Let me show you how to thrift like a PRO and help your teen develop her sense of style at the thrift!
Thrifting is such a joy and we had a riot making this clothing haul together recently.
It's easy to know what to wear when you've developed your sense of style over time. Why not teach our daughters to do this from a young age? Why not teach them thrifting tips?
-Thrift shopping is earth friendly
-Thrift shopping offers a great variety of styles to chose from
-Thrift shopping is healthy (flame retardants have had a chance to wear off)

My daughter thrifted with me when she was young...years later when she got married her wedding dress was vintage, under 30 dollars and the wedding was boho with mismatched china, lace tablecloths, fresh lemons etc...It was so beautiful it was featured in a magazine!
Ur daughter is so adorable , so cute... Her clothing outfits were so cute on her , she found some nice thing's . I love when little girl's are not growing up way too fast good for her n u being a good modest Mom, I'm shocked when I see young ladies dressing like stripers ... Tfs 😊
HA! We call them "Prostitots"... I mean, I love a shapely dress for momma, but my heaven... I saw a 14 year old at Costco last month and I wanted to grab a blanket from the home section and wrestle her to the GROUND!
I live in Los Angeles. I feel like doing that on a daily basis!
I love how unique and modest her style is, plus she really knows her style!

For years I tried to tell my grandson the great clothing you can buy at the Thrift Shops. He would give me the look of really gramma!? He went away to College and came back and said, you know what’s really in gramma Vintage clothes. I bought a few Vintage shirts at the Thrift store they are really neat. I just kinda smiled and said that’s great sweetie.
That's right Gram! Good job!
You might want to teach her some sewing skills too. Alterations are sometimes necessary; hemming pants, turning up sleeves, etc. I love thrifting too!

I was so happy to hear you mention Dave Ramsey my husband and I used Larry Burkett budget program to get out of debt and my husband retired at age 55. I teach a Life Skills class at our local pregnancy resource center this week I focused on food shopping and will cover thrift store shopping.
What a great lesson for mothers and their daughters in shopping. Your daughter has great taste.
Cute, cute. She did such a good job. She has a J. Crew style. Very classic. Thank you for teaching modesty. It's rare these days. I love thrifting and have found some fabulous things. I splurge on the handbags and save on almost everything else.
Thank you for your encouragement. I LOVE to splurge on a handbag too. That's why I thrift. So I don't have to say know to fab shoes and bags.

I love this video. I shared it with my daughter who is a college aged thrifter. I could just see her teaching her daughter this one day. She has purchased some very nice things for very little money. She even buys me things!
Tres belle jeune fille! Elle est adorable. She is so self-assured and amazing to watch. All this because her parents love her deeply, she is surrounded by sibbling who love her also as well as being homeschooled which helps her develop her taste and her own personality without peer pressure which can be so negative. Great video! Good tips. We had a rummage sale we "hit" every year when my girls were little. It was a doctor, who only had 1 daughter a few years older than mine. We would be so excited to go each year. This little girl was spared nothing - and most of the items had the original tags and unworn. We would line up before, like an estate sale...teeheee...one time, we beat another mother I knew and her little girl to the sale. ....she left crying..."they bought all the pretty dresses mama" Storybook dressess....I couldn't not buy them!
Oh man, this reminds me of the "Barrington Sale" Amélie mentioned in this video. Back in Chicagoland I used to shop just TWICE a year in a super affluent suburb and stock UP. It was AMAZING! Awwwww.... I bet you guys figured it out and I bet she has the best memories.
Once upon a child is an awesome shop. They are so picky about the clothing they buy, so most of the stuff is brand new. My daughters whole wardrobe either comes from there or marshalls. Its great when you have babies who grow out of clothes every three months. The best part, if the clothes are still in really good condition, you can sell it back to them. Platos closet is also a good place for older teenagers or for yourself.
Wow that pink plaid top with the ruffles! I had the exact top when I was 17 (in 2006) and I loved it lol. I absolutely love her style. My mom dressed me so similarly. So classic.

I know so many others have said this, but I have to chime in too-your daughter is so adorable and beautiful! And I love her straightforward demeanor. Also, on another topic, your skin is so beautiful, and I really enjoyed watching your moisturizing routine in another video! Not long ago, I discovered the miracle of putting organic plain yogurt on skin as a mask. When you wash it off, your skin appears visibly younger-it's amazing. I highly recommend it if you've never tried it! God bless you!

Adorable! 100% thrift store shopping here at my home. My now adult children have adopted the same love and thriftiness that they grew up with. Why pay full price for something when you can get it for next to nothing. Loved the video. Your daughter sure is a gem.

I would compliment Daddy on how handsome he looked - He’d say- your Mom probably bought it off some dead guy’s wife at a garage sale 🤣. Mama had 4 kids - We were always fashionably dressed. Mama would see someone dressed poorly & remark - There’s ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE FOR NOT LOOKING FABULOUS- You can get a beautiful wool Ralph Lauren skirt for $5 for goodness sakes !!!!
I'm SO glad you enjoyed the video... my #joiedevivre involves so much more than just home design...I LOVE your Mama's quote! It's SO TRUE! It's SUCH an egalitarian culture... we all have access to SO MUCH. There's NO excuse for looking like crap:)
I once got my ex-husband two suits from a thrift that were a high end brand. The pants hadn't even been cuffed and they fit perfectly. More recently I found my current (and last) husband a Valentino suit in a thrift. We also found a Brooks Brothers one at Salvation Army for $3.50. On close inspection, the sleeve had a cut in it. It was a glen plaid and we took it to a weaver. He fixed it for about $8 and you couldn't even see the spot.

I love it! My children primarily wear drifted and yard sales clothing. They each have their own style, for Sure!
You know that beautiful orange coat she obviously shores and feels amazing wearing? It's getting a scooch short on the sleeves. 😘 there's an easy fix! Faux fur!!!! A nice thick cuff on the sleeves, a bit around the collar, a strip on the hem, good for years to come!!! ❤

This is one of my favorite videos. Your daughter is adorable, cute smile , kind personality. I try to do things with them that will make memories to last. I host vintage Tea Parties for them, bought them vintage paper doll sets, just anything girlie and sweet. I found a new winter long coat at Salvation Army for $20.00. I put new buttons on it. My aunt and uncle had clothing stores. They knew the label. The coat was $200.00 in a store

So important to spend that time with your sweet daughter. She will treasure it and you will see the fruits of your time and wisdom in her. I hope Joel teaches her how a man that loves her should treat her. There is a Christian movie out about some police officers who make a pact to teach their daughters how precious they are and how they should be loved and respected by boys and men in their lives. Wish l could remember the title...🤔 l see that you and Joel model those things in your relationship. Well done!
I did the same for my daughter at that age. One of her favorite outfits was a Laura Ashley jumper, brand new and turtle neck sweater. We found Esprit, and lots of cute things. She is now 34 and still buys most of her clothing at thrift stores, and with the money she saves-she recently remodeled her kitchen (single girl)!

Oh, Amélie is simply lovely! I love 'op-shopping' (thrifting) with my little girl - and I think it really helps them develop a personal style as opposed to the generic fast-fashion that clutters the stores. Great video!

throughout the year i buy all my childrens clothes from the thrift store ,mine dont wear unicorns or glitter either i used to keep it a secret so she woudnt feel crummie or get teased but you know what everyone says she has style she wears the name brands but she can put a outfit together on her own she s11 years old and has been styling herself for years xx

A thrift store is a wonderful place for deals. Some people can't see pass the word "thrift" or "second hand". My little preteen dresses very girly , classic style too. Just last night we were watching pbs's Little Women and she tell me I don't see why we don't dress like that still. So now I will be sewing up 1700s and 1800s style dresses for my girls.
Amélie is so sweet and beautiful! I wish one day our girls could meet one another...They have so many things in common. We absolutely love thrift shopping for clothing. The prices also make it affordable for the kids to make their own purchases (with parental permission, bien sûr). This gives them such a great feeling of independence and gratification to be able to get so much for their money.
I love Amélie's "fashion show" at the end. Oh, and that winter white and black plaid shirt with the black Peter Pan collar is très parisienne 💙
