    Thank you for all the helpful tips. Because of your recommendations, I'm putting off the introduction until I'm better prepared. Great video!

    Thank you so much for expressing the importance of NO COLLAR!!! I did make that mistake, and my two does got tangled together! I'm just glad I was out there when it happened! I only use a slip leash when I have to move them now!
    Also...I have one very unruly girl who gets out sometimes, and she will run away from me.... so...I learned the feed trick! I only have to shake the feed bucket and she comes running after me, lol! Works like a charm every time! 😉 Just wanted to share that...lol....I don't know how many miles I ran after her before I learned that trick!

      You're so welcome! I see lots of new goat owners using them. I know they're convenient but not the most safe :). THank goodness goats are driven by their stomachs! HAHA I've ran a couple miles too before really understanding the power of the grain bucket shake lol!

    Perfect timing for this video, I’m picking up our first baby buck tomorrow and he’s 3 weeks and my does are 8 weeks. I will probably keep him inside for 2 weeks . I don’t have a barn yet unfortunately. Thank you very informative and helpful 😉

    Great tip on the collars! My neighbor lost goats due to getting hung up and she still uses them 🙄😡

      It makes me cringe when I see someone with collars on them all the time. I get it, to each their own but still... safety is important

    So I am nursing a kid and it's coming time to bring her back to her heard. Now this is the same heard she was born into bit she got trampled and left in the field for a few days before she was found. I have brought her back from dehydration and have built her muscles up. Any suggestions on what I should do to reintroduce her back to her heard? Or what else I can do.

      I like to introduce single goats to the herd through a fence first. That way they get used to the idea of each other. Then I introduce them face to face and stick around for awhile while the worst of the fussing is happening. I remove them again that evening. I might do that a couple times depending on how well received they are until I feel comfortable letting them go back with the herd 100%

    Thanks for the vid. I have a problem. About a month ago my very top of heierchy gave birth. 2 boys. She kicked one to the curb and let other stay. Nursed him up wit bottle, i need to integrate. The poor guy "seems" ostracized and humanized.

    • @MulberryBranchFarm
      @MulberryBranchFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is such a tough situation! Usually with bottle babies at about a month after birth they start having play dates with other babies. It gives mommas a break and the babies time to bond and play and create their own little social groups!

    Question! Do you recommend quarantining a new goat for 2 weeks when you are only bringing in one new guy? Will being solo stress him out?

    • @MulberryBranchFarm
      @MulberryBranchFarm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes still quarantine. I just brought in a new buckling and he’s quarantined but with a freezer Wether. If I didn’t have a freezer Wether I’d still quarantine but perhaps pen another pair of goats where he can see them but not come in contact with them. A couple weeks of stress is more acceptable than putting your entire existing herd at risk at least in my opinion. Ultimately how you manage your herd is up to you 😊but bio security is important
