Same. It also gives me ideas for things that I would like to do but won't ever get around to. Our worse, I'll end up buying the parts and they'll sit on my shelf and not get used.

I dont own this machine, but this was one of the best "mod" videos I have ever seen. Your understanding of the machine and machining hardware in general is impressive and something to look up to for aspiring engineers like myself. Kudos

Just added the HDZ and the aluminum threaded table from Ohio Diesel Parts LLC to my Shapeoko XXL. Currently using a Fusion 5 Windows tablet as a touch screen controller with no real complaints. ($189 on Amazon) Would love to do the Stream Deck upgrade though... that looks great! Terrific video with tons of useful information... thank you for making this video.

This is awesome use of the Stream Deck as a pendant!
I have downloaded the profile to alter and set up for cnc usage.
I would like to know though, what gcode have you used for the "Location" positions?
Im assuming you have used a Gcode as positions as there aren't enough for the 9 locations to use G54-59.
How did you set this up?
Or could you show me an example of the code you used for a location..
This would be really helpful as I am interested to learn this and enjoy learning more to improve my processes.

    DIY Engineering,
I am adding a streamdeck to my shapeoko at the shop. I downloaded the files shared, got the latest version of UGS for Windows, and uploaded the macros there. I have (gratefully) uploaded and am using the streamdeck profile provided, looks great. However, it seems unclear where to upload the UGS profile XLM file. I am assuming its doing some keymapping allowing the streamdeck to communicate with the UGS, but the XML format seems to not take.

    • @DIYEngineering

Custom Creations I’m sure it can be done if mach 3 can create custom macros and assign hot keys to them... I’m pretty sure it can. If you know let me know otherwise I’d have to look into the documentation a bit.

For much less than the cost of the parts to build your spindle cooling, any reason you didn't just go with an S&A CW-3000 ambient chiller? For only a little more than what you paid, you could have gone with a CW-5000 refrigerated chiller.

PC cooling is cool 😉 but an All-In-One like the cw3000 is a lot easier and has a pump that will outdo any PC pump, it has a built in alarm, 9L tank (which keeps it cooler longer) and temperature monitoring. it’s not refrigerated but neither is the radiator setup. I’ve done both and will never go back to PC parts.

For instance th-cam.com/video/4tpxgZUYGSI/w-d-xo.html I've seen some videos on how to do closed loop steppers so that if the stepper has problems the driver stops it so it doesn't destroy itself but the closed loop approach looks to be extremely complicated.
