Thanks for this, very good work. I will probably do this as well. Like how you tucked it under the tailgate spoiler and let the excess overlap the bed to tailgate gap. I just got my first truck and installed a Gator SRX cover which worked out well.
Just had an idea. I already have the Tacoma rubber mat. I could probably use that to cut the carpet to shape. I'm adding a carpeted camper shell, so carpet would look nice.
I just installed this today. I put it over the rubber mat and used double sided tape to hold it in place. I did the tailgate also including the 2 side screws on each side. You need a punch to make the holes in the material. The excess, I tucked under the rubber mat.
Great Video! Like you I prefer doing projects like this myself. I am considering doing the floor of the bed of my truck in those work out floor tiles. After seeing this, I may take a look at indoor outdoor carpet as well. Question: is there any foam backing to the carpet you used? Would like to make the floor of the bed easy on the knees.
Question: Could you have carpeted the truck bed sides? I've been thinking about doing the same thing you did here, but would also like the sides and back covered. Been wondering how to "mold" the carpet over the wheel wells.
@@spenserhartsook5641 it is designed to flip back into the bed when not being used to extend the bed. So it acts like a bed divider too, and helps to keep stuff from sliding around.
How do you prevent the carpet from sliding in the bed
Thanks for taking the time to create and upload. Looks like a great project at just the right budget. Definitely trying this.
