- Let's talk about smart watches. In particular, the Apple Watch. And even more specifically, the Apple Watch Ultra. It's been a long time coming, but I finally own an Apple Watch. And this is after holding out for years because I'm an automatic/mechanical watch guy who researches Omegas, Cartiers, Vacherons, and Journes on a daily basis.
What are my thoughts? Will I keep it as part of the watch collection? Will it replace my Rolex or other luxury watches? Find out.

Great video. Just what I needed to see/hear right now as I’m in limbo about getting the Ultra as we speak.
If you wear a Garmin Fenix 7X (51 mm and round), the Ultra will seem small. I know. I wear BOTH all of the time: Ultra on the left wrist, 7X on the right wrist.

I just picked up a ultra 2 last month I think it’s under priced you get so much for the money it’s so customizable and just packed with features health and excellent gps and battery speaking of battery I can get 3 days out of mine with about 30% left with my usage I could push it to 4 but i won’t let my battery get super low overall definitely a beast
Notifications can be adjusted to what you want the watch to push to you, I have pretty much everything turned off to my watch, I hated every notification coming to my wrist then I adjusted it and it’s damn near perfect. AWU for daily and my Sub 116610LN for everything else, I do find myself winding my Rolex and putting my AWU on my wrist.
Well as a Rolex GMT-II guy, I’m going to give the AWU a shot, it arrives in a few days. I’ve notice one thing, no one is talking about the cellular aspect, a EU purchased Watch will not work cellular wise in the US and vice versa. One of the things that’s bothers me is that I’ve discovered my Lithuanian purchased Watch will NOT work if I return to the US, just another reason to NOT return. But I was unaware of the different cellular “bands” as there is not a universal AWU that works everywhere.

Sizing is not much different from a regular watch and it is lighter. Rolex Sub is 48mm lug to lug, Apple Watch Ultra is 49mm lug to lug. Being square and the screen makes it look bigger than it is compared to a mechanical watch.
I recently got an Apple Watch series 8, I too have some automatic watches and find myself reaching for the Apple Watch because it’s so convenient, is wearing 2 watches so bad 😫😂

I bought ultra just to look at the time and ditch my phone at home, Not a camera guy, no whatsapp, fb insta, lame tik tok. Sleep track? I sleep just fine. Sleep at 10am and wake up at 5am every day no alarm no sleep tracking needed.

Interesting take, I like to think of the comparison more like a TV vs an IPad. Yes, you can watch shows on both but the iPad serves a purpose beyond just entertainment
You know how to wear a watch everyone I see has their watches too close to the hand wear you can’t even do a push up with it when bending your hand!

A fitness tracker makes more sense during exercise than a Rolex, but that's about the only occasion where it's preferable to a mechanical watch. But whatever you choose, don't let a sleep tracker tell you how you've slept or if you're well rested 🤣
Nobody uses a watch to tell them if they’re rested lol, the use it to monitor rem and deep sleep

A smart watch is more of a tool and an automatic watch is like a piece of jewelry that serves one purpose
Everyone I know runs no or minimum notifications, I personally only allow text from my family everything else is turned off because it’s a watch.
Mechanical watches have no useful purpose except being esthetically bling bling

Just get a Garmin Fenix, 9-14 day battery life and better fitness data/sensors. Who wants constant phone notifications on their wrist while training.
Apple Watch is just better overall for easy integration if you’re already in the apple ecosystem

You can literally turn notifications off lol, so what are you talking about
Why is there misconceptions that garmin is more accurate. Look around for actual tests, and this is coming from a garmin user
