    Some people are sooo clever. I do hope there will always be blacksmiths and lampshade makers. I believe roof thatchers are scarce. There is nothing more beautiful than handmade things. Well done Kirsty. ❤️

    Bravo, Kirstie :) The knitting expert can attribute her speed to her fine hand posture. Few knitters actually hold the needle from below as she did and doing so makes all the difference!
    You could also try crocheting if you are inclined, like the pattern in your colourful playroom afghan blanket. It's quicker and easier than knitting, and just as satisfying.
    You said something that struck me as profound. Obviously we all have things that were owned by others before us, but, silly me, I never thought about them being owned by others after I am gone!

    I love this, especially seeing her get deals from random shops and yards, but she got rid of a great fireplace, like it had a mirror on top, idk, really loved seeing it and would definitely keep it 42:59

    My mum also said 'you can't learn to knit, you're left handed' to me as a child, and I carried that with me for years. I started with crochet at 40 and then knitting at 45. Then sense of satisfaction knowing I could do it, and everyone was wrong is immense. I understand so well Kirsties feeling of achievement.

      From the way Kirstie said it, it sounds more like her right-handed granny told her that SHE could not teach a left-hander to knit, not that no left-handed person can ever learn to knit. Children often don't hear things the way adults intend them...

    I'm a self taught left-handed knitter. And I've taught my nieces to knit which was quite simple, they sat opposite me and mirrored my actions, so teaching a left hander should be just as simple.

    As I’m watching the knitting segment, I’m knitting on my newest sweater 😂. Great job Kristie. You CAN do it! Knitting is awesome!! And you don’t need someone “elderly” to teach you. I learned from TH-cam. Aside from that, I have a huge desire to go an auction or reclamation yard. I love what you show us. This show is fabulous!!

    I'm keen on the reuse and repurpose philosophy, so I mostly love what goes on here. I just wonder why that lovely indigo tiled fireplace surround couldn't be retained? Once again, I feel let down by the chandeliers. Both rooms need larger, more interesting pendants to anchor them. Otherwise -- great curtains, cushions, colors, design!

    I would love to try that blacksmithing. I can understand why she got emotional. That would be really cool to make something out of metal, right out of the fire like that.

    I LOVE those beautiful blue tiles around the old fireplace. Gorgeous color! And I’m not even a blue lover.
    Edit: Ironic. So she goes to a junk yard to find vintage architectural pieces for cheap. She goes to a home for its explosion of color. The result is she trashes the gorgeous blue, old, vintage fireplace tiles with a different, blah fireplace surround that she paid for. Ummm, huh?

    • @TangentOmega
      @TangentOmega 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I suspect she got several hundred pounds for that fireplace. It probably went to that salvage guy. It wasn't original to the house (late 19th century, I think.) The Victorian style would have fought for the eclectic style she is going for.
