    You don't shut down the elevators, you put them in fire fighter service for firefighter use. Phase 1 and Phase 2 baby.

    The elevators should automatically recall to the first floor when the alarm sounds. First responders such as FD should have a key that overrides this and allows operation. Regarding the video, this explains responsibilities DURING an evacuation. There are significant steps like EAP dissemination that occurs before and steps like staff and visitor headcount reporting to the building or emergency coordinator that occur after. It's very important to clarify that these are GUIDELINES and that specific roles and responsibilities should be called out in a building's EAP - always check there.

    why would you shut down the lifts people could be on them then they will be stuck
