Here's my 2nd out of 3 new playthroughs from the latest Leprous album.

I am 60 years old, of that, I spent 30 years off and on playing drums. When The song kicks in at the 20 second mark, I am sitting here going "WTF" ? Usually I can get my head around a pattern and at least understand more or less how it is played. So I slowed the playback down to half speed on this video and it is just incredible how much control and independence you have. You are different, creative, and if had just 10% of the energy you play with, I would be thrilled. Keep up the great work.

To be able to approach these songs like this, this band let's him just go buck nutty on these songs but he manages to make it sound like nearly orchestral movements. It's damn impressive to watch and hear it all unfold.

I've only recently gotten into Leprous. I found out about them when I heard that they were the backing band for Isahn. Having been a huge fan of his for a long time, I had no doubt that they would be good. They are so much more than I expected. It's so different and Baard is on another level. I'm in awe of his abilities.
Everything about this was insane... The sound, the control, the creativity, your dynamics around the kit. Damn. Killer.

The massive tone from double pedals, floor toms and tom-tom in this song really driven the energy of the song. You are one of the kind that have that speciality to that kind of drum works! Excellent job

What's up with the red phone?
I think its just a studio thing, probably experimenting with sounds.
Seems to be a so-called "wurst" microphone. (Germans call something "sausage (Wurst)" if it doesn't matter and/or is crap). It's basicall just put in there to have a general ambient microphone you can dial in to your liking. It doesn't have to sound good, some say its even better if it sounds really crappy. It's just their to make the sound less clinical. You just compress the fuck out of it and mix it in. No EQing or noisegates.

I have been following your work for years (even caught a show in OH, USA!) and finally started disecting this piece about one year ago. I'm to the point where I can play the notes, but the dynamics will never be there.
I find it difficult to imagine where your head has to be to come up with this stuff, let alone play it. If I ignore complexity of the music, I can actually feel the effort and emotion you put into your writing and performance, but I am just an observer and can't feel it for myself. That's a difficult pill to swallow, but inspirational to know it's possible.

This is all-around awesome! Amazing even at 0.5 speed :D. Could you please explain what your left leg does from about 2:35 to 3:00? Pedalling the high-hat? I am not a drummer, so have hard time figuring out :).
He's just tapping with is feet to keep time :)
A good drummer keeps time with his left foot. You can hear the foot tapping a lot on this album and I love it. Mirage and Malina are very apparent
