Among the 10,000 people who showed up that day, knowing they may only witness 1 ball, was a 13 year old Shane Warne.
50 overs, 20 overs, The Hundred ... you can keep them all.
5 days Tests and The Ashes are in a different world.
If you wanna stay in the past, yeah
@@georgedoty-williams2085sometimes the past is simply better
War of legends. Bothom vs border. Wow its great.
This is the innings where Border went from just another batsman to genuine legend, he had struggled for form all year, his last 15 innings he averaged only 18 and the few runs he had scored that summer mostly came from edges and mishits. There was speculation he would be dropped for the 3rd Test, it was actually surprising that he retained his place for this match as there were a few guys scoring well in Sheffield Shield ready to step up and replace him, when he was dismissed for 2 in the 1st innings he walked off the ground in silence, surely nothing less than a 2nd innings century would save him. When he was running out of partners it looked like he would finish stranded about 25 not out. Thommo could slog a few boundaries but rarely stuck around very long. If they had got those extra 4 runs Australia would have won the Ashes right there on the spot. No tickets were sold that final day, they just opened the gates and let anybody who wanted to come in for free, crowd estimates vary wildly, some say as many as 18000, its great to see this stuff, most from that era got wiped and forgotten.
Never tire of seeing this
Tavarae was the most relieved man in Australia
