Been a subscriber for a good few years now mate and you have had enough nitro engines to know what your doing I would send the engine back and see what they say

I would check to see if the big end bush has spun in the con rod closing off the oil passage to the big end, check it to see that the oil hole in the conrod still lines up with the hole in the big end bush.
Heat cycles are key for running in a fresh built engine or newly bought! Run upto temp then cool dwn then upto temp an repeat like haggard sais everything needs to expand when heating up an contract when cooling down 👍
i hope that long hose on the exhaust didnt create some sort of hydro pressure event..blame it on the old man

I break my motors in the same way. Few tanks at idle on the box to start off with. The one thing I always do is keep a heat gun aimed at the motor for the entire tank. Living in the UK the air temp is way cooler than all these US racers breaking in an engine in the middle of Arizona 😂
I’ve broken in a Novarossi P5 before and that thing was rich! Had to raise the idle tilt the buggy on its side and keep the heat gun on it. Ran like a beast afterwards. Did the same with my Picco P3 but that came a lot leaner from the factory. Heat gun and a hose pipe to keep the noise down. Seems ok so far.
It sounded fine when you ran it so fingers crossed

Very rich low RPM running does put pressure on the bottom end and might cause wear. Strange it has so much wear after only 4 tanks though.
Engine still sounds ok Pal, Take a look at the Dewalt/Milwaukee 18 V Electric Heat Gun w/4 Nozzle Hot Air Gun Cordless. A million times better than those sodding heat jackets for the workshop. Just run them on the lowest setting, 20 to 25 quid with a battery and charger 👊

Nova is an expensive and good machine, but I don't understand why the connecting rod wear machine still runs so smoothly. I have a zx-b ty110% is also connecting rod wear. The big head of the connecting rod measures 4.1mm, and it vibrates a lot when running. It often goes out. You can measure the size of the big head. Generally, the normal range is about 5mm.
You didn t use your heat gun...making fun of the guys that use heat guns, maybe your crank bearings.....good luck, keep up the great vids

im in the uk in southampton realy want to get back in to the nitro cars and truck. I use to have a rex x it was a lot of fun but due to having a back problem its hard for me to do a lot a part from watching your vieos so keep going and if you have any old nitro cars or trucks i would to buy one. but that big end (conrod) is worn like a old engine not good
how must is a new conrod ? mabe better get one to safe the rest of the engine ?

I feel like you should be able to just buy a new connecting rod and replace it. I have replaced many worn rods for nitro aeroplane engines and had great success. Im confident that you can fix your rod bushing with no problem. The amount of wear on that rod will only get worse. Not sure if it will let go and break the crankcase but it certainly won't fix itself or get better.
Pliers got an headache as my grandad used to say! 😊
tank 5 give it some revs atleast 1/4 to 1/2 get it hot no wonder the bottom end was cold
Try to remember Rich this is a video made for entertainment, just because something isn’t shown doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Every tank I have it some revs to clear it out without the pipe on. You’ve been around for a while on my channel mate I know you know I’m not daft. 😜

With Reds I even think, when you do treat the engine properly there is some guarantee (I mean when there is a manufacturing flaw)

I'm looking for an MP9 Kit. Not a ready to Run. But a kit. I love building my own car's. I was recommended a Red or Nova engine for my project.
Kyosho are usually reds but Nova are a good choice!

Thanks for the info.....I have sent Nova your video of your plethora of mistakes for their reference and to understand how the damage occurred....as we all know you wouldn't want Nova to see what you did to that engine. You want a replacement? Good luck with that!

Blatant Liar! Nova did not recall that engine....
Now then Rusty old chap ;) Hmmmm can't see that length of hose causing back pressure to be honest, then engine was on tick over and you were not reving it. It could be a whole myriad of things, manufacturing defect for example. That bearing definitely should not be like that after so little use, you'd expect that after many hours of use. Fingers crossed you get many many hours of enjoyment out of the car & engine mate.
One thing I've always have done with my nitro's. Is bring the piston all the way down after running. And the slack in the rod on the pin is really strange. Never had that happen. I'd be aggravated too. If the way you do things sute you, that's all it matters. I'm in Texas thanks for your videos.
Hmm does an engine normally run with 4 ft of hose hanging off the exhaust, have you heard of the kiss theory, process of elimination, keep it simple stupid, just saying 😅😅

You are supporting this brand, good for them, but from what I have seen (I had a B5R), they have nothing to do with Novarossi, not the same quality, not the same machining and many issues, how supposed former Novarossi employees can make so many mistakes!?
If they use the "Nova" name, this is not a new brand coming from nowhere and we cannot accept any beginners issues.
Plus Novarossi is coming back, the real Novarossi and they said that they have nothing to do with these Nova engines people.
Not hating on you, love your content! You and I pay for our stuff, my main content is engine reviews, trust me, there are much better options for the price and even cheaper!
Hello Mr Tasty nice to see you here, this whole thing has gone way past my line of caring now to be honest lol. I couldn’t really care less who owns what brands I simply bought an engine and made some videos about it lol. Don’t take that negatively I just mean I didn’t expect all this political rubbish about it everyone seems to be saying. It’s an engine, a piece of metal as far as I’m concerned.
P.S I get a lot of enjoyment of your engine testing videos I often watch them before work, like you I get a lot of pleasure from engines :)

Also when Novarossi went out of business, it was like an earthquake in the nitro Rc world, same when these guys started their company.
So you will hardly avoid political stuff ^^
From my point of view, comparing engines, brands, good or bad its always interesting exchange, no hate, no drama, just nitro stuff discussion. And I must admit that I was very curious about the evolution of their products.

Wont touch Nova, seen too many issues down our local track, only been out a couple of years and on its 4th generation. My gen2 B5 is a paper weight, sitting in my bag, i cant even bring myself to sell it on its that bad. Just save a bit more and get an OS.
I actually support them, I like the idea they’re getting back into the market. Every engine has problems to start with.
So did I and many down my local track, and its fine to support companies that are starting but just too many issues. Many engines destroyed themselves (piston gudgeon clip falling out). Unfortunately, it hasn't been widely reported.

It’s at Sony being mended. Please be patient mate. It’s been there almost 2 months now but it’s supposed to be back with me in a few weeks so they say.
Any idea why my car is running sooo inconsistent? , idle gap .5mm bottom needle as lean as i can go without raising the idle so its too fast.. top end runs as high as it can without over hanging the revs coming back down. Just wont hold a consistent idle.

Sounds like a minor air leak, check tank cap seal, all pipes, motor back plate and how’s the compression? Nice and tight?

Get a new rod
No 1.....who runs an engine in for 5 tanks on tickover, with zero throttle input and a tube on the exhaust creating excess back pressure....This is why it seized....Lack of crankcase pressure!
No 2....the bottom end bush has worn excessively because you forced the piston loose with a hammer and punch with the engine in a vice....You are a certified mental case.....
