      You and Wade truly made my day today. Thanks so much for the kindness and also for letting us get those shots of Beasley during these crazy floods. God bless and stay safe out there.... I will shoot you an update when this film gets done for sure.

    I've made that trip more that a dozen times in a canoe. I can't imagine doing it on a paddle board. Nice work!!

    I'm guessing that was Nasty Little Dog Leg rapid you entered at 1:12 ? I haven't been there in years but that's my guess.Oh and warm spring at 2:32. ? Geez that's a neat spot.

      @DouglasGreen562 yep spot on with both exactly what they are! I love that Mazatal section so so much. Camping on the river near the saguaro is just so awesome. This trip with my friend Ron was where it really all began for me in regards to understanding the potential of multi-day sup. Like many things this probably my favorite trip of all as we had absolutely no idea how using the Sups would go or work or our ability and we just rolled with it. True adventure and grateful to have got to share it and pioneer w my friend

    I've also paddled that lake in 30mph winds. Total nightmare!

      Haha I know right. We would get these 1 hour gusts where the boards were too light and we couldn't make an inch of progress. At one point I hung out on a log all demoralized lol. I think next time I may end at Sheepbridge since that final bit really was a bit too much trouble.

      We went all the way to horseshoe because we actually had a bad feeling about that happening if we took out at sheeps.... thanks for posting this, good for folks to be aware 👍

    Hey bro nice trip, we want to do this one, iwould like to get some information about the timing an river flow, what's the best time of the year to do it? i

    • @TheCenterfocus
      @TheCenterfocus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! So timing can be tough but basically best shot is march or april after we have a decent snowfall / winter in flagstaff. If we do that meltoff typically slowly drops through those months so you can hopefully plan to launch at levels you like. 300 and up works but 400 to 700 is great. I dont personally like much over 700 as it gets brushy and tight in lower bits below east verde river.

    Is it still considered "stand up" paddleboarding if you're sitting on it the whole time? Why not just use a kayak? You can carry more gear. Is it because a SUP is lighter?

    • @TheCenterfocus
      @TheCenterfocus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ummm not sure if your watching the scene where the guy is standing up.... or understand the majority of the run was done standing up. "The whole time" we are standing in almost every scene in the video. Furthermore that run.... ive many years later done it ALL standing, including the gap run, including punk rock at 550.... the way over many years ive advanced is by getting a feel for the board on one knee, thats what led me to running class 4 in places like browns canyon. In addition that was our first ever multiday trip, we didnt know how to pack or how the board would handle the weight. Learning that was critical to my multiday trips completed on deso grey 8 days, san juan 5 days, rio chama etc etc and now im heading to alaska in 2023. Other sup vids on my channel ie deso grey, chama, all only standing. Its a build up process ive been building on for about 7 years.

      And also yes, on my fly in alaska trip, the 27pound portability is incredible. My buddy is on the Ak smokejumpers up in ak.... class 5 kayaker, training sup now for the ak trip because we can roll it up and shove in floatplane. Just because occasionally a rapid we knee down doesnt mean its not fun standing the rest. Its like saying whats the use of kayaking if you portage 2 of 18 rapids.... and the point is because your running 16 other rapids
