A slight note: the second part of "Music of The Spheres 2 (Incendiary Lemons)" actually plays between first and second Gamma Sphere. I never knew that before, because I always rushed to the exit after getting out of the first Gamma Sphere. I think the music of the spheres represents not only the "Old Aperture" sections, but also the worn down sections. Thats why it plays at the start, that part of Aperture can be considered now "Old Aperture" because its in such a decayed state. Idk i might be overthinking it
It may be, but what about 9999999? GLaDOS's chamber isn't decayed or damaged later in the game but we clearly can hear the theme. In my opinion the theme correlates to big objects being held above the ground.
This game is so much better on replays because I can notice the reoccurrences of certain melodies used. Such as music of the wheatley boss fight when he is smashing the bedroom into the wall and the music of the spheres playing in a few songs before we go to the depths.
I hope Valve will release a prequel to Portal someday that happens only in Old Aperture (I know Portal Stories: Mel starts there, but something that happens only before the new enrichment center is built)
Yeah but like… Mel is only a fanmade mod. And having a prequel defeats the whole purpose of the second half if the game. Well, more specifically the old aperture section. It shows us the time-line brilliantly. Top tier story telling.
"Vitrification Order" doesn't have Spheres' theme. Spheres' theme is a leitmotif (I think you can say that) that repeats in all the tracks I've listed in this video. You can't hear the same leitmotif in the "Vitrification Order", that's why it's not shown here.
