The platform needs more Fairy Tail analysis videos. This series was always looked down on by the anime community & deserves it's flowers imo

@@EvilSewnitit’s a solid series throughout. The lore associated with the fights and the “power of friendship” plot armor is definitely annoying but it can’t completely take away from all the beautiful intricacies of Fairy Tail

Zeref’s story is one of tragedy, he lost his family and his little brother at a young age and in order to understand as to why that happened he devoted his life into understanding death and trying to bring back his little brother only to be cursed as an immortal that takes life the more it values life, to the point where he constantly contradicts himself. Then when he finally found someone that understands his pain and wants to break the curse together, the curse once again takes the life of someone he cares about. Then after years of spending life on tenrou island finding some sort of peace, people attack him in wanting to revive him and make him their king, committing atrocities in his name which was never something he wanted. They attacked him and forced him out of his peace. Honestly I’m glad he at least got to finally rest in peace with the one he loves
Zeref truly was a complex character his whole theme of self identity and acceptance was incredibly written he has many layers to his character bro is just the most underrated shounen antagonist

@@silverhetch3383 correction he already built his empire XD. at most his visit to tenrou island was a vacation. dude was also trying to figure out how to die and the answer was to literally have someone with the same curse love each other to death. also Ankhseram is a prick. just straight up mean. forcing him with that condition for idk 100 years sure he was breaking one of the laws that should never be broken. though to be honest I feel like Ankhseram was just being petty.
What I think is just the coolest is that he has whole cults devoted to reviving him not knowing that he is alive. He didn't die he just got bored and moved somewhere else. The fact that these people worship him without knowing anything about him is really indicative of real-life religions that never seem to understand who their respective saviours are.
Much of Fairy Tail does seem to have an anti-religious theme, namely that religiosity (and especially fundamentalism) can blind us to our own ignorance and shortfalls, thus making us arrogant (which is ironic since all religions preach humility) and lose our humanity.
@@sciencesociety2919Yeah, religions teach humility of the person. However, when it actually comes to humility, religions are unsurprisingly always “We are the best, objectively most correct ideology”. It doesn’t help that a majority of religions basically tell “this absolute super-being is on your side.” This pride spreads pretty easily to its followers.

Zeref is one of my favorite villains of all time and my favorite in Fairy Tail. He is perfect for the story.
Fairy Tail is ultimately a story about friendship. So the ultimate villain being someone so kind and gentle that he'd be willing to commit a cardinal sin, reviving a the dead, to see his loved ones again. But then being cursed for that sin to kill his loved ones. So to protect his loved ones he'll have to destroy the empathy and love in his heart. But when that happens he no longer cares for any harm that would come from his loved ones including even from himself making him a broken and selfish man by the end of the story and the true villain.
And this is just his themes. Let alone his buildup and his goal being to literally recreate the timeline making his life happier; but erasing the hundreds of chapters/episodes we had aventuring with the characters we have come to care about. The curse let's us sympathize with Zeref while still making sense of his accursed actions later in the series.
This supports how well written Fairy tail really is behind of all the hate this anime gets hades Conclusion was very good and showed him that the person he was loyal to was not even close to the selfishness and power hungry person that hades himself was in his life
Hades meets Zeref when he still calls himself Precht and even learns magic from him with Mavis, Yuri and Warrod in the zero storyline.
It really shows that FT is actually well written
It is not that well written. It is better than average but not amazing. It is a shonen for beginners with a main villain who wants to die and frankly a suicidel man is not compelling as a villain!

@@tayojones9460That is a gross oversimplification. A suicidal man cursed to live against his will and cause harm makes for an incredibly tragic and compelling character, especially with how his story ties into the guild itself and the main character. But then resolving the tragedy of Zeref and Mavis should have been the final battle of the story, rather than Acnalogia.
Fairy Tail is way better written than it is given credit for, but there are clear moments where Hiro Mashima has failings as a writer and has stated himself that he struggles with writing compelling villains that stay evil. This is why pretty much every villain in Fairy tail ends up becoming a good guy if they live through their arc, no matter how ridiculously evil they are initially presented as.

I love the contradictions in how he kills Larcade. He belittles him by saying he was nothing more than a demon and that he has no son, yet the way Larcade's cries seem to bother him show he must love him to some extent. He kills his child because he knows that his love for him will only lead to greater suffering.
Didnt thought you could make the tartorus arc better but now seeing the demons as part of zeref personality makes it much better
just realized how much more amazing Mashima is than I thought, this is brilliant, thanks for this video.
its also important to note how the dragon king festival in the anime shows the black wizard fighting the dragon king (dont know if this is in the manga) but also even though zeref feared acnologia on the flip side zeref seemed to be the only person acnologia respected "i grow tired of this world black wizard" "you were locked in battle with the black wizard". and when zeref did get fairy heart he solidified himself as the strongest and most well written character in the entrie series even post 100 years quest.
All my man wanted to do was give his little brother a second chance at life and he suffered for it. But im glad he finally got to have the peace he wanted with mavis.
Well this just made me love Zeref more. I never thought too much of the parallels between villains. I always thought that the Etherious commanded powers to kill Zeref with the obvious being Lullaby but didn't realise they could represent him so deeply. Which extends to all the villains you mentioned, especially the Spriggan 12.
Zeref is an interesting character and this video does a good job getting into his psyche and his impact on the story.
Fairy Tail needs more love and people need to open their eyes and understand the value of this series

I've read some of 100 Years Quest( the anime just dropped) and I'm not gonna spoil anything, but so far it doesn't seem to be as welll written as the original show was. It relies even more heavily on fan service and nudity with characters getting naked for seemingly absolutely no reason. I hope the quality picks up past volume 10. It's main story seems to be interesting and there's a sub plot I wanna see how it plays out.
100 years quest has a good storyline but in comparison to the og it obviously ain't better og series had ridiculous Foreshadowing and character development with emotions I think it's the common the sequels aren't on the same level as the og
The thing about the foreshadowing in the OG series is that when you think about it, half of it was made up on the spot. And frankly FT did not need a sequal. Mashima should have ended things after Zeref and Achinolgia were defeated.
5:28 its even sadder, natsu never stopped looking for igneel so to see igneel appear from him only to die hits hard, the other dragon slayers got to speak to their parents and say goodbye, gray got to speak with his dad, Lucy got to say good bye to aquaris but not natsu he kneeled down at his father's corsp unable to speak or even say goodbye to him. This is why he left with happy, its why he trained hard that one year so he wont lose anyone else

Hades whose real name is Precht Gaebolg was taught Magic by Zeref when he was younger.
its strange to me god akseram is not shown once even during the 100 year quest. were diving into dragons when the teritory of gods is not yet explored.

I've always wondered why we never got anymore info on this being or why Zeref never thought of trying to find the god that cursed him, Hiro Mashima could have had it be a endgame villain or something...

1:58 you say that none of Zeref's cult members have met him, including Hades. Did you forget that Zeref was the one that taught Hades, Warrod, Mavis and Yuri how to use magic back in FT Zero? I'm pretty sure he just wasn't aware that that WAS Zeref who taught him back then, but he should've recognized him when he met him again on his ship, unless that old age made him forget somehow.

Zeref was a victim of a cruel supernatural entity imo. He could’ve just cursed zeref to die or at least lifted it once he found the true value of life or death. Or perhaps the being that cursed him at foresight and wanted to bring some positive change from those he cursed. However it was messed up what zeref and mavis had to go through. Of course zeref would become evil and eventually not value life or killing. He was a victim, yes he was evil and needed taken out but the excessive curse caused his descent into evil.

quick correction. Hades has met Zeref before. he met him when he was Younger and still going by the name Precht. in fact, it was Zeref who first taught Hades magic.
After listening to your side channel vid you could definitely make a video on any or all of the MCs if you tried.
Not into this anime but I can tell the manga’s art is 100x better than the anime.
