I loved seeing the old livery on the LH 747. Blue stripe down the side of the fuselage and the black nose. I see that they have just unveiled a new white and blue livery. They are apparently doing away with the yellow coloring of their iconic flying crane emblem on the tail. I love your videos...keep flying and keep filming!

Im traveling for the first time with plane on 11th alone and I have a connecting flight in Frankfurt and all of this looks scary too me and gives me anxiety. Any way you could help me cope with it and tell me what are the key things i should be looking at? How did you know that you need to take train to gate B? And how did you know your gate was B12 even if it didnt say on the monitors when you looking it only said gate B?
1. The only thing you will need to be looking for are signs. 2. There was a sign next to the Train Door that said you need to take this train to the B gates. 3. The gate B12 was noted on the boarding pass. I know you probably dont need this anymore, but just in case I answerd your question! If you have doubt in anything, just ask the nearest employee, most germans speak english, and in Airports staff will defnitely speak english.
Marie Laberge, it’s the biggest airport in Germany. I go there twice a year when I have to get a connecting flight to China. I literally know the airport back to front! 😂

In Germany it is common for people to sometimes count the station they are at. That is likely where the confusion came from, because the employee said you had to get off at the second stop. Although not all people do that, it can be quite confusing.

This is without doubt a long walk for anybody and we agree with you that one needs a suitable amount of time to get from gate to gate when in transit at Frankfurt Airport. We actually did not fly with the Lufthansa B748, we just passed a few of them during our walk. We flew with the Lufthansa Airbus A380 and that Tripreport will be uploaded some time in the future! Having lived in Germany for 15 years in the 60's and 70's and having been impressed with the efficiency, I can't understand how confusing this transfer was, and where were the usual dual signs in German and English? I am a regular traveler as well.

Hello. I have a question. I'm travelling from Macedonia (non Schengen country), to Frankfurt and then to Portugal. Basically connecting flight from Frankfurt to Portugal. It's a 3 hour stopover. My question is, after i leave the plane from my country to Frankfurt, do i need to go through passport check and security before finding my gate at my terminal on the Frankfurt airport?
We transited through FRA: USA to Vienna early Oct. 2024. There was a pile up of transferees attempting to clear EU/Schengen passport check. Either too many arrivals or too few checkpoints open. We were stuck on one level and could not go down to the checkpoint. It seemed like a never ending stream of passengers on the level below. Allow 2-3 hours minimum to clear border check plus another security check plus the normal walk time! Also: the electronic gate info signs were displaying incorrect gate info. We were good, others missed their connections.

Hello, this video was very informative. I will be going to Frankfurt to get on a connecting flight and noticed that you didn't need to pick up your luggages. Is that always the case? I'm new to flying so I dont know how the process is. Would it be like: Get off plane -> pick up baggage -> head to connecting flight -> go to immigration (is this where you can check your luggage back in?) -> then go to your connecting flight gate. I guess my main question is when do you know you have to pick up your luggage and if you have to what are the steps in checking it in again.
When you are connecting flights, it's very different between the U.S. and EU In the EU, you don't have to pick up baggage, clear customs and recheck at the transfer airport. You will get through customs at the destination airport. So the process will be: get off the plane -> go to border control/security -> go to security/border control -> go to connecting flight. As regards to your question, there are so many factors which can influence transfer time such as a delayed connection , a busy security control, a busy Immigration or a long walk between terminals. If 1 hour 15 minutes is what the airline has between flights if you booked them all on the same ticket, then the airline does feel that there is enough time. If you are in doubt contact the airline or your travel agency directly. In this kind of situation we always contact the airline beforehand to hear what the consequences are if we miss our connection flight because of a delay at the airport of origin. Also I did not see you taking checked in baggage. Did you collect it directly at Denmark ? What happens at security check ?
That's plenty of time to pass German immigration and get to your gate. Security is done in transit by local standards as people have come from all over the world with different standards of security checks. Your baggage should be checked all the way to Berlin if you've got a single itinerary.

Hi ZS Aviation HD, if you have booked a connection flight on the same ticket, then the airline (we would assume) feels that there is time enough for a transfer. Maro and I (Maxi) normally contact the airline when we are in doubt, and then ask "what happens if we miss our connection flight at no fault of our own?" Hope this information helps. We found it very easy to find our way through the airport however the walk is long and will be challenging for people with walking disabilities. As regards your flight to BSL, you should be able to see the gate area on your ticket when you check-in for your flights, but still do remember to check the information screens within the airport (gates can change at the last minute). I loved seeing the old livery on the LH 747. Blue stripe down the side of the fuselage and the black nose. I see that they have just unveiled a new white and blue livery. They are apparently doing away with the yellow coloring of their iconic flying crane emblem on the tail.

Im traveling for the first time with plane on 11th alone and I have a connecting flight in Frankfurt and all of this looks scary too me and gives me anxiety. Any way you could help me cope with it and tell me what are the key things i should be looking at? How did you know that you need to take train to gate B? And how did you know your gate was B12 even if it didnt say on the monitors when you looking it only said gate B?
1. The only thing you will need to be looking for are signs.
2. There was a sign next to the Train Door that said you need to take this train to the B gates.
3. The gate B12 was noted on the boarding pass.
I know you probably dont need this anymore, but just in case I answerd your question!
If you have doubt in anything, just ask the nearest employee, most germans speak english, and in Airports staff will defnitely speak english.

In Germany it is common for people to sometimes count the station they are at. That is likely where the confusion came from, because the employee said you had to get off at the second stop. Although not all people do that, it can be quite confusing.

This is without doubt a long walk for anybody and we agree with you that one needs a suitable amount of time to get from gate to gate when in transit at Frankfurt Airport. We actually did not fly with the Lufthansa B748, we just passed a few of them during our walk. We flew with the Lufthansa Airbus A380 and that Tripreport will be uploaded some time in the future! Having lived in Germany for 15 years in the 60's and 70's and having been impressed with the efficiency, I can't understand how confusing this transfer was, and where were the usual dual signs in German and English? I am a regular traveler as well.

Hello. I have a question. I'm travelling from Macedonia (non Schengen country), to Frankfurt and then to Portugal. Basically connecting flight from Frankfurt to Portugal. It's a 3 hour stopover. My question is, after i leave the plane from my country to Frankfurt, do i need to go through passport check and security before finding my gate at my terminal on the Frankfurt airport?
We transited through FRA: USA to Vienna early Oct. 2024. There was a pile up of transferees attempting to clear EU/Schengen passport check. Either too many arrivals or too few checkpoints open. We were stuck on one level and could not go down to the checkpoint. It seemed like a never ending stream of passengers on the level below. Allow 2-3 hours minimum to clear border check plus another security check plus the normal walk time! Also: the electronic gate info signs were displaying incorrect gate info. We were good, others missed their connections.

Hello, I will be flying with a connecting airline from Austin to Frankfurt-Warsaw, do I need to go through passport control in Frankfurt or will I need to go through the transit area. Thanks for the answer
Hello, this video was very informative. I will be going to Frankfurt to get on a connecting flight and noticed that you didn't need to pick up your luggages. Is that always the case? I'm new to flying so I dont know how the process is. Would it be like:
Get off plane -> pick up baggage -> head to connecting flight -> go to immigration (is this where you can check your luggage back in?) -> then go to your connecting flight gate.
I guess my main question is when do you know you have to pick up your luggage and if you have to what are the steps in checking it in again.
When you are connecting flights, it's very different between the U.S. and EU
In the EU, you don't have to pick up baggage, clear customs and recheck at the transfer airport. You will get through customs at the destination airport. So the process will be:
get off the plane -> go to border control/security -> go to security/border control -> go to connecting flight.

Security Takes between 5 and 20min in my experience. At the German/EU border you will wait between 20-40min in my experience.
Also, if you are travelling to Germany/EU Schengen Area in 2022, you need to file an application for an ETIAS VISA, similar to VISA ESTA in the US

As regards to your question, there are so many factors which can influence transfer time such as a delayed connection , a busy security control, a busy Immigration or a long walk between terminals.
If 1 hour 15 minutes is what the airline has between flights if you booked them all on the same ticket, then the airline does feel that there is enough time. If you are in doubt contact the airline or your travel agency directly. In this kind of situation we always contact the airline beforehand to hear what the consequences are if we miss our connection flight because of a delay at the airport of origin.

Hi Crisstina, we have arrived from Asia and are entering the EU, therefore we have to pass through Immigration ;-)

Hi I am flying London-Frankfurt-Shanghai with connecting time in Frankfurt of 1:55. Will this be enough time? The arrival and departures in Frankfurt are both at Terminal 1

Thanks for video, many first time flyers to Frankfurt like me are getting help from it.I am flying from India in Air India to Frankfurt and then after 1.5 hours I have Lufthansa connecting flight to Berlin at 4 PM, will I be able to make it ? Also I did not see you taking checked in baggage. Did you collect it directly at Denmark ? What happens at security check ?
That's plenty of time to pass German immigration and get to your gate. Security is done in transit by local standards as people have come from all over the world with different standards of security checks. Your baggage should be checked all the way to Berlin if you've got a single itinerary.

Hi, I'm flying Lufthansa from JFK-LCY via Frankfurt, is 2 hours and 20 minutes enough time to connect? Both flights are LH
Hi ZS Aviation HD, if you have booked a connection flight on the same ticket, then the airline (we would assume) feels that there is time enough for a transfer. Maro and I (Maxi) normally contact the airline when we are in doubt, and then ask "what happens if we miss our connection flight at no fault of our own?" Hope this information helps. We found it very easy to find our way through the airport however the walk is long and will be challenging for people with walking disabilities. As regards your flight to BSL, you should be able to see the gate area on your ticket when you check-in for your flights, but still do remember to check the information screens within the airport (gates can change at the last minute). So your passport was stamped in Frankfurt not in Copenhagen, and did you pass through passport control in Copenhagen ?

This is a huge airport and that transit walk was indeed long, which did justify us some tasty snacks while waiting for our next flight... more about that when we make the Flight Reviews for this trip.
