Needed this. Started my Handyman Service this year and always get told that I'm too cheap, but this week I quoted a woman just a service fee of $50 to fix her roof. She started going off about how steep I was and not very nice. It really made me second guess myself and then quoted a woman and she was like, "I'm gonna pay you more, because you're too cheap" I had to deal with one cheapskate making me question myself. I love your ideas and tops.

Love the story! We have all been there! Don't let clients determine your value!

Hello Lee, is Yelp still a worthwhile way to get leads during this time of year when it slows down?

It really depends on your area. Yep can be a really good way of finding customers if that's what works in your area. I think a better use of your money if you're looking for paid advertising would be Google LSA ads

I always aim for $100/hr but depending on the job sometimes i charge less. I only charge by the job sometimes it works

Charging by the job is the way to go!

I have the same thing. I charge $45 hour for myself, if I have help. I charge more.I have people tell me.I don't charge enough but I feel like if it was me paying ...that would be fair. But this is the least I can charge for my business to make a profit..

Thanks for your comment brother. If you haven't yet I would recommend reading the handyman pricing handbook, that may bring some clarity!

The problem is raising prices doesn't help inflation. It proliferates it imo, so if I'm trying to "be the change" I want to see. I'm not trying to raise my rates. I'm trying to do the best I can at the lowest rate possible.

I can pull 500 a day. No problem, and that's plenty for me.

A high rate doesn't equal value.
