I appreciate your time to put this video together . I would love to see more about the pulse sensor for drivebletey issues
Thanks for watching. I will definitely make more pulse sensor videos and so much more
@@electron-john thanks for your reply
I appreciate your time and effort to make this video I really enjoyed watching ,God bless you 🙏
Thank you
Great video. If you are taking suggestions for future videos I would love to see one about just using the scan tool for a test drive. A video that focuses on no code problems where you teach how to interpret every single clue from OBD2 with a test drive before you even open the hood. I think that is where everyone needs the most help. Thanks.
Thanks you cliff, I just filmed a video that goes deeper than this one, it will be uploaded soon. I plan to do a full scan tool video next using global obd 2 mode showing diagnostic tips and tricks. Probably be in a couple of weeks since I only have weekends to film with my day job and travels.
Awesome. Thanks.@@electron-john
Great Video John, a lot of technicians benefit from your training. Keep making great informational videos, including more driveability testing procedures 👍
Thank you for the kind words!
Very good mr john, you are a very good instructor
Thank you very much!
Great video. Love the step by step breakdown. Have you considered doing a series for absolute beginners on automotive diagnostic repair? Thanks.
Thanks for watching and your suggestion. I actually have quite a bit on diagnosing drivability complaints that I am sure I could make several videos on
Another great video John! Always a wealth of knowledge and insight, the value here is just incredible! 🙏
I appreciate that! Always good to hear folks are taking away something valuable. That's what this community is all about!

Thank you so much! I will definitely make more soon
Great video lots of good information. Would love to see more information on using, reading, and interpreting mode 6 data.
Excellent suggestion! I will do a video on that
@@electron-john If you do I would love to see a print out of how to decode the data, the test half of it is in hexadecimal and the numbers are encoded and need to be deciphered just to understand them.
Wow! great information. Your approach is different from a lot of diagnostic videos I've watched. Thanks!
Thank you !
Great to see Joe's products here. I use them all the time and absolutely love them!
He makes great products

Great video John we are lucky to have you… Jay
thank you so much for watching and commenting. comments whether positive or negative lets me know that people are watching so it continues to fuel my desire to keep making videos to share
Wow. This is a whole new level of attack. Using blow by to test bad rings. Using exhaust pulses to test. Got a lot to learn here. I'm old school compression-spark-fuel mechanic. They call us parts cannons these days.
thanks for watching! there is really no right vs. wrong way to diagnose something as long as you arrive at the conclusion.
epic video
Thank you
As someone who's just purchased a Youcanic scanner - this video is so incredibly useful to allow a novice like me actually understand what the values mean logically, especially when the car isn't throwing up an actual error code but something just doesn't feel right. 6 minutes in and already worth a donation. Thanks very much!
thank you so much for the kind words and donation! your donation is much appreciated as are the others I have received. it really helps to pay for all the equipment and man power needed to make these videos. my goal is always to help as many people understand how vehicles work and mostly to help them be able to make a living at repairing vehicles. auto repair has been a passion of mine since I was 11 years old. thank you again!
as a special thank you for the donation, if you send me an email to electronjohntraining@gmail.com and let me know you are the one who sent the donation, I will send a special pdf file of a book I wrote list various vehicle complaints and what could be causing the issue. this manual assumes there are no codes stored.
@@electron-john wow that's really kind of you, much appreciated! I'll send it across shortly.
@@real_yomchi thanks!
My second time watching it and still feel like there will be a need for me to watch it again in the near future. Great videos all 3 part advanced driveability diagnostics.

You are absolutely right about logically process of diagnostic👍
Thanks 👍
Great video!!!.Would like to see you make some videos how to interpret the pulse sensor waves form of different type of situations like: clogged exhaust system, vacuum leak, fuel issue ignition issue and mechanical issue. Thank you
Great suggestion! I will incorporate that into the list of upcoming video shoots. thanks for watching!
thank you very much for this and other great lectures....these are very helpful❤❤❤❤❤

Great video thanks. RE: exhaust pulses ... I think cars with AFM and DFM can not be used for that test.
One would have to disable the active fuel management if doing a dynamic test. Idle tests shouldn’t be an issue.
just found your podcast
thanks for the support
Hello I'm new to the channel. Is the joe your talking about from New Jersey? If so how is he doing. Haven't seen much from him. He made a video stating he was ill.
Hello, yes joe is from Jersey. He is doing well.
Great. I'd like to see more case studies and no comm. diags. Some flex ray explanations. Thank you.
Yes John my name is Robert I have a 2012 Ford F-150 I put a aftermarket stereo in it had to take the airbag out of the front dash so I just pulled it out and let it hang did not hook anything and then when I put it back now I've got a light on the dash and the airbag is got to open circuit do you know how I can use my alltel scan to to I would appreciate your help
Hi Robert, you can scan the srs module, but it most likely either came unplugged or possible a wire broke from the weight of hanging the bag based off your description
i still have issues with maf sensors. some say if you have say a 4.0 it should be close to the engine size. i have looked at lots of fords and it does not hold true. without one of those really expensive scan tools that bernie thompson uses with that ability, could you do a video on this in more detail with other alternatives? thanks
I will try to do a short at some point in the future. right now my travel schedule for my day job is very hectic. you can however, plot the MAF readings with fuel trim manually kind of like how Bernie’s tool does it for you automatically. just use move]ie mode on your scan tool and drive the vehicle. thanks for the support!
when you say that the o2 upstream low or normal what is meant? normal fluctuating? and low? to stay at a low constant value? example 0.3 volt...?
Thank you for responding. What I meant was that a high voltage value on an oxygen sensor represents a rich mixture while a low voltage of say .2 represents a lean exhaust content. So a low voltage that has fluctuation represents a good sensor because it is fluctuating and a lean exhaust content. OBD 2 rule of thumb is that it should fluctuate within 100ms or less to be considered a sensor that is not biased.
@@electron-john now i understand thanks for your reply keep up the great videos you help us to increase our diagnostic skills
There is nothing on this level. So please continu
Thank you and I will surely make more
A "Care Care" shop say's they'll do a 149.00 diagnostic charge. What should I expect?
So far he's saying it's probably plugs and wires... $900.00 dollars. Plus I'm sure the 149.00 diags.
Are we always compelled to pay that 149.00 ??
diagnostic fees are always hated but an average shop spends tens of thousands of dollars each year on training and tooling. todays vehicles require in-depth diagnostics and that takes time.
@@electron-john By the same token, mechanics can just go thru the motions and not care if it starts or not, they get 150 plus tax for making shit up. Owners may have to spend a diagnostic fee, two towing fees and be in the same place they started.
@@user-sp8eb6iz7f I understand your point and unfortunately, there are some bad apples in every industry. Those that are truly passionate about their careers, also do not like those that prectice inferior methods and give the entire industry a bad name. Until the consumer market place weed those bad apples out by not falling for the low prices, they will continue to thrive.
I like to explain it like this. A doctor spends a great deal of money and time getting a degree to practice medicine on a patient who’s mechanical makeup hasn’t really changed in years. A mechanic is working on patients whose composite and technical makeup changes yearly. The modern day vehicle has technological dvancements that compare and exceed most any other trade or industry including space travel! While it is true that they most likely did not have the initial expense of a doctors degree, the difference is they invest in personal tools and equipment and training their entire careers. This expense for those who take their careers serious, will surpass anything the doctors have spent.
In most parts of the world mechanics are treated with the respect of medical professionals. Here in the US, sadly we are not due to those bad apples that are mentioned above. The only way they stay in business is by offering low prices that the general public falls for. As a mechanic I too have always been curious why this is. We don’t question expenses from going to the doctors for diagnostic tests, or having to pay one doctor to just tell you to go to a specialist and pay them and hope they can help you. We also always seem to have money for purchases like tv’s and whatever else we desire but are always looking for a discount on auto repairs. The car takes us and our families to work and provide safe journeys for us and our families but we never seem to think in those terms. Sadly, I do not have an answer or solution for what we are discussing here and I apologize if anybody that reads this gets upset. I am just trying to show the mentality of the professional mechanic while also sympathizing with the consumer and understanding that like doctors, plumbers, electricians, or any other trades, there are bad apples in the mechanic industry. Thanks again for the support of my channel
How do you find out what temp bolt amp borametric things should be where is this info found
the best option unfortunately isn’t free. it would be a professional information system such as all data, motor or Mitchel. however, as a subscriber to my channel you can use the automotive insights ai program I developed for free
Can I ask does autel supply you with the meaning of data pids
in the drop down arrows next to the pid there is an information button that will tell you what the abbreviation means
@@electron-john thanks I’ll take a look .
First buy a 3000 dollar scanner
in my opinion a scan tool is the first tool one should start their diagnostic process with
Would you rather pay that to a mechanic? It’s a good investment if you ask me.
