Sport weight yarn. I used Drops Safran 100% cotton yarn. 4 grams (13 meters approx.) of yarn needed for this pattern.

I am going to try making some of these for Christmas presents for my students. A couple of years ago I learned how to make a granny square and I can see that this is a granny "triangle" with a round of some emelishments on three sides and the trunk is a double crochet row. So, even though I haven't tried this yet, I am confident I can do it! Thank you so much for posting this!

Also, having the instructions captioned is helping me to understand how to read the instructions! I have learned from other videos that didn't have a written pattern, and when I have tried to look at written instructions before I didn't know what any of the abriviations or numbers meant. The visual paired with the written instructions is very helpful!
