Tom is great. I have that compilation that he is talking about at the beginning. Jimmy Carter Says Yes is a banger. Not a fan of LCD but James seems like a nice dude. Rather just listen to The Fall, Krautrock etc.

You’d rather listen to the fall or krautrock ? I mean he’s said before he has been influenced by / stolen things from bands like Can and the fall… but just because that’s the case doesn’t mean that either that genre or that band is some kind of substitute for LCD. The fall never did anything as danc y (or I would argue quite as fun) as half of LCD’s stuff, and Krautrock… again it’s an influence for sure but CAN for ex. doesn’t have the songwriting craft of much of LCD (this is coming from a massive CAN and the Fall fan.. I recognize CAN doesn’t have songcraft in the traditional sense Because it’s not how they worked out songs, it was much more a controlled chaos kind of thing with them, not saying it because they’re better or worse)… I guess what I’m saying is that you’re getting different things from them, it’s like saying:why like ketchup when you can just like BBQ sauce? Like, They have similarities but they’re still ultimately very different things with different elements, which makes it an odd observation to make…

Man, that is a lot of words! I hear you. Like I said, he seems like a good guy. Everything I’ve heard musically from him just leaves me cold. Just not my thing. Honestly, it comes across to me like all style and no substance....and that’s ok, it’s ok to have fun music. It does sound very derivative to me, kinda like a copy of a copy of a copy. Really sounds like more Talking Heads/ New Wave lite with no fizz left. I guess when I want fun I just grab my 1910 Fruitgum Company albums. Also, I’m not sure what’s wrong with making an odd observation....TH-cam can always use a few more of those. @@dwellynconway4721

I totally respect you’re opinion man. Maybe I’ll get em in 10 years. I think the main thing with them is it really just seems like a lot of hype for very typical, unrevolutionary music. I don’t get what the big deal is, the lyrics are elementary in an uninspiring, typical manner and the music just sounds like electronic new wave pop. I sincerely don’t get why people act like he’s Don Van Vliet. I think he just name checks all the right record collector marks. But again, God Bless em. No hate here. When it comes to current stuff/contemporaries give me Thee Oh Sees. Now that’s some life changing shit, live anyways....or White Fence. I dunno, guess it goes to show, the lie dream etc. @@dwellynconway4721

@MrKGHunter Your comment is pretentious at best
