      I have been stopped a very few times(about five in 45 years), I have "niced" my way out of two potential tickets and even got a push home when my truck broke down down the street from home, So yeah, being an a-hole doesn't help you, the opposite usually works out a lot better.

      @tomflinn9815 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      @alankatz7819 I rarely get stopped, but when I do, I always treat them with respect. I'm smart enough to know that if I think they're wrong, I can go to court and fight the ticket. So far, with one exception, I deserved what I got. The one time I disagreed, I plead "no contest" and paid it. I was over the limit, but not as far over as the trooper said. The piece of crap car I had at the time (it was the late 80's when this happened.) Did not have that kind of acceleration and I had just gotten on the freeway.

    Dep. Sloup - Thank you for your service. Further, your vids are a breath of fresh air to see the correct side of this story. Further, while my Dad was on the force for 30+ years in Michigan, he was not required to hold a current DL while in his squad car. So, a couple of birthdays, he was a day late in renewing so he was worried about driving to his shift with a DL that had just expired.

    I love your honesty telling that guy that if he doesn’t give you a current registration and proof of insurance you will cite him.
    I’m a computer programmer and I keep paper copies of my documents in my car. It’s easier than fumbling around with my phone to pull up electronic copies. When I was in an accident a couple of years ago I just gave the other person old copies of my paperwork to give to her insurance company. Sadly her insurance company was GEICO and they opened a report with my insurance company for the car that I wasn’t driving instead of the car that I was driving. It took a couple of days to get that mess straightened out.
    I’m surprised that you don’t have both a dash cam and a body cam. I have a friend who is a cop who refuses to work unless he’s wearing a working body cam. He’s a good guy and an honest cop. He wears a body cam for his protection.

    Not trolling or taking a side here, but Frank as law enforcement ur looking through a different "lens" then the rest of us. People video u because they may have had bad experiences being stopped and are afraid and scared. There are officers/troopers/deputies out there who think they are above the law, don't have the best intentions, are not honest, and intimidate and harass people, it's great that ur not one of them. On the other hand the driver was a jerk, he was trying to justify his speed because everyone else was going over the limit, that doesn't matter. Sam, ur filming and editing is absolutely awesome !!

    • @shiina29
      @shiina29 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Maybe there are a few people like that, but there’s an absolute epidemic of people like this guy. Their “bad experiences” are then getting caught breaking the law and they just hate cops.

      There's a lot of good reasons to video the cops. You also don't have to be a jerk about it. I really wish I had the video from my last stop but it would cost about $500 to get. Hidden behind a paywall. The video would have been funny, I think. When the cop told me he locked me in on radar going 142 in an 80 zone on my motorcycle I literally laughed. Not the reaction he was expecting. I thought I was going to jail but walked away with a verbal warning.

    My mum has 2 sayings that perfectly describe this driver that Deputy Sloup had to deal with: 1) "hold it up to the light, not a brain in sight", and (my personal favourite) 2) "if brains were dynamite, they wouldn't have enough to blow their own nose." Lol. Deputy Sloup wouldn't waste his time on doing all the paperwork that the stop entails, just for sh**s and giggles. Hopefully that driver actually managed to gain some actual CORRECT knowledge for traffic stops, especially in Arizona lol. Thank you for protecting your community from dangerous drivers, from the UK, Deputy Sloup 🫡

    For the argument "everybody does it", the best answer is "just because everybody does it, that doesn't make it legal." You could also tell them you cite everyone you have time to stop for speeding.

    • @dont5310
      @dont5310 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Also, "everyone goes 60 down this road" (including this driver), might kinda be an admission that you were exceeding the posted speed limit. Baffling that someone would want to capture self-incriminating video. This guy's just peeved that "everyone does it" but he's the one that got caught. He started out in a hole and kept on digging.

      But this is someone who reminds me of the old adage: it would have been better for you to remain silent and thought the fool instead of opening your mouth and removing all doubt.

      Amazing that most cars have cruise control yet don’t use it to stay within the speed limits. I even use cruise control for 25 mpr speed limits to keep my speed in check. I have been driving for 50 years and received 2 speeding citations, both before the age of 29. Nothing since. Oh, oh, did I just jinx myself?

    • @Isaac_132
      @Isaac_132 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kayfurlano1462 Haha, that's my trick too. The only problem is if you have adaptive cruise control. My cruise control brake checked a cop. It was set for 30 in a heavily patrolled area and a cop pulled out behind me. As I went around a right hand bend the cruise control saw a car approaching from the other direction and as we got close the cruise saw the car and made a horrible decision and slammed on the brake to avoid the head on collision that wasn't going to happen because we were in a bend. Yeah, got a ticket for that one.

      That kinda surprises me. If there's one person you don't want to tick off it's your nurse. I've spent enough time on the orthopedic ward to know you can be busted up and still be happy. I make it my personal challenge to make sure my nurses laugh at least once before they leave my room. I know they have enough grumpy people to deal with I want to make sure they have at least one patient who’s cheery. I at least want you to look forward to coming in on your next shift to see me.
