For the anchor chain, I cut a 2" PVC pipe in half and mounted it under the chain. As the chain comes in to the anchor locker it lands on the PVC and slides down towards the back of the locker. It's just a matter of finding the perfect position for the PVC. Works fantastic. Hope that helps.
3 days work edited down to 1min for your drill job. Amazing. I know exactly how you feel (kinda but on land) somehow you managed to keep your cool on camera. Bravo 👏👏
Warren's (very) diverse engineering ability, knowledge, and forward-thinking design is tantamount to none in my estimation. This includes impressive on-the-spot mechanical understanding and practitioning. I always wonder what he did in his previous life (as in before this iterarion of sailing). Water-borne sailor's child or former Space X engineer? Of course, it was not likely either, but where did those amazingly versitile skills actually come from?
.... Hey Warren n Erica, good to see you back Erica ... the windlass gismo to distribute the chain, brilliant man, yes a work in progress. Edison, 1,000 fails before the lightbulb was created. Fun to be challenged for a solution and getting to experiment .. think the key is to have fun with it ... had to laugh at the "Erica back in the kitchen where she belongs" quip, and by the look on the faces, don't think meal prep was the topic, more a that the two of you were, are back within reach of one another .. smilin .... all the underwater stuff, pretty epic to put it mildly .... those seals sure are nimble ... thx for sharing .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger ...
Bring me back!!! Such a magical trip, as always. Great tribute to our time together, to the sharks, and to your love for the ocean and keeping mother nature's beauty.
Amazing. Swimming with whale sharks and seals in one episode!! I have been fortunate enough to swim with both in the wild and will never forget the experience. Very jealous!! Thanks again for bringing us along.
your anchor cam - maybe a spring loaded friction cam that operates in when it is turning to lift the chain but does not operate when deploying the chain eg just a circle and the cam is hidden or deployed by direction ??
Hey guys just a suggestion : I have a similar FP and have found that if you have a carabiner on the anchor locker latch it will not bounce in the air and rip off in strong winds. This did happen to me but was able to point in to the wind before it ripped off. I was slamming into the wind. André in Sydney
Hey Andre!! Ya thanks that is definitely a concern of ours, something needs to happen... we are heading to your neck of the woods in the next year or so!
Warren, could you try taking a flanged 90-degree elbow and mount it to where your chain comes into the locker. Then attach another 90-degree elbow facing down. This would be like moving the hole over to the center of your locker and helping it spread more evenly. Also oversizing the elbow like a 2-3 inch diameter so the chain can move freely through the elbow.
Welcome back to Erica. Boat projects always I like watching. Rain what is that we are hurting here in Texas send it here. Beautiful sharks so graceful. Always nice to have friends come visit gives you someone else to look at and talk with😀keep it up and I will keep watching wish I was headed to Fiji with y’all Papajack
Beautiful underwater shots of sea life. The whale sharks were incredible and the seals were adorable. Stay groovy and stay safe. PS You need a medal tube filled with flexible wire brushes attached to your chain locker, that your chain runs through up and down. It will clean crap off your chain.
Damn Gina!! Another one for the books. I felt like I was with y'all through this video. I laughed out loud and cried at the same time 😃. Hugs from Texas sweeties 😎
Maybe you could use a short length of stiff rope ( or similar) instead of the block of wood, where it may be just enough to flake the chain but bend out the way in reverse, sort of like a weed whacker, cheers
Ya'll Have a safe trip. Aloha from my hospital bed on oahu. Soon to be home and back on the Big Island. Ok until next time, Aloha from your friends on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Just one small point guys, you talked about conservation, but there was no consideration for noise pollution when you were all excited around the wildlife. As always a good video, thank you
K... Erica quit stealing the norm Macdonald joke I stole without giving proper to who you stole it from. "There's big ships old ships. There's ships made of gold and maybe even diamonds what is the most valuable ship you can think of?... The most valuable ship is friend ship" not verbatim... But it's pretty close. Norm macdonald! That's how you do it!
It was so beautiful when the jibb unfurled so effortlessly.

Okay great idea, keeping that on the back burner!! Thanks!
"Axle," I think, is the word you're looking for, Good Sir.
