People are very one-dimensional in their criticism of Lars. All they think about is technical prowess and no, he doesn't measure up to the best in that regard, but it's to blindly dismiss everything else that he is to Metallica to say that he's trash. Kirk isn't the best lead guitarist either, from a technique point of view, but he's written many of our favourite riffs and solos. James doesn't have the best vocal range or versatility, nothing close, but he's been a rock solid frontman of arguably the biggest metal band on the planet for over 35 years and that has to count for quite a lot. Metallica is a whole greater than the sum of its parts, always has been, and anyone who doesn't see that, only cares about individual virtuosity, needs to reconsider what it is they want from music.

And the condition you were discussing is called synesthaesia.
Almost impossible to cover this song but you guys should listen to the cover by the band Agent Orange. Agent Orange was one of if not the first band to mix punk and surf music in one. There version of Seek & Destroy is killer!!!
The Beatles, were pop. Over half of their discography is straight pop music. " I wanna hold your hand" " she loves me yeah yeah yeah" etc.
They pretty much invented metal with their song Helter Skelter
This^
Jeff, totally disagree. Got to give it up to the Kinks- You Really Got Me. Came out in 64, same year the Fab Four were singing I Wanna Hold Your Hand. Helter Skelter came out in 68. Born to be Wild ( which uses the line "heavy metal thunder") came out in 69.

"Greetings from Asbury Park" was a piledriver type of move. But in his WWF days, I think his finisher was a flying headbutt off the top rope. Don't think it had a name.
Since you seem to be enjoying the thrash stuff, you should definitely check out POWER TRIP, amazing modern thrash band. Unfortunately cut short due to the untimely death of their amazing vocalist Riley Gale last year. I'd suggest Executioners Tax as that's the song that got me into them.
A lot of these huge crowds of people are mainly festivals. But you would have to put "Iron Maiden" as one the biggest metal bands.
