I was wondering why Atrioc knew so much about Roman times but then I remembered he was around back then so that's why. And you know you're in for a treat when Atrioc talks about his younger years
It's interesting to think that Troy takes place 1500 years before Gladiator, which is about as long ago from now as the fall of Western Rome or the founding of Islam. It's also true that the Romans considered themselves to be the posterity of the survivors of the battle of Troy, giving them a long history and beef with the Greeks.

Also as to your comment on arrows vs. melee weapons, we’ve had bows since before they started using metal. While archers are definitely poggers, the range of a normal bow isn’t far enough to really be able to defeat a mass of hundreds or thousands of angry people sprinting at you before they reach you, not to mention how hard it is to hit a moving target from 100+ yards with a bow. Also, medieval peasants would usually wear layers of tightly woven cloth, which was literally just a less effective Kevlar. Won’t stop a bullet, but will stop an arrow from most, if not all, bows. Shields were also hella effective against arrows, as you could see from the shield wall in gladiator and 300 and the like.

Fun fact, the idea that there was only one gun for every two soldiers is mostly untrue, especially in Stalingrad. The only time there were more soldiers than guns was in the early months of the German invasion when pockets of Russian troops had to try and breakout of German territory. But the idea that the Russian front was sending men to charge without guns is untrue
I feel like people don’t recognize how genuinely easy it is to make AK-47s, and also the fact that they are extremely durable pretty much gave the russians all the firepower they’d need.

Haven't seen Troy, do they do the running around the walls bit from the Illiad? Also, I recommend any of Jackie Chan's non-Hollywood fights for best battle. Wheels on Meals in particular is pretty good.
