I've never seen Bellamy use the Bane Bane no Mi defensively. If he can truly turn any part of his body into springs, then, hypothetically, he could turn whatever part of his body is attacked into a spring, absorbing some of the force and rebounding it against the opponent. I'm imagine the situation where Luffy OHKO's him. Imagine if Luffy hit him in the face, but instead of doing nothing, Bellamy turned his head and neck into a spring, absorbing and then rebounding the energy into a Jack-In The Box- like attack. Would be even better with haki mixed in. I think he wastes about half of the potential use of the fruit by only using it offensively.

@@mubarakzahruddin king Kong gun is specifically a luffy attack I think, but yeah, the spring fruit seems like one that could do very similar attacks to luffy's rubber attacks. From my time in a boxing gym, I gotta say that this would be devastating. While arm muscles do play part of a role in determining how hard a punch is, most of the force come from the legs so having a spring to propel you would add that much power. Not only that, suddenly closing the distance to hit with a power shot would give quite the shock.
People kind of forget the user can turn EVERY body part into their power. What's to say he can't turn his torso to a spring to avoif attacks or shooting out his head for a surprise headbutt? This fruit has so much versatility but it's never shown, which is a shame. Heck! He can shoot out his fingers, imbued with haki, to act like bullets and hit multiple times! That's badass! Same here! I believe that after that quick "fight" of theirs, gears turned inside Luffy's head to come up with this technique. Looking at the stance he takes when he uses gear two and the stance Bellamy takes as he simply releases his attack you can definitely see similarities. So in a way, Bellamy has played a key role in making Luffy stronger.
I love that Bellamy came back during Dressrosa but I feel like his combat style hadn't really evolved, with the exception of learning haki, beyond bouncing off walls. In theory, if Bellamy learned geppo he could bounce around in the air without any surfaces nearby thereby making it significantly harder to reach or counter him. Just a theory, thoughts?
I think his fruit is a bit of a wildcard. There is so much and so little it can be used for. But yeah, let's say he could do that. Then world travel would be easier, avoiding attacks too and of course this could really increase the damage given upon impact with his enemies. I hope he comes back as a stronger man, in the great war that will erupt between the Strawhats, Blackbeard and maybe even the marines.
Everytime I see the "spring hopper" scene I can't help but imagine Bellamy missing his target once, and be sent flying out into the sky and into the distance.
I'm in a homebrew d&d campaign, where the DM likes to add things to the world that he likes. Devilfruits are one such addition, and my character got the subject of this video, the Bane-Bane No Mi. It fits my character perfectly, as he is a monk, since it increases his mobility, melee range, and damage output, as well as providing some utility in the ability to coil his springs around an opponent to grapple them.
If only this fruit was in the hands of a boxer. There are so many ways you could use your springs in general boxing. From basic things like using the fruit to increase punching power to using springs to cushion attacks.
The Bane Bane falls under the category, you need to be creative to use it. I bet Bellamy could create similar moves or buffs to Luffy's Gum Gum fruit, if he would just be more creative and brave (which is the theme in the relationship between Luffy and Bellamy). Best strategy would be to collect force inside of your springs. Those can be prepared before a battle or by tanking hits of your opponent. Then you would release those in short, strong burst either against your opponent or maybe giving you power ups.
I had a thought about this fruit - belamy could theoretically access a far superior version of GEAR 2nd. If he turned his arteries, veins and heart into springs, he could pump his blood insanely quickly, and the spring transformation would resist the high pressure of the blood.
Lucci said that Luffy only made GEAR 2 possible due to being able to stretch his arteries to handle the increased blood flow. If anyone else tried that, their heart would burst.
@@cdgamer7306 Are Bellamy's springs metal? That's more of an open question but I also wonder if you similarly reinforce your arteries with armament haki?
I always saw Bellamy in Jaya as the polar opposite of Luffy and the Bane Bane no Mi as being similar to the Gomu Gomu no Mi in basic use but again sort of the opposite in use. With that in mind I think the Bane Bane no Mi was an exceptional fruit for its time, but quickly gets surpassed later in the series.
