Philip Michael Thomas invented the term EGOT to describe the achievement (that, to date, Rita Moreno and 15 others have achieved) of winning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony for acting. Thomas planned to accomplish this task himself within five years, but ultimately he never received a nomination for any of the awards. However, the term he coined lives on, and was even used as a plot device in several episodes of the comedy 30 Rock.
Such an iconic episode, and literally one of my favorite shows, with my favorite artist. Amazing to see how young Phil was, and how time flies. Such a talented guy. Legends like Phil are once in a lifetime, and this collaboration was legendary, and so glad it happend. I'll never forget it. Such a theme.
Phil is one of my favourite musicians that have played huge role in TV shows and games. Especially in Miami Vice and GTA Vice City Stories. And his best songs in the GTA franchise.
Vice at its best! One of my favourite episodes. It was a brilliant move to have Phil Collins play a character role when his music had already had such a massive impact on Season 1. Who knew he could act!?!
MV was so leading edge in so many ways. Chase scenes with supercars that looked like music videos. Having major pop and rock stars act. Models. Not done today. NO TV show has made such an impact on TV and one city (Miami).
The soundtrack LP went to #1 and stayed there for 12 weeks, making it the most successful TV soundtrack of all time. Jan Hammer received a congratulatory phone call from Henry Mancini, whose music from "Peter Gunn (1958)" was the previous record holder (it was #1 for 10 weeks in 1959).
One of my favorite Switek/Zito episodes! Those two guys were the comic relief of the show. Sadly, Zito's death later on in the series was the catalyst for Switek's downward spiral. You could tell that when Zito was killed, a huge part of Switek died, too. 😔😢
The Rat Race song is actually a song of his called “The Man With The Horn” with the lyrics changed. It was never on an album but was a B side for two singles off his No Jacket Required album.
love this one with Phil you no what a new season with old and new cast would bring a new generation of fans lots of people love to watch the original series some were born when it came out and some were not so imagine what a new season would do
Not very many people know this but the song used on the episode of phil the stile the rat race was never released on any of Phil Collins albums it only used for this episode of miami vice

As his music was used very often in the first season, it only made sense to have Phil Collins in the 2nd Season episode "Rat Race." Collins plays the slimy gameshow host Phil to perfection. It's a shame he didn't get a chance to reappear again like some of the other stars that appeared on Vice.🍉🍉💥💥
I don't think he even required wardrobe, and that hair! The British actor who played in who framed Roger rabbit could have pulled this character off just as well!
Surprised they didn’t add in the epic nod to Elvis at the end when Stan and Lar are at Stan’s apartment-the television is on, and Phil appears on one of the channels posing as a faith healer attempting to convince viewers to send in money. In true Elvis fashion, Stan pulls out his revolver, and shoots the television screen.
She is also in the scene talking to the 'interior designer' at the party when Phil butts in. (ironic considering his first divorce) Love the line he says to him as he leaves: "I like your taste" LOL
Brooke shields would’ve also been a great classic example on the TV show if she decided to go back acting her career before 1987, but she wanted to finish her studies at Princeton university and therefore she narrowed her choices debating weather she will act again or not.
Seu bom humor é contagiante querido 😍 Isso é uma característica do aquariano quando se sente bem entre pessoas queridas ! Eu sei bem como é porque também sou uma aquariana. 😍❤
I never have seen these films. Some kind of special humor! You have a lot of creativity by being an actor. Best actors we find in life itsself everywhere, I think. I wish you a Merry Christmas 🙏❤ Isaiah 9, 5 🌿📖🙏
I love the Easter egg when Phil explains why the show was cancelled. (A callback to why Gilligan's Island was cancelled. Some network bigwig's wife was a huge fan of Gunsmoke and to keep her happy, he kept it on the schedule instead.)
Great episode, but I've always felt that it would've been even more memorable if Phil and Emo had switched hairstyles ... that would've really upped the ratings.
Phil Collins on Miami Vice, what could be better? Miss the 80’s 👍
Later on, he visits Vice city
Phil was on a streak at this point in his career. He couldn't put a foot wrong and could literally do anything.

Phil Collins is a crazy good actor.
he started out as a child actor

Ladies and gentlemen, we have achieved peak 80's.
I didn't know Phil Collins was such a good and natural actor.
i’m pretty sure he went to acting school and was in various plays before joining genesis
see buster (1988).
Buster, about a great train robbery, is really good.
He acted on stage as a child
Sleaze personified. Phil Collins nailed this role.
Phil Collins on Miami Vice. Peak 80's right here.
Phil was my personal favorite guest star that was also a musician 😎
Ted Nugent and Glenn Frye did ok but you're right, Phill nailed it!
@@pfdrtom Gene Simmons was pretty good too. So was Miles Davis
Having Phil say “I think there’s been some misunderstanding” I see what they did there.

Mr 80ies on the 80ies show is the most 80ies it can get!

Phil Collins was great in "Buster"
Well, he was the Artful Dodger in Oliver on the West End as a kid.
Only in the 80's you could wear a full suit at a pool party. Loved those days.
I love Phil Collins. He did an excellent job in this episode. ❤️
Lets not forget EMO Philips! What a treat to see him here with Phil!
First time the word "Wanker" was used on American television, said by Phil Collins himself
Oh 80's how I love you
"Phil the Shill" is my favorite song when I went to the park and looking at the sun. It's beautiful!😊💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙☀👍

Aha! They played Eric Clapton's "Knock On Wood", a song from his Behind The Sun album, with Phil Collins as producer.
