Thanks for the review and excited to check it out! On Shimano's site, they list "Water Resistant Drag" on the Nasci but not for the Miravel. Is there a difference in the drag for the two reels? I love the sealed drags on the Daiwa reels but their line management is terrible.

I was thinking of getting either the Shimano 4000 Nasci or Miravel for my semi heavy largemouth and pike rod. So, fishing around weeds, but not super heavy cover. The Miravel looks interesting with that light weight, but would it be sturdy enough? Any recommendations?
For anything heavy duty or heavier lures, fish, I would go coresolid on my reel choices and not Magnumlite which is Miravel, Vanford etc... they are primarily designed for low start up inertia and excel at finesse techniques. They can handle a lot but I always pick core solid models like Nasci, Ultegra and Stradic
No x protect or core protect? I just picked up the Ultegra, got that one because I salt and fresh fish and wanted something a tad cheaper than the stradic.
You're missing out. That's all. It doesn't even have to be this expensive. Something like a Regal or President is good. Again, both have cheap bail springs, but who knows what you're getting even in the expensive stuff. I mean they tell you about the main stuff like rotor and body, never the springbor bail arm. Those are your boggest problems in a spinning setup anyways. You can always do BFS baitcasters....don't miss out.
Get a spinning reel man. Fishing is about enjoying it with everything you can. Fly, Spinning, Baitcasting, etc. For bass fishing I am using my baitcaster but when it comes to saltwater, you cannot beat a spinning reel (the drag power it has is ridiculous compared to BCs) and you will NEVER have to deal with a bird nest. You can also get them really fast for lure fishing. I would highly recommend you to start with a decent reel so you really get to appreciate it (Shimano is hands down the best "imho" for spinning reels. Daiwa is second.) Start with a Nasci or Spheros 4000) and pair it with a 7 ft medium heavy Gloomis GCX 843S (solid quality combo that will get you hooked with Shimano reels and G Loomis rods.) With that set up you can catch from Bass to 50lb Tarpon without any issues.
I have to agree that freshwater is best with BCs. You do need spinning for a lot of great applications. As for saltwater, nothing can beat the best, and that's a top spinning like a VanStaal or Stella. Lol. I don't care for cheap reels for ocean. No way am I taking a cheap reel ocean fishing unless on the piers.
Here's the thing, you can buy a cheap reel that is a workhorse like a President and when the springs goes out, you can write to Pflueger and they will give you a new spring for free. Lol. Another 5 years of life, and repeat. Lol. They don't care. You save more money that way. Buddy had his bail arm cut into by braid, and Pflueger just sent one free. I replaced it myself. Zero money paid to repair. New again. Lol. Other companies like Okuma will do these things too. There's really no need to get an expensive reel unless you don't know spinning or you want the very best like drag. I mean what is good about a spinning reel with deep spool? Japanese run shallow spool bc they are smart. That said, this reel may be too much. It looks good and prolly function well. As for durability, these companies will replace just about anything, making old, cheap reels new again. A good cheap reel will not break easily. Only the parts fail over time. Parts are too easy to get. Drag? Most good cheap reels have excellent drag, you just have to know which one. Powerful drag? You have to pay big money or buy ocean, which are heavy. Smooth? Depends on brands and construction. Seals? Money talks. No point in getting mid-tier. Go all out or stay cheap with quality in mind. Some reels are purpose built like LC or designed lip for long casting or titanium lip spool. I hate when my spool lip gets scratched. Some reel bodies are metals, bc Lews break...lol. My point is you have to be educated. It's not just looks and name brand. Shimano at $80 is fine. The bail arm is plastic as fook. Not cool. I'd get an Exist or Stella if I just want the best. The low end Lews break at handle, the $100 ones are metals so they don't break. It works like that. Cadence at $100 is excellent. Spring will go out in a few years and it has the tendency to wrap your line in the spool shaft. Some reels have flaws...lol. No one knows until they use them long enough.
Both are nice for sure. If you want a lighter weight reel go with the Miravel but I would take the Ultegra for it’s solid feel and the upgraded bearings.
It’s not available in the North American market in the 2000 size. It is in other countries but this video was done for the North American consumers. Almost all of SHIMANO’s reels are available in a bunch of other sizes and even multiple gear ratios in the same size. Each market chooses models that fits the needs of the anglers in that country/countries
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors the stratic ci4 1000 is 5.6oz and the vanford is 5.3 ounces and the new miravel is over 6 ounces your must be talking about about a diff model the silver saltwater one im not talking about that one i compare it to these because it has a ci4 body I feel it should be equally as light thats all .
I am a Shimano guy when it comes to reels, and if its better than a Diawa Fuego for the same price point, that is saying something... The Fuego reels are excellent value.
I actually prefer the felt drag in smaller reels as it is smoother and more finesse than cross carbon. However if you fish for hard running fish, the cross carbon is a benefit
They are £120, nasci is like £99... they sound like the light weight nasci so I would go with the miravel over nasci, but I can't decide between the maravel or the ultegra spin (both £120)
There’s a cycle for reels and new versions. Sales numbers probably play a big part in that as well. Not sure why by I’m sure eventually we will see one.
Very easy to scratch, you can’t put it on the ground. You need go take care of the reel just like it is made of very thin glass. Will try penn or daiwa next time.

Honesty don’t recall if the drag cap has the rubber gaskets under it. I will try and find out!

This is meant to be an intro reel to the Magnumlite reels. They all can’t have every technology l, especially at that price point

I am guessing this is a locomotion drive reel and not a worm gear drive reel. is that correct? I can't find a schematic yet to see for myself.
Standard Shimano pinion gear touching drive gear. Never heard it referred to a locomotion drive.👍 same internal schematics as Nasci for your reference

Yes, Magnumlite is the original design, MGL is the improved low inertia rotor design. Think of it like Micromodule compared to micro module 2 or 3

It is much lighter than Stradic and only .4 oz heavier than the Vanford of the same size. I think they did a great job with this one.
