That's about the best and correct way to remove the lens, cutting through the lens itself and not the headlight housing. Removing the remaining of the lens from the housing is a bit time consuming but will lead to a quality end result and completely sealed housing. Great job there!

I should have watched this video before I opened my lenses. I ended up touching the chrome on the inside by accident as I was wiping one spot and damaged the chrome. Is there a fix for that or just leave it as is? unless I repaint everything black in there maybe...

just leave it as is. if this is little bit damage then don’t paint black. chrome look is better then black. as my opinion. best of luck

No heat gun ?
Bmw is using high quality silicone. You can’t open with heat gun. I tried to open with heat gun. Over heat can burn the back frame
