  • Today we are going to practice drawing a face and figure (with step by step instruction) using Henri Matisse as inspiration. The painting we are using as a reference is called Greta Moll. This painting, like many of Matisse’s works, showcases his unique ability to blend realism with abstraction, making it a key piece in the development of modern art.

Oh, I love Henri Matisse!!! One of my favorite all-time artists for all the reasons that you said… The very first oil painting I ever did for a class I took in college was a study of his work. It was a little girl with a big bow in her hair. I don’t remember the name of the painting… the blocky colors and boldness and expressiveness was what really attracted me.
At the end of the day, it is whether or not you like seeing the finished result of your work, and if it looks finished to you and gives you that feeling of completion. ❤️
And I’m pretty sure you’re saying Faber Castel correctly! Because I use a voice reader to write my comments and when I say it like that, it spells it out just fine! Lol😉🕊️✨

And I have also been very curious lately about combining colored pencil and graphite, I know the graphite will dull the color of the colored pencils, but what I’m trying to get after is the smudge ability of the graphite included with the color of the colored pencil, and hopefully it will help smudge the colored pencil in a way that makes shading more similar to the way you shade graphite.… With a blending stump for instance. Anyway, I just love your videos and I particularly like what you have done in this one !❤️
