some amount of cache. For example, if it had 2 MB cache, after tapping "Clear cache", it would go down to 200 KB or something. But since Android N, the entire cache gets nuked to 0. Did anyone else notice this? Why is it so?

I'm trying to uninstall Game Centre and Oppo App Store. I've uninstalled the updates, cleared cache and cleared data.
It doesn't allow me to disable. The only thing left is a force stop.
Will this get rid of the aforesaid undesired pre installed apps?

What happens if an app has a close button and I use it? Are there differences?

Swiping just closes it in the foreground but stopping it does that completely... Fully shuts it down vs running as a background process (still running)

Does killing a process clear the cache also ? What's the need for "clear cache" after "force stop" ?
No killing the process just removing the current running copy of the app from memory. It doesn't change any of the files owned by the app.

I am slightly confused about caches. So, when you mentioned "files owned by the app" did you mean some kind of application-level caching that is provided for each app by android, not the CPU cache right ? Also, can an android app have its own cache [independent of the CPU L1, L2 caches] ?
Also, what is the difference between force-stopping an app and exiting it normally ?
Goutham Kolluru You are confusing CPU caches (L1, L2 etc) and the apps cache of files which is managed by the app itself. This video is about the latter.
After watching this video and the last video, I wouldn't mind learning a bit about how memory leaks occur. Not sure if there's enough to talk about for a full video though.
In huawai nova 3i.... if Hivision apps mistakely press force stop button.... secreen icon also delete....app link also hide...cache also all clear..& i did not found that apps in play store....in that condition how to reopen that apps again
