  • This rewind Wednesday we take a dive into the General Motors 6.0L Vortec motor that has been around since 2001. It's always fun to go back in time and take a look at the cars and trucks that are rarely talked about anyjmore. The demo was a 2008 GMC 2500HD with the 6.0 vortec motor! Thanks for stopping by. #gmc #rewindwednesday

2003 GMC Yukon Denali, the LQ4. Bought it, can’t remember exactly.. 2012? Previous owner bought it brand new and his teenage daughter learned to drive with it. Currently 197k miles, exactly 0 engine issues, reg maintenance and only replacing worn components that can’t outlive the motor over the years. My dad is old school muscle car guy, and he’s impressed with the tuning of the engine.
Flooring it pushes you back in your seat, and its my daily driver not even joking. Love that thing.
Plan to add a sloppy stage 2 cam kit, TBSS intake and stall converter, but hesitant.. afraid to mess with perfection.

I change the oil every 4/5000 miles I have done the spark plugs and wires three times and the coil packs once . This truck has the six speed automatic transmission with the trailer hauling package so you can really pull a lot with it. I never envisioned that I would still be driving it and still doing the same stuff with it 12 years after I bought it. I feel like this truck has many more years left.

I run a 2005 6.0 and a 2005 Ford 5.4 SD for my lawn and home care business. The truck has more rust than I would like but the engine/trans are great. Our day to day load is a 3500lb mowing trailer and we rent a 6,000lb wood chipper several times a year. No crazy weights to move but we work in the mountains and deal with steep grades on almost the daily. The 6.0 is better than the 5.4 but both dinosaurs get it done. Our trucks don’t see thruway speeds, typically 45-55mph zones max. In these conditions we have no need for a diesel, we have only wants for a newer gasser

Despite everyone that had one as a daily driver and put half a million miles on them in a heavy truck i might add the 6.0 is currently considered THE junkyard find for any gearhead to use in a drag car or basically anyone that wants to swap into any muscle car.. this is why people say LS swap everything.. go to a race track or car show these engines are everywhere and so is the older 1st generation 350 small block which is no longer in production but still the most popular engines..the 5.3 and 6.2 are basically a 6.0 different piston size is only differences same design.. even the old big blocks from the 70s are still relevant in the racing world these 6.0s are the newer version of that older stuff..so ofcourse they are relevant.. what makes the LS series 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0, and 6.2 unique is they have reliability and performance and share many characteristics.. its unbelievable
