      Whitey Herzog had 414 career hits in his major league playing career. Bobby Cox had 141, and Tony La Russa had 35. What do these three guys have in common? They were inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame! They weren't inducted as players, but managers. No one called into question that they weren't worthy because of their playing career. Pete Rose retired as a player in 1986. The gambling allegations were from 1987-1989 when he was NOT a player. Put him in the Hall of Fame already!!!

"Charlie Hustle" played the game the way it should be played and was the sports toughest competitor ever. The MLB Hall of Fame is but a shell without Rose. • @flame-sky7148
      @flame-sky7148 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t even think Clemens took anything. I mean you got McGwire, Bonds, Clemens were stars in college and came in to MLB in the mid 80s. Then they put in testing in the mid 2000s. And since they are associated with PEDs, the judgement is their whole career is invalid. I could kind of see if they tested positive and were suspended, but it’s a bit ti harsh for me. Baseball has to loosen up a bit.

    What I think about Pete Rose and Joe Jackson is something I think many people, can agree on. MLB was partly correct in banning them for life. Good, you stop their career if they are playing (Jackson) or managing (Rose). They can never be a player, coach, manager, general manager, president of player operations etc. they have been banned from participating in Major League Baseball. But the Hall of Fame is different, it’s a museum, they should have still been allowed to be selected or elected into the museum with the numbers they put up. They are no longer allowed to participate in any organization. If the Reds can put Rose into their HOF and the Pirates can put Bonds in their HOF, why can’t the general baseball HOF honor the men.

    I don't usually align with SAS rants, but I 1000% agree with him here. What MLB did to this man was an absolute disgrace. MLB cares more about policing the game than promoting/celebrating it. And thats why they are losing fans.

      This is the same league that happily benefited off the steroid era and dismissed every player they profited from. It's the same league that didn't do a damn thing to the 2017 astros, the same league that discriminated against black people forcing the negro league to exist, the same league that now profits off gambling. It's disgustingly hypocritical what they did to Pete Rose. Stephen A is 100% right about forgiveness because MLB has sinned much more than any player that's played in that league.

    With all due respect. I don't even like Stephen A. Smith.... but I tell you, this is the best take I've heard from him ever. I understand baseball wants to keep things pure, HOWEVER!!. The picking and choosing of players,when it's convenient for you. Is what I can't stand. Their's many disgraceful players,with checkered pasts in the Hall. But because the masses like the individual,they'll make all kinds of excuses for that person. BASEBALL, HOF VOTERS JUST KEEP THE ENERGY THE SAME FOR EVERY ONE!!

    Especially sad with the current knowledge regarding gambling being a form of addiction, not any different than alcohol or substance abuse. Pete wasn't a great human being, but he was an extraordinary baseball player and should have been recognized for his accomplishments before he passed. I was a season ticket holder for the Braves and got to see him play for the Phillies, but I no longer follow baseball and no interest in a sport that treats its members with such disrespect.
