Question on the question on the mom wanting to bring her children into therapy. Does it not make sense to first explore the benefits and risk? It just seems we would want to provide mom info to weigh that out, and once she’s sure that is the right choice for her family, then provide informed consent. Seems out of sequence. Bugs me when my rational doesn’t add up :(

The Social Worker is mainly working with Sexaual Offenders. Is he going to transfer every cient. He is working with more than one sex offender. This was confusing.

I think the rationale is that he was showing no improvement with this specific therapist, so it’s possible this therapist wasn’t the best fit for him or wasn’t equipped to support the client in the way he needed. So trying another therapist is the best option. The therapist rethinking her career is a personal issue and has nothing to do with the client.

It seems like the answer would be that the social will "explore whether this area of practice is appropriate for the social worker" since he can't refer every client. The question states he is feeling this way about "clients", which means he is a disservice to them.

This was confusing since the therapist is working in an agency that works with adult sex offenders. If the client is working with clients, the question is not about one client but clients in general. I believe the social worker is the target person in this case. Help me understand why we would refer all the clients. thank you
I was confused on this as well. The SW is at a clinic that exclusively sees sex offenders. Transferring the client won't resolve the issue- since presumably she has more than one. Asking herself if this setting is right her and (presumably) leaving seems like the logical next sequence of events.
The only way C would make sense is if clients and client was a typo- and the vignette met client. That would make it an ethical consideration in which the person must not be practicing without competency. In that case, yes, the next step is to transfer the client so he/ she is not harmed.

For the question regarding providing service for the center that has sex offenders, would it be better to explore whether this area of practice is appropriate? If we ask to transfer the client, would it most likely be someone else who is a sex offender since the social worker is working at a center that provides service to sex offenders.
I did think the same thing but then I understood her point. Before leaving or considering to change careers or area of expertise you will need to transfer the client to then have the time to considered changing areas. The client can not be left out without a professional working with them. Hopefully this helps.
Because the social worker has ALREADY been in supervision for this issue a month with NO personal improvement, (meaning her feelings haven't changed) she must do what's best for the client.

It makes sense to do what is best for the client but since every client at the clinic is a sex offender and that is the issue the SWer is having, getting one client transferred doesn't help. It means they get another client who is a sex offender as well. So wouldn't a career shift be the next consideration?
For my understanding, it's a COE question, so if SW is not competent in that area, SW needs to transfer the client
@savaysocialwork I was just wondering, the social worker works with sex offenders. If the social worker only works with sex offenders how will transferring the client change the social workers feelings toward the next sex offender they meet with?
