Dr. Now is almost 80 and obviously he doesn't have to worry about putting his Kids through college or expensive braces. He does this because he is one of the few, if not the only Surgeon who can provide the type of service, including surgery that he can. This Man deserves to be sitting on a beach somewhere with a cool drink in his hands!!
Dr Now is such a kind hearted and compassionate man , He cares about each and every person that is under his care , its not about the money for him i wish more doctors were as caring as him
Agreed. Some say he’s cruel/heartless with his blunt words not considering he’s exactly the opposite, he’s buried many of his beloved patients. He deserves a luxurious life in his golden years, a true Angel this world’s blessed with. ✌🏼
I was just about to comment about eating while laying down and your comment was the first one I read and mentions it. It’s absolutely wild how anyone would eat that way.
I’m sorry, but, if someone I loved got that big, I don’t care how they yelled, screamed, cried or threw things, they’re not getting me to buy them a large pizza! They’re going to get healthy meals, just like everyone else is eating. If they don’t like it, they can go hungry. Because I realize that feeding them whatever they want is participating in their suicide. I’m not going to do that.
And this is why I am blessed that my family bullies me in a good way whenever I gained unhealthy weight. And would be mad too if I'm losing so much weight when on a strict diet. They just want to make sure it's balanced.
The ability to say no to food is the key factor. So it's really a mind game to live healthy in modern society. The ability to say NO, is powerful, in many aspects of life. Saying NO, setting boundaries is PURE POWER.😊 . Learn to say NO😊
When you can't walk, wipe your butt, or even stand up to cook your own food should be a wakeup call that you need to lose weight. Plus the people that keep bringing them food are to blame as well.
Addiction is an addiction. Food is their drug of choice. They do whatever they have to, to satisfy that itch. They come across enablers, people that have fetishes for being "feeders." They need intervention just like any other addict. Drug addicts can look really bad because their health is no longer a priority.
The sad part is the enablers are the biggest equation. If they'd alone make the changes and stand firm (i know that would be tough for some)... that would be the biggest help
I'm happy for Nikki, she seemed so nice and she was a bit more relatable than most of the others as she had some interests outside of eating (like sewing)
I have leukemia and I had to make adjustments to stay alive and reasonably active. I did that and I take my meds. I didn't care if I lived or died, but my kids do. I can't imagine saying to them just give me whatever I want and curtail your lives to care for me while I deteriorate and die.
I'm absolutely proud of everybody that lost the weight and made it. For the ones that didn't make it keep on trying don't ever give up when you give up that's when you really lose the fight.
Kelly's story broke my heart the first time I watched it and it still does. Poor girl deserved to make it, she really worked hard and seemed so sweet, yet so unloved. That one really hurts.
I’m not obese, but I never thought about that…now when I see bigger people dancing for TikToks, I think, “now just do that 20 minutes a day everyday and cut your diet.
I love food, I feel there is nothing better ( I actually know better) More specifically I love anything with sugar, so I eat candy on occasion , then I go a long time until I eat it again. This is why I love this show. It is very inspiring to me, keeps me on track.
I'm no Health Guru but when it gets to the point where you are pulling your babies out of school to take MORE CARE OF U ( BECAUSE YOU KNOW AFTER THEY GET OUT OF SCHOOL TILL THE TIME THEY GO TO BED THAT'S ALL THEY DO ) THE OTHER PERSON NEEDS TO PACK UP, GRAB YOUR KIDS AND LEAVE!! It's not a weight problem at that point, it's just plan hateful and selfish!!
I’ve been in medicine for my entire working life and even though some laypersons may find these lawsuits significant I can say that these few suits are probably a testament to his skill in an area of medicine in which the risks are so high as are the rate of post surgical complications. In a society as litigious as America is, I’m surprised there aren’t many more.
The truth of it all is that the majority of those lawsuits aren't actually against Dr. Now- they're against the production company his son owns. I believe the greatest issue was how they were treated during shooting.
When those enablers act like they are so scared of them person laying in the bed it baffles me to no end!!! What exactly is it they guns do... I mean really they can't even get up to feed themselves!!! It's not like they can really do anything... Walk away if they scream... They sure won't chase you!!!
How these people eat laying flat in bed boggles my mind. I tried to pop some M&M’s in my face while lying down in bed the other day, and about 3 of them tried to escape down before being chewed - and one of them hit the dingle-dangle in the back of my damn throat which made me dramatically gag and gasp for breath like I was actually full-blown dying. Who knows, maybe I was, but the whole ordeal made me throw the M&M’s like it was personally their fault. I don’t know how these people can strip a chicken down to the bone and then finishing off the better part of a 20oz soda in a couple swigs, all whilst laying in bed flat on their backs. If they survive the eating process, I feel like the heartburn would do them in. I want to call an ambulance just imagining it all. Maybe it’s just from the PTSD stemming from my ridiculous, yet traumatic M&M incident
I felt empathy for them even for those that lied about sneaking food. I also felt sad for those that passed. For the ones that lost weight it took hard work and determination. This was powerful.
A lot of these stories are tragic, but what is always in mind is that the show is a tiny snapshot into their lives. These people didn't start off at 700lb. At one point they were 100lb, 200lb, 300lb, etc. Yet at none of those junctions did they adequately address the issue. Same with the loved ones around them - they've been there watching this happen, and nothing was done. What we see in the show is a lifetime of abuse, and that's the most shocking thing to me.
I agree! You could see the pain and loneliness in her eyes, but she was determined to change her life for the better. Her and Henry's death just broke my heart. 😭
Yeah james story was awful i really think his girlfriend was trying to kill him by feeding him just so she could away from him well it looks like it worked
Yeah, that is the only episode that made me cry at the end, especially because she was clearly doing this on her own. Her dad clearly wasn't there for her.
We didnt have many people over 300 lbs..until 24/7 media and drive thrus Check out TAKI MIKA in Japan She didnt start working out, until age 65..she was overweight...then I think NATTO could be one of her secrets
This show is the best weight loss aid I know. Just watching the see poor people eat makes me nauseous. I know several people who have had weight lose surgery and none of them have kept the weight off. In fact they gained it all back and more.
I have always been a chunky gal but it never stopped me from working hard at home and work! If I got too big to bathe myself, I would seriously be doing something to change for the better!
My grandmother was also chunky, but she was always cooking for us or reparing clothes or iron them for the whole family. She was living 84 years, she died because she falling down and break a bone
Sean Milliken's episode really broke my heart and brought me to tears. The fact that he had laid in that bead and did nothing but over eat for a decade was truly sad. His mother's ridiculous enabling was reprehensible and nearly criminal. Then to learn that he had died after all those years of NOT living, wasting his youth and dependent on his mother. Never really growing up and entering the adult world and contributing to society in ANY way was just baffling! R.i.p. Sean. Hopefully you're in heaven living the life you never allowed yourself to while on earth.❤
@dianem7677 it just made me sad seeing him eating like that in that bed! And his mom enabling him made it sadder. Also Hoarders sometimes makes me cry. People just make me sad.
I'll never understand how they afford all that food and takeout. Even when i was using the SNAP benefit in my 20s, that money didn't go very far. Now with inflation, I have to budget my meals down to the nickel. Credit cards i guess??
With regards to James I do believe that his wife played a huge role in giving him what he wanted. Why don't these people think about it like I'm giving this person alcohol or I'm handing them narcotics, it's the same thing it's an addiction and it killed him. The food was just the means, she should have stopped feeding him. SMH
It's not just the one person in those family's ITS THE WHOLE DANGG FAMILY. YOU CAN MOST OFTEN HELP THE ONE UNLESS YOU HELP THEM ALL. WHO PAYS FOR ALL THESE Surgeries AND THE ENTIRE TREATMENTS.
There is one woman that is never mentioned. She is unforgettable to me and she died also. She would get so angry her eyes would go black. I don't remember her name but I do remember her. I wonder why they don't mention her.
I think Robert's brutal withdrawal from pain medication contributed to his death. He should have gone onto methadone maintenance. This whole cruel episode left a very bad taste in my mouth.
We have all heard the old saying, The more you do something the more you want to do it. The same thing goes for eating, the more we eat the more we want to eat. I have started intermittent fasting, fast one day & eat the next day. And I discovered on the days I fast it’s like my stomach goes to sleep but on the days when I eat, I am almost out of control with my stomach growling & constantly eating. It’s a battle but I just started less than a month ago so I have a lot to learn to get this right. Wish me luck y’all.
I understand that food is their addiction but I wonder if these enablers would be so willing to deliver heroin to their family member? I will never understand delivering food in that volume to someone who is unable to get it themselves. I’ve been a nurse my entire adult life and I still have difficulties with that scenario other than to believe that they need mental help as much as the obese person.
Genuine question: how tf do you GAIN weight after gastric bypass without rupturing your now egg-sized stomach? Or without rupturing the sutures? I know the atomach can expand but to gain weight over 500lb requires like 7,000 calories
The success stories should be huge motivation. For people struggling with weight issues as well as other addictions. It can be very hard to totally chabge your life after what your doing has been your routine for decades. So these success stories should let anyone know they can beat any addiction
Shanae just had a baby I want to say in September 2023 prematurely she's not with Freddy anymore she had it by another man she has I think Tik Tok or TH-cam where she posts mukbangs in the hospital😂😂😂
A close friend of mine was an over-eater and resistant to do exercise or diet. She went to therapy and she came to the realization that she over-ate to make herself unattractive. She was being abused and molested and subconsciously thought that her predator would stop if she fat and ugly.
I'm wondering if a lot of these people feel that food is the only thing they have, so being told they have to reduce what they have in order to live just doesn't seem worth it to them 😢
I try not to sound mean because I really feel for these folks. But they'll complain about their pain and keep right on doing the VERY THING that put them where they are.
These families just as much to blame. If someone can't get out of bed, why are youu bringing them 5 plates of food per meal and every snack on between. And a Go Fund me? Smh
The patients on 600 pound life need to visit St Jude’s Childrens hospital to see innocent children who are very sick but are braver stronger and more thankful to the drs and their families than any adult on 600 pound life.
I don’t know how they do it! I would feel like I’m bursting! I once ate an entire large pepperoni pizza, but it was thin crust, and it took about 6 hours. I’d eat 2 or 3 pieces, then after a couple of hours, I’d eat a couple more pieces etc. I never was able to do it again!
How did you feel when you watched "600 Lb .Life?"

How on God's green earth do these people eat while lying down without choking? I never understood this. 🤯🤯🤯

Exactly. If you can't bear their temper tantrums, walk outside.....because you can
They can just call delivery but i wouldn't get it for them either its same a buying an alcoholic alcohol
The saddest thing about all these stories is how *young* everybody is.
Good point
That’s true….
That’s because you don’t live long once you get that big.
That's because people with that amount of weight, just don't live much beyond 40.
What impresses me the most, is their willingness to take the first steps on such an impossibly long and difficult journey.

You mean Henry? That one was a heartbreaker. After he’d done so well. Presumably the damage was already done
What I also noticed on these episodes the family members are also very overweight.
Of course they’re all eating the same things and all have terrible eating habits. Most of these ppl are their enablers

The patients on 600 pound life need to visit St Jude’s Childrens hospital to see innocent children who are very sick but are braver stronger and more thankful to the drs and their families than any adult on 600 pound life.
Yes, the sick children at St. Jude's can't make themselves healthy like these people can. These children suffer through no fault of their own.

I once ate an entire large pepperoni pizza, but it was thin crust, and it took about 6 hours. I’d eat 2 or 3 pieces, then after a couple of hours, I’d eat a couple more pieces etc.
I never was able to do it again!

I don't think anyone feels fear of fat people. I've never been robbed for food.
Anyone who would have their daughter quit high school to pander to them is no father imo
