Interior looks great, love that you took the effort to choose a pattern with a colour that matches. The small details add up to make a huge difference, really well done!
I bought the hardtop from this car earlier in the year, it's all restored now, I relined the roof in Golf Gti tartan fabric which brightens the interior up. You sold me a load of bits n bobs which have all come in useful on my Midget, cheers buddy
I had 5 1/2 Sprites Mk 2 and Mk3 back in the 80s.... i worked all week so i could drive on the weekend, and repeat for the next 11 years... i would do it all again... You have a great design approach!!! Don't stop. Im in Litchfield County Ct, 45 minutes from Lime Rock Park!!!.. and a new subber..
oh that's great to hear :) they are great cars but definitely a labour of love! If I had all the time I spent on old cars, Id spend it all the same too. Fixing things is great for the soul, thank you for the kind words I do appreciate the support :)
You have inspired me to get off my tail-end and back into the re-trimming of my Rickman Ranger. It entails new door cards with more solidity to them and multiple materials!, newish seats in leather, & a completely new dash layout as the old one was that of an Escort van! with the Mexico instruments! They will be kept but in a new fascia layout in fiberglass bound in foam and leather to match the other leather highlights on the doors, center consul and gear-nob!
Ahh thanks buddy I appreciate the kind words, that's great to hear! I'm a huge kitcar aficionado. My father always said I was into cars from day 1 but building a Robin Hood with him at a very young age sent me on the spiral that would leave my life revolving around classic cars. The classic car community is so great. Would be great to see some pics off the Rickman, I bet I have only ever seen a handfull over the years but always liked the idea of owning one at some point! I think Kitcars hit differently for me with the amount of re-using parts from other car manufacturers, the only thing better than recycling is re-using!
Love the build. My first car was a ‘64 Austin Healey Sprite Mk II…USDM…but have always longed for a Bug Eye! Love your artistic approach to your engineering. Look fwd to more on this build. 😀👍👍
Thanks Jonathan, They are great little cars aren't they, full of spirit! The bug eyes just have something about them don't they! I much prefer the midget rear end though especially with the more usable boot 'space'. I appreciate the kind words and support thank you :)
Cool little car. I have a 64 midge. Just installing a Jimny gearbox myself, think same one you have used (R7ME). I will first put in on my a-series and if that grenades I'll probably go for a M16A vvti from a swift Sport. The gearbox fits inside the tunnel without cutting
that would be interesting to see more off! are you updating anywhere on socials? I wanted the engine as far back as possible for handling reasons which is why I made the tunnel a touch bigger, also I had so many rust repairs to do it wasnt much more work anyway
What a cool project, nicely done!. I have a 71 Midget, I call it the MGeo since it has a Geo Metro 1.0L 3-cyl and samuri 5 speed. It has a custom fiberglass front end, suicide doors, a custom 3-link. I wish I had something on its build on my channel, but it was built before youtube.. It was made to get 100mpg, it weighs about 1000 lbs, fiberglass everything, custom everything, I fabricated what I call a modern bugeye front end, it uses e-class headlights. only original unmodified part are the front a-arms and shocks. I put on aluminum calipers and smaller diameter rotors, the stock calipers are very heavy. I got some 1984 C4 corvette seats, they are very light. The car is so small, there is no point in having sliding seats, you are going to have them all the way back always, so it occurred to me to just eliminate the rear of the corvette seats, and just the rear sheet metal, and put the padding on it. My project has stalled for 10 years now. I have driven it, but once I converted the doors to open from the front (makes it MUCH easier to get into the little car), I had more work to do, and then I've moved shops 3 times since them.
@@mike_wallhead I built it before youtube. I had a build thread on a forum, but its not really working anymore. I would like to put it on my channel as voice over still photos, but who has time for that, I got cars to finish. thanks for your interest.
Thank you :) I appreciate that I know everyone enjoys watching different styles but I often find there's a lot of waffling on these sort of videos so try to keep things moving at a decent pace :) I appreciate the support thank you
@@mike_wallhead yeah they are like hens teeth now. I had a modified 1300s ( not super, so only one s lol) fiesta in the late 80s, which had these wheels fitted.
I love what you’ve done with this even though it wouldn’t be my personal choice - I’m trying to keep my Midget fairly standard looking, though it has a K series engine/type 9 box etc etc.
The beauty of simplicity
Finished watching the video now, it looks amazing
Thanks Simon, I appreciate the support
Excellent video Mike
Thank you, I appreciate the support! :)

Good to see another classic saved from the scrapheap. Mega work Mike, can't wait to see this on the road!

Oh yeah I do recall! :) Id love to see the roof lining and some updates on yours! Nice to see some out of the box thinking with fabrics :)
What a beaut, love the ducktail

Those are called Tee nuts on this side of the pond. Nice work!

Thats a really good shout inverting the doors! Nice solution, have you got a build thread or any Info on socials? Would be great to see!
I had a snoop on your TH-cam, some cool looking content but couldnt see anything on the MGeo, Il be following :)

@@mike_wallhead I did put up one video on it on my personal channel. I see it was 12 years ago..th-cam.com/video/gBP8npRmRjg/w-d-xo.html
Love the videos mate, you have a great eye for detail, really impressive.
@@danielhagan1451 thank you :) I do appreciate the kind words and the support!
@mike_wallhead the wheels are Fiesta Supersport by the way, XR2s had pepperpots, what you have are much rarer.
Really enjoyed watching this, great work from both of you 👍
Cheers Khader :) Appreciate that, thanks for the support
Really love the videos, good pacing to them, a nice balance between talking and doing. Looking forward to the next one 👍

Another awesome video, and the nuts you used I believe are pronged Tee nuts.
Thats the one! Cheers T!
Another great build, can’t wait to see what this can do. Love the lightweight build and the new interior.
Thanks Stu, Appreciate the support
The wheels would be from a fiesta 1300 supersport 😊
thats the one! I only remembered it was a fiesta, they were hard to find in that offset I know that much

You beaut!
Spire nuts or clinch nuts
This is going to be a one hit wonder
Awesome work Mike, simple yet thought through 🤌🏻
