The doctor's hypospray isn't a needle. It is more like a jet injector.
Spock's telepathic abilities can be utilized from a distance, but the touch telepathy is more powerful.
5:18 "Notify Starfleet we're going to attempt to probe the area of darkness to gain further information."
And, to this end, you're going to launch more probes, right? You're going to launch probes which are going to arrange themselves _around_ it, instead of trying to go _in,_ right?
Hello hon, this is another one of my favorites. Love your reactions......keep em coming please......
Picard would have declared it a unique living being and let it live.
33:52 You did not notice the remastered special effects because you are watching the original version. For bluray they deleted all the original space scenes and replaced it with computer graphic replicas. Honestly I'm grateful you are watching the originals and even adding a bit of a VHS filter :-) The special editions remasters were not that much of an improvement and the kids today won't be impressed by 20 year old CGI anymore than the original scenes would have. The original psychedelic amoeba looked better if anything. You are wonderful as always.
Immunity. . . antibodies.
When in doubt, go around. But, that wouldn't fit in with the spirit of exploration. Still... I would have gone around first, and then thought about going in.
This isn't my favorite episode, but it's okay. I never really thought about it being a 'cheap' episode. But, I guess it was. I do know that the production struggled with the exigencies of TV on a budget. Ah, well.
Thank you, as always, for the watch. I'm enjoying your enjoyment, and I'm glad you're becoming invested in the characters. I loved Star Trek growing up. It was my favorite TV show. I don't really see any of the flaws which modern eyes detect. I guess, it's because of my nostalgia glasses. They keep everything rosy.
I'll look forward to whatever you watch next.
Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
15:03 "Which of my _friends_ do I condemn to death?"
One of your friends is unlikely even to be conscious upon _arrival,_ Captain. That fact trumps all the rest.
Amoeba enema. Hilarious.
Wait, you said Lady Gray tea. I love Lady Gray!
You have excelent taste my friend
I love this episode. Bones is such a grumpy old softy 🥹
The script ended simply with Kirk ordering the Enterprise to proceed to Starbase 6. The 'tag bit' of Kirk looking at the aforementioned young woman and repeating his line from the teaser about hoping to "get some rest on a lovely planet" was improvised by Shatner and Pevney on the set.
Spock's Brain, The Enterprise Incident, The Paradise Syndrome, Is There In truth no Beauty?, Day of the Dove, The Tholian Web, Plato's step children, Let that be your last battlefield , The Mark of Gideon, Requiem for Methuselah, The Cloud Minders, The Savage Curtain, All Our Yesterdays, Turnabout Intruder
Enjoyed your review. Budgets seemed to be hurting a lot of shows about that time. There was a big turnover in TV shows in 1970 because of buget. The third season cut back on the budget, it was also a different network. Third season votes: "All Our Yesterdays", "The Paradise Syndrome", "The Enterprise Incident", and "For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky".
*Season 3:* Plato's Stepchildren, For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky, The Paradise Syndrome, All Our Yesterdays, The Enterprise Incident, Day of the Dove.
I agreed with you that McCoy recommending "Survival " was sort of useless. 😊
The organism looks like the old psychedelic rock show projection shows that used oil and water mixes between glass plates. Cool
Tamara recommends everybody smoke weed for this episode! 😁
Here are my recommendations for season 3 episodes to react too:
-The Enterprise Incident
-The Paradise Syndrome
-Is There In Truth No Beauty
-Day Of The Dove
-For The World Is Hollow And I Have Touched The Sky
-Wink Of An Eye
-Whom Gods Destroy
-Let That Be Your Last Battlefield
-That Which Survives
-Requiem For Methuselah
-All Our Yesterdays
I recommend them for different reasons, but I don't want to spoil anything for you.
I actually recommend it for ALL episodes! XD
Giant Space Amoebas are as far above us as we are above amoebas.
Space monster mystery episode! I like what you've done with the presentation, the old school tv frame with the added film scratches is a nice touch. It reminds me of watching the show when I was a kid back in the seventies. Yeah, that amoeba looks kinda trippy. Given the era Star Trek was made in that was likely intentional, almost as if the ideal soundtrack for the creature was the full seventeen minute version of Iron Butterfly "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida". Although that song dropped some months after this episode originally aired, the album cover artwork is a dead ringer for the space amoeba. The title likely refers to the dramatic tension between Spock and McCoy in their squabble over which of them is better suited to the shuttle mission rather than to the creature itself. Star Trek TOS Season 3 features some great episodes along with some stinkers, of course, tastes vary. My favorites from that season include "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield", "Day of the Dove", "Plato's Stepchildren", "Wink of an Eye", "The Enterprise Incident", "Whom Gods Destroy", "The Mark of Gideon", "The Cloud Minders", "The Savage Curtain", and "The Lights of Zetar".
Captain McCoy
Is this the bizarro blob?
20:33 "I love the lack of seatbelts in the '60's."
Well, I mean, they don't have seatbelts on ships at _sea._ They wouldn't make _sense._
But, by the same token, there are always people walking around in the _corridors,_ for one reason or another, for whom seatbelts _also_ don't make sense. And what about people off duty in their _quarters?_ What reason would _they_ have to wear seatbelts?
I also think seatbelts weren't really a thing in cars, either back then. My mom used to tell me stories of riding around without one, playing around with her sister on the floor and back seat of the car while her mother was driving. It took a big push to make people start wearing their seatbelts. So they really weren't common when this was airing!
@@T.Florenz Well, maybe. But remember that they also didn't have seatbelts in _TNG, DS9_ or _Voyager,_ and they all came on the air in the '90's, when seatbelt usage was common.
@@lazyperfectionist1 by that time I think it was a feature of Star Trek to get tossed around on impact :P
Welcome back 😁
You should have seen this on the High Definition Remastered version much better than the original theatrical version.
So much drama here. Back in the day, this was my second favourite episode of the entire show, right behind "The Doomsday Machine".
And, probably, still is, regardless of the astounding amount of scientific nonsense showed here. The most blatant insult is that antimatter generates antienergy. This is rubbish, because antimatter (that is a real thing) and antienergy (that still is only a speculation) are totally unrelated. Antimatter is identical to the ordinary matter, only with reversed charges. When annihilated (against an equal amount of ordinary matter), generates simply energy.
You should do reactions on all of the episodes.
I do.
Tamara you are very cute ❤❤❤❤
😊 thank you
it is hard to watch McCoy's viciousness now. He'd be dragged to HR so fast in a modern company.
Going through these reactions at “sublight speed.”
Still complaining, Matt?
@@TheSciFiDogLadyyou gotta admit that it is space normal speed
For claiming this is a "dead channel" some years back, you do seem to enjoy continuously coming here and helping her out when it comes to the algorithms by watching and commenting (even if the jokes are still at that Fallon level of unoriginality and failure to actually make people laugh.) I believe the Vulcans would call your actions "highly illogical."
@@MamoruChiba136 replies is a dead channel. And F off.
