    Smoothness is truly determined when you have a fish on the other end of the line.

      U have a point, but what if the reel doesnt feel smooth even right out of the box? Can it become smooth under load?

    The only Kastking reel that is probably worth the money is the Kodiak. $70-$80 price range. If you want smooth though, you better check out the Shimano Ci4+!

    Hi I-fish I still don't know your name I just started watching your Channel and I love each video you post so far eventhough I disliked how you really hated the Daiwa Fuego LT. That was my first Magsealed reel. I love how we both have the same taste, keep up the good work I'm trying to watch all your videos today I was looking into buying the St, Croix Mojocat' but thanks to you how you mentioned it was too stiff for being medium power rod I will now be looking for another rod now thank you in advance for saving me the trouble stress and regret of I did by it.

      Art Snow lol, sorry about that. Fuego is great on paper and though it would be the best value. And they have 40% off in cabelas. And i still couldnt buy it.

  • @joefbtg28
    @joefbtg28 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fuego and Ballistic have the most resistance because they are sealed for saltwater. Tatula is smooth, but will not hold up in the salt. Depends what you need.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      joefbtg28 most resistance comes from difference in gear ratios. 5.2 vs 6.3. One crank of handle does less work in the cheaper reels. Magseal does not add discernable resistance, but they also have some rubber seals that do

    "I don't feel the magic" was the best :) I think a reel with this price must be has a little bit of magic.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      lol : ) well they do feel very smooth and look shiny, but.. after trying all the LT reels... they felt only marginally better. I don't see a gap in quality, but there is certainly a huge gap in price.

    • @maxwellsmart2954
      @maxwellsmart2954 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I belive you ;) I think the differences mainly are only marketing - the production cost of all reels are in the same range and far away from selling price. What do you think, which one of the LT (exceler, fuego, legalis) has the more resistent body? I know you said, that the fuego feels like plastic.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You should see my follow up video. I bought the legalis and exceler and the sahara. Not the fuego - i hated that plasticky feeling. Exceler and Legalis are exactly the same reel, but Exceler has screw on handle and pearl paint - if you like pearl (i don't) . To be honest, this line of reel does not have a strong frame. They all feel a little soft. The small sizes are great for finesse applications, and i wouldn't use any of them for big fish. But go check my last two videos.

    I think the feeling of resistance in Ballistic and Tatula comes from the rubber seal in the clutch and the handle. I believe this would bring long term value. I am on the market for 1000 size reel for my trout fishing set-up and these two plus the stradic ci4+ are on top of my list.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anton Milanov Anton Milanov the clutch on the ballistic is sealed with magnetic oil, which has almost no resistance. As for trout reels, check my vid on ci4 stradic vs daiwa theory. Both of those are superior to the ballistic in my opinion, both in features and in feel.

    • @antonmilanov6118
      @antonmilanov6118 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Besides the magseal- on the ballistic lt you'd find a rubber cover - th-cam.com/video/C04AiDcALI4/w-d-xo.html. I saw your video on the daiwa theory, it really checks all the points I am looking for, however the price + delivery from Japan +customs-import fees I could go for the Luvias instead. Anyhow, I have compared the stradic and ballistic side by side at the store and I slightly favor the second.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anton Milanov the theory in the video was purchase from ebay for 220$, shipped, no duty, total price. Same as ci4 and ballistic. The rubber seal would create resistance, but i have 5 other magsealed reels, and none of them have resistance. The lack of resistance is actually what i love the most anout magseal, and the whole point of magseal is to avoid resistance from rubber seals. Thanks for the comments, consider becoming a patron of this channel :)

    Does difference size change the smoothness? 1000 vs 4000.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      no. The smoothness is determined by the cut of the gears and the grease. But the size changes other things, weight, resistance, and sometimes flex in the frame

      Without a doubt, for Ultralight fishing - size 1000 and 2500 i will chose Legalis, and for Bass fishing or bottom fishing, size 3000 and over, i will chose Sahara. Sahara is stronger reel but very heavy

      i_fish I will use it for bass fishing and trout. Most likely in the 2500 for the Procyon LT and the 2000 for the Tatula LT. I can’t decide on which one.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if u gona use it for bass, u need 2500. They are super light. Dont get 2000 for bass. Tatula is a little better. Both reels are almost one and same. Only a few differences. I have video comparing them

  • @buddybeavers2691

    The #1 mistake that people do. Is judge a spinning reel by how smooth it is. There is a lot more to it than that. From the type of bearings and the materials , The seals , What kind of seals, Where the seals are located, The tolerance, The type of gears and materials of the gears. You have to look at the full package. It would be like judging a car on how light and smooth the steering is and that's it. Not looking at the engine and all the other stuff. In fact some types of baits and fishing styles you don't want a reel that is so smooth you can hardly feel it. You need a tad resistance. There is also a difference in resistance and not being smooth. There are different kinds of smooth. The main thing is not feeling grinding or a ripple in the bearings. I actually made this mistake starting out. I thought the most buttery smooth reel that felt like it would spin and spin ment it was the one to get. The more reels and experience I got the more I seen that being smooth is just part of it. That there are different types of smooth. Also pay attention to how the drag feels and sounds. The drag cap click. The way the spring on the bell trip feels. And the tolerance of the handle.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      of course smoothness is not everything, but is probably the #1 factor. If a reel is not smooth... it becomes very hard to like it. Also it is important to note that usually manufacturing quality usually applies to all areas of the reel. The companies that make the smoothest reels also make the best seals, the most durable gears, the lightest frame, the lowest tolerances, etc. It is the same companies who are the best at everything..

    • @buddybeavers2691
      @buddybeavers2691 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @i_fish I wasn't saying that towards your video by the way. I was just saying in general a lot of people see people checking the smoothness and people new to reels assume that's how you know if one is good or not. You was just checking out the feel of the reel. So I was letting people in the comments know that there is much more to a reel than smoothness. The Pfluger President is one of the smoothest reels there is close to its price point. But there are reels way better than it that are not as smooth. That's basically all I was saying. Also that there are different kinds of smooth. Some Have no feel at all and some have a feeling of weight but still very smooth. Then you have some that will spin like a fidget spinner and keep spinning others will stop when you let go. But they are still very smooth. Was just letting people know the difference to look for. Thanks for the video. Would love to see more.

      @i_fish Yea I agree. I think Shimano and daiwa make the best quality overall. Okuma has been coming out with some nice stuff recently.
