As a former teacher I learned that there are very, very few bad apples, if any. As you say, Nick, it's usually damage caused by circumstance; trauma, neglect, etc. Love is the answer. Jenny, as I'm sure you know yourself, the amount of time you have with any soul that you love and care for doesn't change your love for them or the grief you feel when they leave. I lost my dear cat almost 2 years ago now and I still grieve for her. I understand how much you loved Petra as It showed in everything you did for her, you did everything with so much love in your heart. Petra showed her trust and love for you too. For a short time she knew a loving and caring human at the end of her days. Take comfort in that. I'm looking forward to seeing Captain Jack Sparrow (Love the name !) learn to trust and he will. The ominous music had me wondering and then I saw him and was very puzzled, then to see him being naughty, the music made sense, followed by Nick and his gentle hands. I can’t even imagine the abuse and horrors these poor horses go thru being sold to into the meat trade. Thank God he was rescued by the Moons! He can now live where people love and care for him. He will have other horses to makes friends with enjoying the same.

He certainly is. An amazing human/animal chiropractor remarked recently that... though they are such large animals (he was at a draft horse sanctuary at the time), horses have the MOST delicate, sensitive nervous systems. Nick obviously knows this...
I don’t know anything about horse body language, but you can see Jack respond and I think understand when Nick says, “ good boy “. I think someone in his life used to say that to him. Nick is amazing and calm and is gaining his trust. It’s amazing to watch!! ❤️

I had to chuckle when Jack was being ,well, as ponies do. I had every confidence that Nick had the experience to dodge those feet. But darn they can be little stinkers sometimes, especially if they haven’t been handled or get it in their head they just don’t want to. I’ve spent lots and lots of hours with these beautiful creatures, my friend bred those gorgeous Warmbloods( yes, I helped)😳 But truly it is all about trust, both ways.💜 There will never be a bond if you push them to do things and they don’t trust. Good luck! I’ll be watching updates, he’s a little spitfire for sure, lol

No he’s a stallion that’s not been handled and taught to tolerate it. In the wild horses bite each others front legs during fights so it’s instinct to not want anyone touching your legs. It’s a threat. They have no choice but to view humans as another horse.
So pleased you went back to rescue him, he just needs love, patience and kindness, and you are the perfect people to help him. I saw 1 pic of a dog who is 9 years old with lots of medical problems but i knew just from the pic that she was the one. So i brought her home a month ago. The dog coyldnt be a better match for me. Even though I had just lost my beloved Leonberger another Leonberger came up for adoption they're extremely rare . It was unbelievable that makes past and in a month my life I didn't even want to be at home I when he took his last breath it was like my world became dead silent with no love and meaning in it and I was so grateful when Micah came along even though it was as soon as 30 days. Micah has been the joy of my life. I'm so please open your heart it's not about replacing the very best love and friend that you had it's about sharing that love and there's a person out there that is four-legged that needs your love.
