Very well delivered Lt Kevin. Too many people out there teaching bad, unusable techniques and also 'big timing' their ability. Calm, clear, superbly demonstrated!! Thank you.
This guy really knows what he's talking about. It's great! I'm gonna watch it over again i need to practice and i like to learn from great instructors.
Have been watching / studying the art / science of baton strikes , to various parts of the human body for quite a while now , and I must say , with a background as both a Military Police Officer , as well as in another capacity I can't divulge at this time , this man is impressive , and right on the money. Trust me when I say , very few instructors are this competent in their profession. Many thanks to Lt. Kevin for his time and expertise. 👍⚖️‼️
You are so right Lt, we get strike, strike, or jab or block. In real world contact and cover, there should be an officer with a less than lethal option and the cover officer ready to use lethal if needed. If an officer is alone and has his baton, your use of the deflecting leveraging hand is necessary knowledge for a swift resolution. Good stuff guys.
Outstanding vid and techniques. I've been an Armed contractor for years and carry oc only in addition to my sidearm, but just received my Baton permit. Your vid definately adds to what the required course taught us. Thnx👍
im a late night Uber eats driver carrying around a baton for months. Never used it yet and finally this is my first baton training. Ive learned something. Thank you.
I took some of this on board in my training scenario for my officer safety training assessment, first scenario was bob the dummy as above and I had to kick and punch it, I also threw in a few palm distraction strikes.
I don't really like the defensive technique at 6:45 because let's say a guy tries to grab you with his left hand and you use these two hand baton technique to block him, you automatically leave your left side unprotected and the attacker probably punches you with his right hand unless you are super fast.
2:50 The former cop that trained me was also very robust with his striking. Hats off to these men and women who risk their lives for our country and communities. #SheepDogs
I understand but then we couldn't follow the trainer's movements. He's trying to instruct us so he needs to go slower so we can follow his movement and techniques. I'm sure when they're alone in class he'll go faster.
Excellent video thank you. I envy you....your baton closes so easily, you close it with your hands....the hard part of using a baton is folding it back....
I see with the part where you grab top and bottom of the stick, “the drive down”. Is the aiming of that... Directed at the hips specifically? The idea being that you are occupying the base of their centre line with the baton and taking out the bottom of their center of gravity? I just noticed that it wasn’t directed at his chest
Just get the tazer out . . . Seriously, that instruction was a lot better than what I was taught. I learned just 2 moves, whip overhand and whip underhand.
One small but very important thing I would like to know is which one is better to draw the baton as soon as we feel threatened or to draw it right before the attack?
great video and good trainin... im a armed security officer at both jobs but tryin to become a police officer... only thing thats stoppin me is the pt test... i cant pass the pt but in due time though... thank you for your service as well...
What do they test you on when it comes to being an armed security officer the shooting part of the test do you have to aim certain targets or what I’m in the process of being one ??
@@callmesupreme1533 Armed Security (here) has to score a 80% and better on their shooting range qualifiations, along with Unarmed prior to applying or certifiing as armed. Basically, you have to know the basics of unarmed security, techniques, interviewing, fire-control, basic first aid, etc etc the things that need the job to function... then you move onto just firearms training, basic pistol introduction, firearm-safety, duty-belt setup and holster requirements, understanding stances, movement, how to strip/field-strip your firearm, how to work your firearm, etc etc Then the ACTUAL Range training, all of this is usually done by a state certified instructor-- who will obeserve you as a group and one-on-one, shooting from close range (speaking distance), 1-4m then 7m and 15m. 3 Lines basically. 1-4m close range 7m mid range 15m 'long' range You must qualify and reach a minimum of 80% on all 3 satisfactory to the instructor (he has to testify usually, if you're involved in a shooting, aswell as having to live with the fact, he passed you... and he must ensure you're able to shoot worth a shit). Once the instructor is satisfied you are qualified. Paperwork is done and ceritifcations passed out. We here must qualify EVERY year again, with a state certified instructor. We must score a 80% and better every time. It is ENCOURAGED that you take the information you learned and apply it, train with it, and seek further instruction and training while off-duty for yourself and to ensure your skills are improved. Perfect training makes perfection. - Train with the firearm you will carry as Armed Security (if you're hired, or being hired) or train with the firearm you carry (like a Glock 19, 9mm) and qualify with it. You must RE-QUALIFY if you carry a different handgun (eg, .45 or .40 or .357, same goes with rifles and shotguns you must re-qualify when changing calibers) - Train with the Holster/Belt and Ammunition you'll be carrying (eg; Range ammo is fine, but shooting your ACTUAL ammunition you'd carry is better). Holsters can be tricky, Especially lvl2/3 holsters often required by security / LEOs to carry openly a firearm. - Train to drop stuff like a notepad or pen from your hands, or even a flashlight or other item like a cup, when training to use a firearm. This trains you to get ready to fight, DROP EVERYTHING THAT ISN'T REQUIRED. Get your hands on the gun, seated right, and be ready to shoot. You can't shoot safely with a cup in your hand. Importantly: CHECK YOUR INSTRUCTORS. Ensure you have a GOOD isntructor. Ensure they are licensed, Certified and Qualified to do so. Do research, ask around, ask for refrences. You don't want just ANY old instructor, you want a instructor who cares and gives a shit about YOUR well-being, and YOUR future and about THE PUBLIC which trusts you to carry a gun safely... just like police, just like authority figures, just like other guards. The public TRUSTS you are won't mishandle the gun. All in all, do your research. Do your INDEPTH research and don't just assume! Seek guidance, Seek knowledge, Seek further education... One other thing worth mentioning: Get certifications in First-aid and other Red-Cross courses such as AED Training, BLS (Basic life support) training, Mental-Health training (knowing how to deal with people having episodes or mental health issues, safely and properly). These certifications and training can boost your career and open doors in security, aswell expand to all other jobs or position.
@@aandyherr817 thank you very helpful information 💯 the first aid class I have thought of taking and BLS ,mental health that’s a smart idea I needed this information
That's what integrated means. You missed the whole point of this video completely. You are supposed to use your hands or other tools to give your self the opportunity to draw the baton.
Stick v stick, this guy could beat any FMA instructor. All of them practice flow, and such, and they telegraph everything. Just look at the explosive power of his shots. He even calls out his telegraph at 3:32.
Is that a 16” or 21” baton? My youngest son was in the USAF Security Service for three tours in Baghdad back in the day. He said he liked the 16” baton the best. But then again, he’s 6’-9” tall and already has plenty of reach.
What would you recommend for a manual through Applegate maybe used electric wheelchair scooter kind of thing so there's two parts of that sometimes there's a friend of mine Anton electric wheelchair and myself I use a wheelchair wheelchair scooter
This stuff will help me at my mall security guard job. I'm only allowed to carry my Radio Shack plastic 6 cell Flashlight and plastic handcuffs and yes I have a cloth badge!
Thank you, sir. It would be great if more officers got better baton training so they don't just beat civilians with the same 2 strikes until they're disarmed or uploaded.
Kevin leaves his face and head open to counter strike a lot! That is a side effect of these hybrid Martial Arts moves. Not personally a fan of palm strikes to the head for basic police officers. But, all training is better than no training.
Yeah I would definitely not try any of this stuff with a baton. Go look up "Defensive Baton Basics" by Officer Jared, thats much more likely to end up protecting your own self. Strike hard and move fast, none of this "do this then do this and then finally do this" which will never work in a real life situation.
great training. retired, rank has no meaning. on the job, just means a boss and pay grade. keep the good training vids. drop the rank, get over yourself. prove your worth by actions
I love his passion but half of those moves are not practical for a cops lifestyle but for a Martial Arts teacher yes. Police Officers do too many long hours, you have to put time on the development and maintenance of these techniques. Skills deteriorate if not practice. Now a short cut to all these moves are tools which trump skills like pepper spray gel or a teaser. These tools are easy to master, even at a short distances. Pepper Spray gel doesn't mist and a teaser can be shot from the hip at close quarters.
Very well delivered Lt Kevin. Too many people out there teaching bad, unusable techniques and also 'big timing' their ability. Calm, clear, superbly demonstrated!! Thank you.

i dont know where you live but be very careful! if you aren't law enforcement or security carrying it can be a felony
Good old Police work here makes a lot of sense to do this this way.
This guy is Truly a COMBAT MASTER, AMEN
Thank you Sir and
Please more TRAINING VIDEOS.
The Lt. clearly has his game on. Very good training. TY Sir!

Lt. Kevin Dillon is a top class instructor, best strategy-tactics video.
Very easy to understand the main ideia of integrate hand to hand and baton techniques.
Great work, sir.

Outstanding, you gave me more tools in my toolbox for my students

Interesting, but it would be great to see the partner throw full speed attacks rather than slow motion half-movements.
I understand but then we couldn't follow the trainer's movements. He's trying to instruct us so he needs to go slower so we can follow his movement and techniques. I'm sure when they're alone in class he'll go faster.
Martin was like "Oh not me again...."
I trained in the ppct up in nova scotia, I think its a good system.
Friggin awesome defense video. I'm not an officer, just a civilian. Great take away to not use a firearm first, but last.
Excellent training video. Hitting a moving target is also important. Hanging a tire on a tree can give you practice hitting a moving target.
he is good, he uses some interesting principles and his techniques are for less than lethal force, really nicee
Excellent explanations.
Thanks for sharing your video.
Have some video showing techniques using the Tonfa?
Why can't baton training classes be as good as this guy?
Excellent video thank you. I envy you....your baton closes so easily, you close it with your hands....the hard part of using a baton is folding it back....

Very, very, very good presentation. This guy gets it.
You can apply arnis technique in this weapon
I see with the part where you grab top and bottom of the stick, “the drive down”.

Great teacher.Thank you!
I love the take down technique that one with the kick, looks highly effective ur vids the best I seen so far
Thank you! How can one improve reflexes without having a dummy?
I believe the baton is a monadnock autolock with power safety tip.
Handgun Carry Permitting Class £

Do it from holstered baton position. You dont walk around with it drawn out.

Plastic handcuffs? Nice joke.
Thank you
efficient and simple, great vid
yep looks good!
Thank you sir🙏
Omg...that was so awesome!!!!
awesome system, i believe this could be effective
EXCELLENT TRAINING
Damn chaining together strikes like its street figyer
That was very informative, enjoyed it very much. I dunno if it was the camera, but the flags were set up wrong, American flag goes on the left.
Thank you, sir. It would be great if more officers got better baton training so they don't just beat civilians with the same 2 strikes until they're disarmed or uploaded.
Need to train in the use of force continues. All of them.
What if the opponent size is like the Big Show giving a choke hold ?
yo i think the dummy is the wrong color
One word. Awesome.
Are carrying those bottons legal??
Thank you sir

Point it straight down and knock the tip hard on the ground once to release one section and then a second time to release the other section.

Good training. Just a note on proper display of U.S. flag. Always goes on the right hand side of the presenter; on the audiences left.
great training. retired, rank has no meaning. on the job, just means a boss and pay grade. keep the good training vids. drop the rank, get over yourself. prove your worth by actions
I always start my fights with shin and groin kicks.
How long is a standard baton class sir?

Imagine he hits the guy’s arm by accident 😬
