    I graduated high school in 1984. I thought these were dumb back because they didn't have a V8 and rear wheel drive, but now I think it's cool. Especially compared to the overcomplicated junk they make today. I'd like to have one.

      I graduated in 81 and bought an 86 LX with the GT options and that 5.0 never lost to any 4 banger back then. I almost felt bad for them after a while

    Growing up in Detroit in the '70s & '80 My Grandmother worked for Chrysler and I will never forget when She brought one of these home right before Christmas in '85..!!! In fact She got it in October for the brand new '86s, I was in the 8th grade. Man, she let me drive it and I will never forget it..!!! Not bad for the K Series, huh... Love You Always, Grandma Earlene....LONG LIVE CHRYSLER & IMPERIAL MOTORS...!!!.

    You gotta give it to Iaccocca - a turbo and leather seats on a chopped down K Car. It works! She's a beaut. Good luck.

      So Chrysler was a Ford property or did he leave Chrysler to work for Ford or GM afterwards? I can't even remember if Chrysler is still around. I know they merged with Mercedes to form Daimler-Chrysler but that's about it.

    Those are pizza wheels. The Swiss cheese ones literally looked like Swiss cheese. Similar but with more holes in it. Personally these are the best wheels. The Ninja wheels of the 90's looked great but losing the plastic inner piece was a pain. Then there was the crab wheels. Those and the pizzas were the best. There were also some plastic ninja looking wheels that came out on some CSX's? Didn't last. Don't forget about the 1986 Chrysler Daytona Pacifica. Best featured Daytona ever. I miss these cars. Best times of my life.

    Really nice looking Laser. I hope it finds a good home. I had a new 84' Dodge Daytona turbo in the same color. I never cared for the digital dash either and had the analog. Living in MA also I can attest to what the crap weather here will do to a car over a few winters.

  • @Underappreciatedclassics

    With the options it has. This might be a 1 off… plus it will last a long long time if the turbo and headgaskets/timing is maintained. I’d love to have it!

    My first car back in 87/88 was a black (with red stripe) 84 Laser XE Turbo automatic, fully loaded except no leather (which I preferred anyways). Bought it off some old lady who really didn't know what the car was worth, and basically drove it like a teenager for several years. Fun times! 😁

    I had the '85 Laser XE w/2.2L turbo with the same exterior color but light gray/gray cloth interior back in 1989 during my college days. It had the digital dash, power windows, locks, and seat. Wish it had the turbo boost gage, but got the animation screen instead. Always had mod fever, so I upgraded the whole ECU to one from Direct Connection, the Mopar Performance Division, which provided another 3.5 psi boost and different timing & fuel mapping. I also degreed (slotted) the cam sprocket (retarded 4 deg) to reduce turbo lag and provide more midrange punch, as well as had a local muffler shop put a custom cat-back in with a 2 or 2 1/4" dia. mid-pipe, with a DynaMax muffler and stock oval tip. It move pretty good for what it was.

    My grandpa had an 85 Daytona turbo Z same wheels as this but red car. I have the aftermarket computer for it. He removed it before selling to his friend for his daughter. It takes boost from 7 (on the gauge) to 12psi (as per gauge) and wastegate stays closed until 6500 rpm instead of stock 5500 rpm. Maybe I’ll find one to put it in.

    A friend "gave" me one of these in 98 or 99. I only had it for a few months, it had a lot of problems and I thought I'd be able to fix it but it just had so many electrical gremlins I think it wound up getting scrapped. We did have some fun with it before though, I remember jumping it through a snow bank and pushing shopping carts to like 60mph and watching them crash lol. I wish I still had it now...

    I had an opportunity to buy one of these in 1995 fresh out of high school. It was black on black with the red pinstriping. It was stick, leather and the digital dash. I think it might have had the talking features as well.
    The seller wanted $2,600 for it. I only had $2,000. He didn't want to budge. My dad was with me when we looked at it. He didn't want to lend me the money, taught me to earn everything on my own. That and he said they weren't reliable. I probably would have gotten in a lot of trouble. Teenage boy and a relatively fast car... oh boy.

    Saw this on Ebay. Can I get a driving video that shows full throttle acceleration in 2nd gear up to redline? I have looked at so many of these that don't boost right or cut out. Very interested in this one. I used to own an '85 XE and wouldn't mind having another Laser. Also would like to see a cold start video.

    Bro I'm sorry in advance but you say how knowledgeable you are with Chrysler but you said the build quality of the interior was really not so good but in the mid 80's all domestic car interiors were absolute trash, and actually Chrysler was pretty good, at least my '86 Laser was, I bought mine in '96 and it was in excellent condition. Also dude you talk way too much about unimportant stuff, you repeat the same thing over and over you left out many key details about the awesomeness of the digital dash way way ahead of it's time and instead you took the time to explain that Chrysler had changed their radios in 20 years and that's how this on was upgrade to a CD player, bruh 1st of all Chrysler did change their radios but because all radios are a standard size there would have been no problem to install any radio in that space, you're wasting time talking about unimportant stuff when there is so much awesomeness to be said about that car

      Also the window switches were not on the console, I had the fully loaded model with digital dash electric windows ect and the window switches were on the door.

    • @markb3756
      @markb3756 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have to agree about the digital dash. I had a 87 Daytona Pacifica, red with T-Tops, digital dash and the turbo. My window switches were on the door armrests. My interior was like this one but was a lighter shade of gray. Those seats were everything! So comfortable and mine were full power with the inflatable bolsters. The Pacifica trim had unique wheels that were a beast to keep clean. The only thing that went wrong with it was the A/C went out but was replaced under manufacturer warranty. I would LOVE to have my car back today..... 😕

    Cool car. I wish they had given it the Mitsubishi VR-4 AWD system. If you’re powering the front wheels on a Sports/Grand Touring car, then you might as well power the rear wheels, as well, for the sake of performance, fun, and novelty.

    • @houseofno
      @houseofno 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Mitsubishi 3000GT/GTO VR-4/Dodge Stealth didn't come until 1990. The Chrysler Laser was in production from 1984 to 1986. Completely different cars and transmissions. Additionally, Chrysler would have had to reengineer the entire floorpan for the rear driveshaft, as the K-car platform was not engineered to support all wheel drive. In fact, the Diamond Star cars wouldn't arrive until 1988 as 1989 cars running Mitsubishi 2.0L four cylinders, completely different from the much older and less sophisticated 2.2Ls Chrysler was running.
      Not sure how you planned on time travelling from 1990 to 1984 with 1990 Mitsubishi all wheel drive technology or even how you would have funded it, but as long as your flex capacitor was fully charged with plutonium, would have been fun to watch you try, Future Dude.
