I think Laputa remains Hisaishi-san's most influential score, and for good reason. The combination of Laputa's novel steam punk aesthetic, its simple but emotionally engaging fairy-tale-like story, and Hisaishi's achingly beautiful and memorable title music have served as inspiration for some of the most beloved Japanese properties ever made, namely dozens of classic JRPGs. Not only is this film a masterclass in animated storytelling, its orchestral score contains some of the most timeless music ever put to film.
The sheer wonder I feel from 24:24 to 25:09 in Eternal Tree of Life never fails to give me chills. It captures the power, beauty, and mystery of nature in Laputa so perfectly.
Joe Hisaishi is like the secret uncle you only know through his music. Even if he doesn't know you exist, his music makes you feel like he knows the most significant part of you that no one who knows you by name would care to know. ^_^
It's really nice looking through the comments, everyone is so kind to one another. I love the fact lots of people were inspired so much by him, it's heartwarming. Every time I listen to this song, I have nostalgia for something I have no memory of loll... If you listen carefully to the instruments, it sounds delicate and beautiful. Thank you for existing Joe!! Sometimes I like to just sit in the corner of my bed and listen to this while reading a book. It makes everything seem so peaceful and amazing!!! omg and yes every single second of this video can become a wallpaper lol
Literal chills listening to his music. Joe Hisaishi is by far the best music composer for movies to this day. Whist people like John Williams (Star Wars, Superman, etc), Howard Shore (Lord Of The Rings) and Hans Zimmer (Interstellar, the Dark knight, etc) are all brilliant composers I don't think any of them have this magic and wonder that Joe Hisaishi's music add to the films he composers for. All Joe Hisaishi's music tells a story with or without the movie but matches the movie perfectly. If anyone I would say John Williams is the closest to Joe Hisaishi.
It's Sunday night, I'm about to go to sleep before another week of work. I'm laying in my bed while listening to this video while my headphones at a volume so high that I don't hear anything else. I'm closing my eyes and focusing only on Joe Hisaishi's amazing work. I was lowkey crying. And then, a ducking ads starts to play-
I have nothing but respect for the artists who help us see the light in the limitless ocean of darkness. Joe Hisaishi is one of them. May he live long with his music.
If you ever feel like no one loves you, and no one will tell you that they love you, then you have to be the one to do it. You have to tell yourself that you love you. No, that's not weird at all! You're a human and what you think of yourself will always count. If you feel like you can't love yourself, then change. Be someone better. Become someone who you can love.
His work for castle in the sky and nausicaa are unmatched to this day! This man was born on another planet. You are one of the greatest to ever do it.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🐐

Never clicked so fast in my life, I thought he would stop at part 3, glad he didn't !
It started with pazu's trumpet music! I love that part! Instantly started smiling.
감사합니다 from. korea
Was legit going to go to sleep after finishing my essay at 4 in the morning, thank you so much for this Joe Hisaishi 💜

But John Powell deserves a mention, you know. His work on How To Train Your Dragon was amazing. Almost as good as Joe's.
The girl who fell from the sky is my favorite movie music no doubt!
Innocent…I know this song would be here and I love it so much
Oh my god yes I can keep on working while listening to studio Ghibli mixes
