I'm American international buisness man and almost 60 now. I've lived in Asia, Europe and US. I've traveled (>3 million miles on American Airlines) to every continent in the Northern Hemisphere throughout the late 80's right up to 2019. I never gave a second thought to hiding my American Citizenship. I felt not only proud to be an American but privileged and protected. I wouldn't advise this behavior today. The balance of world power has definitely changed.

Being an American is not what it once was. 5 years ago, I was denied service at a coffee shop in Saudi Arabia, because the owner figured I was an American. The guy behind me said" Not American.
