I'm your host, Darren Van Dam!
This list includes some of my favorite hidden gems on Netflix to recommend as well as my top 10 movies on Netflix right now.
Tired of looking for good movies to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime or other streaming services? Every week I recommend a handful of the best movies on Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. so my subscribers never run out of good movies to watch on streaming. Spending 10 minutes watching one of my videos could save you hours of searching, hours that you could otherwise spend watching good movies on streaming that you otherwise might not have ever watched or even known about.
    Thanks for watching!

One night I felt like watching a movie but wasn't sure what kind of movie I wanted to watch. So I started Netflix, closed my eyes and just randomly moved around through the movies and after about 10 seconds I started the movie and opened my eyes. I had randomly selected Outpost and what a fantastic flick it turned out to be. One of my top movies I've watched so far in 2021. So glad to see it on one of your lists.

I knew it would be good but I was very pleased to find it a lot better than expected. Sandler at his 2nd best (Billy Madison was such a stretch character for him that it’s no question his best acting chops) he makes you feel his anxiety throughout the movie. It’s well written and I wouldn’t change any of the actors in it. A+ and a must see!

What will always set Scarface apart for me is that no matter how much the main protagonist had, his emotional and psychological issues destined him for tragedy, failure and loss. Although in a far more mundane way, this is a cautionary tale that is applicable for so many people today trying to navigate their way through modern life.

You're so right about Rango, the detail in the animation is on another level. The world in which it's set...amazing, the voice acting...superb. But to me it's the strangeness of the animals and their various quirks and personality traits that really are the icing on the cake.
Edit: and after hearing you say how overrated Scarface is...I've had to subscribe! It is a masterpiece of it's time but just doesn't deserve the acclaim and anti-hero (lol) worship that's laid at it's Cuban heels!

Skux Life! Wilderpeople is so charming, ton of fun and very heartwarming. Stardust & Mr Right have been my wife and I's go to fun movies we love to watch over and over. Great list, lots of favorites all over, specially the top 10.

There are some great flicks on this list so props for that. For my money I would add the movie Pandora a South Korean
disaster film about an explosion at a nuclear power plant. One of the best films not only on Netflix but I think anywhere.
I also think it is one of the best disaster films. South Korea is really good at putting out great films.

Gads. Mr. Right is super enjoyable, can't go wrong with Bruce Lee either. No Netflix list is complete without Bright being included.

Mr Right was lots of fun. Anna Kendrick and Sam Rockwell were perfect in this movie. (Not mentioned here, not streaming I guess, is Sam Rockwell in Better Living through Chemistry is pretty darn good.) Hunt for the Wilder People big thumbs up. Pan's Labyrinth very good and I usually do not like foreign films. A young Ivana Baquero (2006) is in it and she is in the Shannara Chronicles (2018) also which I liked.. But then again, I really like Enter the Warriors Gate.

I think I've seen Shutter Island a few times and it's such a good movie but that ending was very sad. I think it's pretty simarlar when it comes to the sad ending to The Green Mile.

Awesome list! You mentioned the 1967 Bonnie and Clyde which made me think of Emile Hirsch in his modern A&E mini series of the same name. That made me think of a few films he is now on Netflix that are very good. A bit obscure is “Freaks“ with Emile and Bruce Dern. Also Killer Joe. I don’t do romcoms but Sam Rockwell is amazing and he is also great and an underrated movie called Moon. Thanks for the list brother!

Man, always look forward to these type of videos Darren! 👍 Found a couple that I haven't seen yet. I'm with ya on the romantic comedies... YUK! 🤮 But Sam Rockwell did a great job in that one. I also thought Outpost was killer (no pun intended ; ). It's cool seeing the evolution of Scott Eastwood as he becomes a better actor. Keep 'em coming my friend! 👌

I just finished watching Pan's Labyrinth! What a Movie. I was not sure at first but it is one of the best Fantasy movies I have ever seen. I have to watch it again (shucks!) because it is in spanish and i'm sure I missed stuff. No problem though, I so enjoyed it the first time. Thanks for the recommendations. I've been passing over some of the others on this list but now I will be watching all the ones I haven't seen. Oh, I'm also adding the score to my iTunes playlist,Terrific!

my grandfather escaped execution from the fascists here in spain back then..and while i adore the practical effects and creepiness of pans labyrinth, the way del Toro captures the brutality of fascists and the delivery of the fascist captain in his role hits the subconscious on another level...that shit was very real
