    I don't know how true this is, but I've read that when taking a portion of palm oil out of a container, you need to melt down the entire batch first so it properly combines. That could be total bro science but I have it in my "random oil tricks" notes so I thought I would share 😊

    • @caitlinblue
      @caitlinblue  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's what I've heard too but this one looked way different from previous batches. Maybe I should get a bigger pot to melt the whole thing 😂

    My suspicion with the ricing is the palm oil. Unless you have a ready to go (like the no stir palm from Wholesale Supplies Plus) you need to figure out how to melt it all down and stir well before measuring out for each batch, reason being the stearic in it will not just easily redistribute itself when it rehardens, it will tend to clump together in some areas and cause all kinds of havoc with a formulation. You may also see white spots when you cut the soap from the stearic.

    • @caitlinblue
      @caitlinblue  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That' seems to be what most people are saying but I honestly didn't think a change in sustainability would be the issue...I'll be testing all my fragrances with and I think I'll start master batching oils so I can melt down the whole palm oil before cutting!

    • @MayberrySoapCompany
      @MayberrySoapCompany 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@caitlinblue Less to do with sustainability and more how it is packaged. Issues are more prevalent with the big bags/boxes because they are harder to melt. I have a masterbatch tank for my oils, I fill it up about once a month (I am a smaller seller) and melt, stir and pull from it to make my soap. I do use the no stir palm from either wholesale supplies plus or bescented (same thing - crafters choice - it is listed as RSPO sustainable palm oil) because I do not have the extra space or pots to melt down the palm each time I need to fill the tank with my oil blend.

      @@caitlinblue Hi Caitlin. I'm just starting out and to be honest, with all the research I've been doing, even those who have been in this business for 30 years, still get some floral fragrances that rice. Because I'm a newbie, I'm putting this out there as something a pro of 20+ years stated, "if your soap does rice, don't stress, just blend it with your stick blender and it'll be ok". (I should have read down through many of the comments, I had seen the tip from Soap and Clay. )
      This is my hope as I tend to like more floral scents and what I've written down to do should it happen to me with that one-three tricky fragrances. But it truly is good to see that this happens to everyone. People like me need to see this and see how it was resolved in order to know what to do. You are an inspiration to me. Keep your chin up and thanks for being very transparent. Loved it!

    ❤⚘⚘⚘ Hi Caitlin! Hey you probably already know this, but if you see the soap ricing, you can blend it out before pouring it. I also learned from ....cant think of her name!!!....from Soap and Clay that you can add sodium lactate if you need to back off the thickness before you pour. Have a great day!❤⚘⚘⚘💪😁

    • @caitlinblue
      @caitlinblue  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! I did try to blend it out but the purple and yellow one also accelerated so I was nervous to do too much stick blending. I also add the sodium lactate to my lye for every recipe but I'll still look into Soap and clay. Thanks for the recommendation!

      Sodium lactate will make it seize faster. If I know a fragrance seizes soap I never use sodium lactate. But yes, you can blend like crazy and try to blend our ricing. It’s hard to do but works often. But don’t burn up your stick blender!

    Hey Caitlin! Love your vlogs!! I know what you mean about feeling out on your own sometimes ….that’s why I love your channel…you’re like a coworker for me ;) How about this…you mentioned you have a heat wrapper (didn’t you!?! Am I hearing what I want to hear?? Ha ha.:)) Could you put the bag in a big bucket, put the warmer jacket around that and melt it within the bag in that bucket. Then you could theoretically mix it around and pour it from the bag without having to use it all or buying an oil tank? Maybe that’s just how my brain works….but I love the jacket warmers. My shea butter comes in a big brown box so I cut it down and melt it in a 20 L bucket and wrap a jacket around it. The bag you have might be be neater than my system. Good luck and thanks for all your videos!😍

I binged some of your videos over the weekend and I believe you said that once you receive your shipment of supplies and add it to your program, then make a sale, everything is deducted accordingly for inventory records so you'd know when to reorder.
