    if you run the gas wire to ground. the gauge will stay the tank is full and you wont get a flashing light anymore. did that on my bike and it worked great.

    Just got a 95 883 hugger with no blinkers or speedometer. Not worried about wiring up blinkers right now but definitely would like to wire up a speedometer and fuel guage. Gonna look for this tac and give it a try

    Hi question does it have a odometer reading and if yes does it read what was on bike previously and if yes how did u hook that up

    • @Lumes1982
      @Lumes1982  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is an odometer reading, but more than likely starts at 0. You’d probably have to spin your front wheel(with hooked up magnet sensor)till it gets to your reading off of your other odometer.

    Man, I wish you could share how did you wired the speed sensor. Did you use the one that came with the speedometer or used the one already on the bike?
    Also where does the light green with violet stripe and brown with a violet stripe wires from the bike harness does it connect to on the speedometer? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Factory service manual calls for your idle to be set at 950-1050 RPM to maintain good oil flow to the heads at idle. I know this because I used to own one. Your bike is idling a bit low, probably because the engine is cold, but make sure when it's warm its idling closer to a thousand revs.

    For me doesn't wotk the RPM and the speed sensor shows wrong kilometers.. i have one magnet and my speedometer on settings have 4 digits for the wheel circumference,how can i regulate it??

    • @timm3802
      @timm3802 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      try with 2 magnets, this will solve your problem, and remember to type in your circumference of the wheel in the service menu.

    I have a 2005 sportster 1200c custom with the same mount . how did you get it to mount correctly and how far off was the speed on the Speedo ?

    • @Lumes1982
      @Lumes1982  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      you should be able to use foam cushion from the stock speedo or just buy some weather stripping tape speedo was off by 2-5 mph at times kind of annoying.. i switched back to stock.

    • @matthewchancellor8728
      @matthewchancellor8728 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Lumes1982 would love to switch back but the one I have crapped out and I am too damn cheap to spend 300+ on a plug and play

    • @Lumes1982
      @Lumes1982  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Matthew Chancellor true, for the price it really isn't bad. but its just a pita to install trying to get the sensor to sense the magnets, speedo will be way off if you try to hardwire to stock speed sensor

    • @matthewchancellor8728
      @matthewchancellor8728 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Lumes1982
      @Lumes1982  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Matthew Chancellor actually not a bad idea. download "awesome hud" if you have an i device. and get proper mounting to bars and you're set

    Hello, could you help? I have a yamaha xj 750 seca 82 and I do not detect the engine speed. I connected it directly to the ignition coil and tried either 2 or 4 cylinders. but the indicator does not move.

    • @Lumes1982
      @Lumes1982  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      your speedometer reading should come off of the supplied speed sensor and magnets that should be mounted to your front wheel.
      your connection to the ignition coil would give you your rev readings and not the speed of the engine.

    • @Rkcommuter
      @Rkcommuter 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Lumes1982 initially I wired it into my stock speed sensor which gave readings but was not correct so i switched out to the supplied speed sensor and mounted it to front forks. with the supplied magnets.. even with the correct wheel circumference settings it was off by 2-5mph at times.

    that speedo on ebay shows it's got plugs already, does it fit on the stock wiring or you have to solder everything?

    • @Lumes1982
      @Lumes1982  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you can use your existing speed sensor, but the actual speedometer reads better with speed sensor that comes with speedometer that can be mounted on to fork.

    You said the speed wasnt reading correctly, are you using the magnet system provided or was it not necessary to install.

    • @Rkcommuter
      @Rkcommuter 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      initially i wired it into my stock speed sensor which gave readings but was not correct, so inswitched out to the supplied speedometer that i mounted to front forks with supplied magnets and wheel circumference settings and this was off as well 2-3mph at times

      Yeah I saw that they come with two magnets and a bolt. Im hoping that a direct connection to ECU would be fine for my Fz8

    • @Rkcommuter
      @Rkcommuter 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mrjulicaro it can be wired to your current speed sensor, the only problem is the readings wont be the same, as the settings for this speedometer is set and calibrated by supplied circumference of installed magnets. that is just what i think

    • @Rkcommuter
      @Rkcommuter 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Beau Patterson , the original tach cable was electronic with the sensor towards the rear by the starter. For this eBay speedometer you would have to find a way to mount the supplied speed sensor on your forks in a way that it would read each rotation of the front wheel with the supplied magnets.
