You can tell that the developers of the remake were HUGE fans of the original RE2 which is probably why the game was such a success. It was a game made by fans for fans and not some weird marketing technique to attract a wider audience, which was the intention behind some other entries in the franchise.

The path to the Police station in the original was reimagined as the path to the Orphanage in the remake. Up the stairs, over the dumpster, through the basketball court, and through the bus. I thought that was a super cool call-back.

Frederick Raynal was the true father of survival horror, but like the one who couldnt get his shit together while stepfather Mikami was banging Mama Capcom with happiness. Papa Mikami got bored though and filed for divorce while Mama Capcom started dating guys that were like Mikami, but not as good. So after a long abusive love life, Mama Capcom gave up, but her children with Mikami came to take care of her and she is feeling much better and coming out with better work lately. Hopefully she'll make a full recovery.

I recall that in the Beta for RE2R you can exit the police station or something and hear huge footsteps outside the gate and a voice growl “Stars”. Shits horrifying honestly haha nemesis just out and about.
Missing a Easter egg for resident evil 3 : when Ada gets the guest bracelet it runs out October first the day Jill wakes up. And Ada remarks they will be long gone by then.
You can also see a licker dashing across a window if you go up to the 3rd floor before heading to the STARS office; I found this out on my first playthrough (Leon A); it’ll happen on the window at the end of the hallway right after leaving the room with the spade key
There is another Easter egg people haven't noticed. On the 2nd floor west side stairwell where the shutter and female cop zombie are, there are two portraits of knights. In the original this would have the area where you'd rearrange the two knight statues for a red jewel.
There is one reference that many gamers failed to notice (or at least few people metioned it) At the beginning of the game when Marvin dragged Leon out from the shutter door and after he forcefully closed the shutter door behind, he turns to Leon and says:"We are safe, for now." It pretty much reminds me of Left 4 Dead 2. When you make it to the safe room at the bottom of the level, and after you close the heavy door behind, you'll see a score screen together with this line, "We are safe, for now."
The Sheriff outfit, while I'm sure it actually *is* a cheeky nod to the Walking Dead, is actually the outfit of the Arklay Sheriffs, the mountainous region just outside of Raccoon City. You run into one in the intro: he's the guy who gets eaten by the very first zombie.
Dude if they were to remake the Outbreak games that would be amazing. Actually being able to play them with people in this day and age would be so much more fun than in the previous era.

Before the events of the Spencer mansion nobody had any reason to dislike Albert Wesker. Nobody knew he was a unbrella employee. I played the original Resident Evil games when they came out, and always assumed that Rebecca gave Wesker the film herself... Maybe it was the upper class American accent, maybe it was the slicked-back blond hair, maybe it was the sunglasses at night that inspired her to give him that film...

holy shit, i was not paying much attention to the broken walls in the rcpd before meeting with Mr.X.. now that you mentioned, amazing, eager waiting Re 3 remake. I play a lot of horror and survival horror games in this recent years any of them give me the anxiety and tension than Re2 Remake, i use the old sountrack, since i play the Re 2 when i was 10-12 years old the sound may bring back the old feelings, i dont know.. amazing remake.

I’m pretty sure that Dead Rising is in the Resident Evil universe as there’s a scene in Dead Rising 2 when they’re evacuating people, an Umbrella insignia is on the back of an official looking jacket. My theory is that the wasps from Dead Rising are experimental T virus infected wasps that make less mutated zombies, it also works when you take into account that canonically neither the RE zombies or Dead Rising zombies are actually dead, just infected.
Here's ONE that nearly everybody missed......In the Chief Irons office whillst playing CLAIRE REDFIELD wherwyou see all the stuffed dead animals.......If you look around you'll see a GOLDEN EAGLE & a SILVER WOLF......These two are references to the GOLDEN Eagle Medallion & the SILVER Wolf Medallion that you obtain in the original 1996 RE game...Those 2 Medallions where used to access the hidden underground passage...😎
Here's some more The Vp70 handgun is the colonial marines sidearm from the aliens movie and the flamethrower is exactly the same also. The elevator scene in the 2nd terminator is also recreated in the original game with G attacking the roof of the cable car. The "get down" Leon uttered before shooting that zombie behind Claire was also a direct reference to T2. The whole chest bursting thing too with the g creatures is a direct nod to alien with the creatures gaining size and lethality with time.
the lickers first appearance also shows up on the first play through when you go to the 3rd floor, it runs past the window and you can hear it break in before entering the room with the C4 as well as on the 2nd floor outside the stars office.
Could the Herb ice cream also be referencing Edgar Wright’s Cornetto Trilogy?? Strawberry Blue and Green Mint. Consequently, RE2 was featured on an episode of Spaced which stared Simon Pegg.

Is it jus me or re2 original seemed more creepy than the remake. I played through all of the play throughs and enjoyed my time and still got caught off guard and felt threatend by the AI but the original made it more creepy i dont no whether it was because i was younger or the fact that i played quite a few horror games i feel adjusted to it all but the original has its moments still
The original creeps me out in a different way. My dad would play it when I was 6 or 7 and I would sit right next to him horrified the whole time. I remember he offered me to play and I said no because I was so scared to die. The music alone was enough to make me want to hide. That was true terror. The remake is phenomenal but it’s a different kind of horror. It’s more anxiety than scary if that makes sense.

When talking about the Nemesis, you forgot the detail that if you sat at the RPD gate outside in the beggining of the game, you could faintly hear "STARS" being shouted in the background, confirming that Nemesis is actively hunting for STARS member and that Leon and Claire should be happy that they're not STARS members for him to barge in. Otherwise, Mr X would be quite of a simpleton in comparison. XD
Another easter egg I noticed is that the red and blue party hats found in the west office of the original game can be found in the bedroom that Sherry is locked in the REmake.
Also should be Noted that MADE IN HEAVEN is the title of a Queen song. And the quote on Claire's Jacket in Code Veronica is another song title from Queen. As well as Billy's tattoo from RE0.
The cost hangers are shaped like the insignia of the Los Illuminados from Resident Evil 4. Thought that was a cool little Easter egg. Kept running past the one on the third floor next to the balcony door, then realised what it was. Cool little nod to the first Resident Evil with a Over Shoulder Camera.
One Easter egg I found was an Employee of the Month poster with Marvin Branagh's picture on it. It's in the hallway where the club key door to the records room is and it's also on the second floor waiting room, the one with the safe for the muzzle for Leon's gun. The poster is by the vending machine in that room. Since Capcom releasedthe DLC of all in-game rewards, I like the game a lot better. It was just too difficult for me even on assisted mode.

Here's ONE that nearly everybody missed......In the Chief Irons office whillst playing CLAIRE REDFIELD wherwyou see all the stuffed dead animals.......If you look around you'll see a GOLDEN EAGLE & a SILVER WOLF......These two are references to the GOLDEN Eagle Medallion & the SILVER Wolf Medallion that you obtain in the original 1996 RE game...Those 2 Medallions where used to access the hidden underground passage...😎

The Vp70 handgun is the colonial marines sidearm from the aliens movie and the flamethrower is exactly the same also. The elevator scene in the 2nd terminator is also recreated in the original game with G attacking the roof of the cable car. The "get down" Leon uttered before shooting that zombie behind Claire was also a direct reference to T2. The whole chest bursting thing too with the g creatures is a direct nod to alien with the creatures gaining size and lethality with time.

That picture of Sherry on the demo end screen is a remake of one of the Epilogue picture thingies about Sherry in Resident Evil 3.

the lickers first appearance also shows up on the first play through when you go to the 3rd floor, it runs past the window and you can hear it break in before entering the room with the C4 as well as on the 2nd floor outside the stars office.
You can find Angry Joe on the breakout map in the beginning marked as dead, because he gave bad reviews to previous RE titles......

It's not a reference to The Shining. Not every scene where someone breaks down a door with an axe is a reference to The Shining. It would've been a reference if he said something from that scene, but he didn't. He didn't even stick his face in the hole. He merely broke it down.

Is it jus me or re2 original seemed more creepy than the remake. I played through all of the play throughs and enjoyed my time and still got caught off guard and felt threatend by the AI but the original made it more creepy i dont no whether it was because i was younger or the fact that i played quite a few horror games i feel adjusted to it all but the original has its moments still
The original creeps me out in a different way. My dad would play it when I was 6 or 7 and I would sit right next to him horrified the whole time. I remember he offered me to play and I said no because I was so scared to die. The music alone was enough to make me want to hide. That was true terror. The remake is phenomenal but it’s a different kind of horror. It’s more anxiety than scary if that makes sense.

Christopher Jakeman nah the remake is scarier then the original and I’ve been playing since 1996 as a 10 year old at the time the original Resident evil came out and scared the mess out of me so did RE2 but as a 32 year old now Resident evil 2 remake is the first Resident evil game (besides 7) to actually scare me since Resident evil 3 Nemesis
@@theman8688 idk i got a couple jump scares on the remake and cuz the graphics are really good it shows the detal of whats comin at you especially because the over shoulder mechanic makes its worse but theres jus something about the originals that spooks me it might be the music or the sounds but original spooks me more

When talking about the Nemesis, you forgot the detail that if you sat at the RPD gate outside in the beggining of the game, you could faintly hear "STARS" being shouted in the background, confirming that Nemesis is actively hunting for STARS member and that Leon and Claire should be happy that they're not STARS members for him to barge in.
Otherwise, Mr X would be quite of a simpleton in comparison. XD

Also should be Noted that MADE IN HEAVEN is the title of a Queen song. And the quote on Claire's Jacket in Code Veronica is another song title from Queen. As well as Billy's tattoo from RE0.
The cost hangers are shaped like the insignia of the Los Illuminados from Resident Evil 4. Thought that was a cool little Easter egg. Kept running past the one on the third floor next to the balcony door, then realised what it was. Cool little nod to the first Resident Evil with a Over Shoulder Camera.

One Easter egg I found was an Employee of the Month poster with Marvin Branagh's picture on it. It's in the hallway where the club key door to the records room is and it's also on the second floor waiting room, the one with the safe for the muzzle for Leon's gun. The poster is by the vending machine in that room. Since Capcom releasedthe DLC of all in-game rewards, I like the game a lot better. It was just too difficult for me even on assisted mode.
